Aesha Ash is a Ballet (芭蕾舞) dancer who began the Swan Dreams Project in 2011. It is a program designed to bring ballet to girls of color in her community. Aesha Ash is one of the few women of color to ever grace the stages of New York City Ballet School of American Ballet. She wants to expose her community to more positive images of women of color through the use of ballet. She wants to show the world that beauty and grace are not defined by status or race.
Aesha grew up in the inner city of Rochester, New York, where crime, gun violence and poverty were among the biggest threats to the community. For her, that’s normal. That’s just life in the neighborhood, but what she remembers most is the dance studio.
She started dancing all together at the age of five. A teacher mentioned to her mother that she had some promise in ballet, and that it would be difficult for her, as a woman of color, to enter the ballet world. But the adversity (逆境) she faced was the very thing that pushed her to pursue a career in ballet.
And there’s so much negative stereotyping (刻板印象) and misunderstanding of who they are in the media. Through the use of imagery and her career as a ballet dancer, she challenges stereotypes that exist for women of color, particularly those from inner-city communities.
“It’s important that our girls see that side of themselves because for many kids it’s hard to be what you can’t see. I didn’t see a black ballet dancer before I decided that’s what I wanted to be. It was really important for me to be in my environment displaying that because this is where I’m from. It was always beyond ballet.” Aesha Ash stated.
4. Why did Aesha start the Swan Dreams Project?
A. To promote the images of females of color by ballet.
B. To expose her community to a world of women of color.

Every day people board planes, get on trains and ready themselves for an adventure. But what about the deep sea? Although it covers 70 percent of the Earth's surface,we hardly stop to think of it as a tourist destination. However, the travel industry has made great advancement in creating aquatic(水中的) hotspots.
From the luxury to the relatively modest, underwater resorts have been popping up in recent years. For those with a truly adventurous spirit and some money to spend, you can even rent your own submarine. Staffed with a captain,a personal chef and a butler(管家),Oliver’s Travels’ submarine, the Lovers Deep,is a unique getaway. For those looking for a slightly different experience, there is Jules'Undersea Lodge in Florida,US,named after Jules Verne, the author of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
Other sectors of the emerging underwater tourism industry have brought a bit of art to the deep sea. According to the BBC,“there's a move to combine underwater tourism with art tourism to attract a new kind of traveler." Underwater museums and exhibits like the Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park in Grenada and Australia's Museum of Underwater Art allow visitors to see incredible sculptures in a truly magnificent atmosphere. Underwater archaeological(考古)sites have also become popular destinations, such as the ones in Turkey, where people can visit sunken cities.
Exploring Earth's bodies of water has brought more awareness to the importance of protecting oceans and the animal life that calls them home. British sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor, whose artwork can be seen in multiple underwater attractions around the world, feels this is key. “Most people just see the surface of the ocean and it is hard to think of something so plain and enormous as fragile. We don't regard our oceans as sacred(神圣的)and we should.”
8. What does the underlined expression "popping up" in Paragraph 2 probably mean?

When asked about happiness, we usually think of something extraordinary, an absolute delight, which seems to get rarer the older we get.
For kids, happiness has a magical quality. Their delight at winning a race or getting a new bike is unreserved.
In the teenage years the concept of happiness changes. Suddenly it’s conditional on such things as excitement, love and popularity. I can still recall the excitement of being invited to dance with the most attractive boy at the school party.
In adulthood the things that bring deep joy—love, marriage, birth—also bring responsibility and the risk of loss. For adults, happiness is complicated.
My definition of happiness is “the capacity for enjoyment”. The more we can enjoy what we have, the happier we are. It’s easy to overlook the pleasure we get from the company of friends, the freedom to live where we please, and even good health.
I experienced my little moments of pleasure yesterday. First I was overjoyed when I shut the last lunch-box and had the house to myself. Then I spent an uninterrupted morning writing, which I love. When the kids and my husband came home, I enjoyed their noise after the quiet of the day.
Psychologists tell us that to be happy, we need a mix of enjoyable leisure time and satisfying work. I don’t think that my grandmother, who raised 14 children, had much of either. She did have a network of close friends and family, and maybe this is what satisfied her.
We, however, with so many choices and such pressure to succeed in every area, have turned happiness into one more thing we’ve got to have. We’re so self-conscious about our “right” to it that it’s making us miserable. So we chase it and equal it with wealth and success, without noticing that the people who have those things aren’t necessarily happier.
Happiness isn’t about what happens to—it’s about how we see what happens to us. It’s the skillful way of finding a positive for every negative. It’s not wishing for what we don’t have, but enjoying what we do possess.
12. What can we learn about the author from Paragraphs 5 and 6?
A. She cares little about her own health.
B. She enjoys the freedom of traveling.
C. She is easily pleased by things in daily life.
D. She prefers getting pleasure from housework.
13. What can be inferred from Paragraph 7?
A. Psychologists think satisfying work is key to happiness.
B. Psychologists’ opinion is well proved by Grandma’s case.
C. Grandma often found time for social gatherings.
D. Grandma’s happiness came from modest expectations of life.
14. What do people who equal happiness with wealth and success tend to do?
A. They consider pressure something blocking their way.
B. They stress their right to happiness too much.
C. They are at a loss to make correct choices.
D. They are more likely to be happy.
15. What can be concluded from the passage?
A. Happiness lies between the positive and the negative
B Each man is the master of his own fate.
C. Success leads to happiness.
D. Happy is he who is content.
【答案】12. C 13. D 14. B 15. D
【解析】

【14题详解】
推理判断题。根据第八段“We, however, with so many choices and such pressure to succeed in every area, have turned happiness into one more thing we’ve got to have.
