Step 1

Lead-in

Teacher asks Students to read the title of the passage and predict what the passage is about.

Step 2

Reading

1. Students read the passage， find out the main idea of it and check their predictions.

2. Students read the passage again and find the answers of these two questions：

（1） Which countries are mentioned in the passage?

（2） How do they celebrate Chinese Spring Festival?

3. Students read the passage again and think about the following questions：

（1） Which event would you most like to attend? Why?

（2） Why do you think Chinese Spring Festival is “going global”?

Step 3

Pre-writing

1. Teacher encourages Students to discuss in groups and complete the notes in Activity 6 with key words， phrases or clauses.

2. Students talk about the notes in Activity 6.

Writing

1. Teacher asks Students to write a letter and reminds them to use the useful expressions.

2. Teacher shows the criteria about how to assess a piece of writing.

3. Students write a letter to the editor to express their ideas based on the notes in Activity 6.
