知识讲解 (难点突破) | 2. So, what are nouns? Well, a noun can be a person, a place, or a thing. For example, this is Peter. He has a red schoolbag. And he is from Britain. In these sentences, Peter is a person, it’s a noun. Schoolbag is a thing, it’s a noun. And Britain is a country. It’s also a noun. 3.In English, if you want talk about one of something. It’s a singular. For example, there is one elephant. The elephant here is a singular. 4.If you want talk about more than one thing. You can change a singular into plural by adding -s at the end of the words. e.g. There are two elephants. The elephants here are plural. 5.Now let’s do more examples. (dog-dogs; cat-cats; pear-pears; banana-bananas;)They are all regular plurals. 6.However, there are other regular plurals, too. First, let’s look at the nouns that end with “ch”“sh”“x”“s” and “o”. For these nouns, we just add “-es” at the end of the nouns. e.g. “peach” “brush” “box” “bus” tomato” “potato”. The plurals are “peaches” “brushes” “boxes” “buses” “tomatoes” “potatoes” 7.Second, let’s talk about nouns that end with a consonant plus “-y”.For these nouns, we just change “y”into “i”plus “-es” e.g. baby-babies; candy-candies; strawberry-strawberries. 8.We know that nouns that end with a vowel plus “y”, we just add “-s” at the end of the words. e.g. boy-boys; toy-toys The plurals we mentioned above are all regular plurals. Because they obey rules.

There are three children. child ---? 11.In these examples, “sheep” “child” are singulars, “sheep” “children” are plurals. Why?
