    While it's taken years fr Payeng's remarkable dedicatin t planting t receive sme well­deserved recgnitin internatinally, it didn't take lng fr wildlife in the regin t benefit frm the frest.Demnstrating a keen understanding f eclgical balance, Payeng even transplanted ants t his ecsystem t maintain its natural harmny.Sn the shadeless sandbar was transfrmed int a natural ecsystem.The frest, called the Mlai wds, nw serves as a safe habitat fr numerus birds, deer, rhins, tigers and elephants.
    Despite Payeng's utstanding prject, frestry fficials in the regin first learned f this new frest in 2008, and since then they've cme t recgnize his effrts as truly remarkable, but perhaps nt enugh.
    “We're amazed at Payeng,” says Gunin Saikia, Assistant Cnservatr f Frests.“He has been at it fr 30 years.Had he been in any ther cuntry, he wuld have been made a her.”
