(2022·重庆八中高二期末)On an island in northern Norway, the sun doesn’t set from May 18 right through to July 26. The locals, having spent the long polar night from November to January, when the sun doesn’t rise at all, make the most of these months, with no regard to conventional timekeeping. The island intends to exchange its watches for flower garlands (花环) and declare itself the world’s first time-free zone.
“There’s constant daylight, and we act accordingly,” says islander Kjell Ove Hveding in a statement. “In the middle of the night, which citizens might call ‘2 am’, you can spot children playing soccer, people painting their houses or mowing their lawns, and teens going for a swim.”
Now they want to make it official. Islanders gathered at a town hall meeting to sign a petition (请愿) for a time-free zone and on June 13, Hveding met with a Norwegian member of parliament (国会) to hand over the locals’ signatures and to discuss the practical and legal challenges.
“To us, getting this in writing would simply mean formalizing the lifestyle we have been living for generations,” he says.
Islanders hope to be free of traditional opening hours and to introduce flexibility in school and working hours. Fishing and tourism are the main industries on this island with a population of little more than 300 people. Local fisher and women often spend days on the ocean for their catch, with little regard to timetable.
It’s clear that they mean business. When visitors cross the bridge to the island from the mainland, they aren’t greeted with padlocks (symbolizing love locks) like on similar bridges worldwide. The bridge is covered with watches, as people prepare for entry to the land time forgot.
4.What do the islanders normally do at midnight from May 18 to July 26?
A.Do daily work or have fun. B.Sleep like outside people.
C.Struggle with strong light. D.Turn watches into flowers.
5.What can we learn about the islanders’ living a life free of time?
A.It is difficult to describe. B.It has been a long tradition.
C.It is a new kind of lifestyle. D.It proves practical and legal.
6.What does the underlined part “they mean business” mean in the last paragraph?
A.Visitors actually prefer watches on bridges. B.Visitors are ready to enter a time-free island.
C.The islanders intend to treat tourism as business. D.The islanders are serious about being free of time.
7.What is the main idea of the text?
A.An island wants to be a time-free zone officially. B.Islanders in Norway have been free from time.
C.It’s time to lead a life without the limit of time. D.An island won’t be open to the world any longer.
根据第二段第二句中的“you can spot children playing soccer, people painting their houses or mowing their lawns, and teens going for a swim”(你可以看到孩子们在踢足球,人们在粉刷房子或修剪草坪,青少年在游泳)可知,岛民通常在5月18日至7月26日的午夜从事日常工作或娱乐。故选A。
根据第四段中的“To us, getting this in writing would simply mean formalizing the lifestyle we have been living for generations”(对我们来说,把这些写下来仅仅意味着将我们世世代代的生活方式正式化)可知,岛民过着自由时间是一个悠久的传统。故选B。
根据最后一段第二句“When visitors cross the bridge to the island from the mainland, they aren’t greeted with padlocks (symbolizing love locks) like on similar bridges worldwide. The bridge is covered with watches, as people prepare for entry to the land time forgot.”(当游客从大陆过桥到岛上时,迎接他们的不是世界其他桥上象征爱情的挂锁,而是挂满了手表的一座桥,人们要准备好进入被时间遗忘之地。)
通读全文并结合第一段最后一句“The island intends to exchange its watches for flower garlands and declare itself the world’s first time-free zone”(该岛打算用手表换花环,并宣布自己为世界上第一个自由时间区。) 故选A。

(2022·浙江绍兴·高一期末)Travel allows us to experience the world. But as we travel, we are also leaving our footprint on every place we visit. This is why culturally immersive (沉浸) travel is so important. Because the wrong kind of travel negatively affects the world. One of the reasons we started this blog was to help others travel better and feel comfortable getting off the beaten path, interacting with locals, and take you “Beyond the traditional Bucketlist”, if you will.
People who only get 2-weeks off per year are often just looking for an easy destination with a beach to relax on. This isn’t travel. This is a vacation. But “Immersive Travel” or “Cultural Travel” is an entirely new type of trip. It is about experiencing and preserving the various traditions around the world. It’s about being open to new experiences and willing to step into another’s shoes. Cultural travel is jumping in with both feet and leaving your idea about what your trip should be behind you. It’s eating local dishes and sleeping in guesthouses. It’s building genuine connections with locals. It’s learning about the history of a country and leaving your trip with a greater understanding of the place you came to see and the people who live there.
Often times in today’s age, “travelers” will visit a country just to snap some photos of the famous sights to post on Instagram or to drink the night away, or even just to relax on a tropical beach. But that kind of vacation can be harmful to the very communities you’re traveling to.
Beyond supporting the local communities and the preservation of local customs and traditions, you’ll also experience some personal benefits through cultural travels. There’s simply no way to travel this way with a closed mind. You’ll get to know different cultures intimately and understand them a lot better. You’ll also become less judgmental of others the more you travel.
8.What’s the author’s purpose in writing the first paragraph?
A.To stress the negative influence of travel.
B.To describe the importance of cultural travel.
C.To recommend a totally different type of travel.
D.To convey his unique feelings about cultural travel.
9.According to the author, today's travelers tend to_________.
A.establish close connections with the locals during the travel
B.choose a tourist attraction for adventure and exploration
C.show more interest in the history of a travel destination
D.post the photos taken in the journey on the social media
10.What can be inferred about the culturally immersive travel?
A.It is focused on studying local people's lifestyle.
B.Its travelers should be open-minded and understanding.
C.It is a specific way to make judgments of other cultures.
D.Its major concern is preserving local traditions and customs.
11.Where is the text probably taken from?
A.A travel brochure. B.A blog post.
C.A historic magazine. D.An encyclopedia website.

根据第一段“Travel allows us to experience the world. But as we travel, we are also leaving our footprint on every place we visit. This is why culturally immersive travel is so important. Because the wrong kind of travel negatively affects the world.”(旅行让我们体验世界。
根据第三段“Often times in today’s age, “travelers” will visit a country just to snap some photos of the famous sights to post on Instagram or to drink the night away, or even just to relax on a tropical beach.”(在今天这个时代,很多时候,“旅行者”去一个国家,只是为了拍下一些著名景点的照片,并发布到Instagram上,或者通宵喝酒,甚至只是为了在热带海滩上放松一下。)

(2017·江西·上高二中高二阶段练习)What's your dream vacation?Watching wildlife in Kenya?Boating down the Amazon?Sunbathing in Malaysia? New chances are opening up all the time to explore the world. So we visit travel agents, compare packages and prices, and pay our money.
We know what our vacation costs us.But do we know what it might cost someone else? It's true that many poorer countries now depend on tourism for foreign income.Unfortunately,though.tourism often harms the local people more than it helps them
It might cost their homes and lands. In Myanmar.5.200 people were forced to leave their homes among the pagodas(佛塔)in Bagan so that tourists could visit the pagodas.
Tourism might also cost the local people their livelihood(生计)and dignity(尊严).Local workers often find only jobs with slim salaries in the tourist industry. And most of the profits(利润)do not help the local economy. Instead, profits return to the tour operators in wealthier countries,When the Maasai people in Tanzania were driven(驱赶)from their lands, some moved to city slums.Others now make a little money selling souvenirs or posing(摆姿势)for photos.
Problems like these were observed more than 20 years ago.But now some non-government organizations, tour operators and local governments are working together to begin correcting them.Tourists, too, are putting on the pressure.
The result is responsible tourism,or ethical tourism.Ethical tourism has people at its heart.New international agreements and codes of conduct(行为准则)can help protect the people's lands homes, economies and cultures. The beginnings are small, though, and the problems are complex.
But take heart. The good news is that everyone, including us,can play a part to help the local people in the places we visit Tour operators and companies can help by making sure that local people work in good conditions and earn reasonable wages.
They can make it a point to use only locally owned hotel restaurants and guide services. They can share profits fairly to help the local economy And they can involve the local people in planning and managing tourism.
What can tourists do?First,we can ask tour companies to provide information about the conditions of local citizens. We can then make our choices and tell them why.And while we're abroad,we can:
Buy local foods and products, not imported ones.
Pay a fair price for goods and services and not bargain for the cheapest price.
Avoid flaunting wealth.
Ask before talking photographs of people. They are not just part of the landscape!
Let's enjoy our vacation and make sure others do,too.
12.What is probably the best title for the article?
A.Vacations Cost More Than You Think
B.Tourism Causes Bad Effects

13.Which of the following is not mentioned?
A.Local people were well paid to leave their lands
B.Tourists may stay in hotels opened by local people.
C.Local people are mainly provided with low-paying work
D.Tourists could bargain with local people for a reasonable price
14.The underlined phrase "take heart" means " ".

C.cheer up D.calm down
15.According to the passage,the writer thinks .
A.tourism is not a promising(有前途的)industry
B.dream vacations should be spent abroad
C.tourists should respect local customs and culture

其中主题句是“We know what our vacation costs us.But do we know what it might cost someone else? ”说明旅游花费的比我们想像的要多。
13.A细节理解。第八段中的“They can make it a point to use only locally owned hotel restaurants”可知B是正确的,第四段中的“.Local workers often find only jobs with slim salaries in the tourist industry”可知C项是正确的。倒数第四段的第一句“Pay a fair price for goods and services and not bargain for the cheapest price. ”可知D项正确。第三段中的“people were forced to leave their homes among the pagodas(佛塔)in Bagan so that tourists could visit the pagodas. ”当地人被迫离开家园没说是付给他们钱。故选A
接着用转折连词“but”及根据后面的句子“But take heart. The good news is that everyone, including us,can play a part to help the local people in the places we visit” 。 A项是take care 小心,当心;B项pay attention.注意;C项cheer up鼓起勇气,振作起来; D项calm down冷静下来。
文章的第九段“And while we're abroad, we can:……and make sure others do ,too ” 旅游旅时可以当地食品和产品,买卖公平,避免炫富,拍照要征得他们的同意。

16.由下文“And in a way we totally mean that, but Fashion Tourism goes a step forward. (在某种程度上,我们完全是这个意思,但时尚旅游业向前迈进了一步)”可知,这句话是对什么是时尚旅游业的回答,并在此基础上又对定义有拓展。由此可推断,空处应是对时尚旅游定义的提问。因此F项“你会想:时尚旅游?你是指购物旅游,对吗?”符合语境。故选F。
17.由上文“But don't just picture yourself travelling to Lisbon and visiting one of Louis Vuitton or Miu Miu shops and buying a clutch! (但不要只想象自己去里斯本旅游,参观路易威登或Miu-Miu商店,然后买一个限量款)”可知,谈及时尚旅游,不要只做这些普通的事情。由此可推断,空处应是关于时尚旅游其他新颖的做法。因此A项“放眼全局,环顾四周”与前文形成对比。故选A。
18.由上文“Fashion Tourism will give you something to tell your friends when you come back home. It will make you wear clothes that you are not brave enough to wear in your home town. (时尚旅游会给你一些回家后可以告诉朋友的东西。它会让你穿上你在家乡没有勇气穿的衣服)”可知,本段在讲解时尚旅游带来的益处。由下文“Not mentioning buying the latest fashion magazines in foreign countries finding wonderful bargains in street markets, going to fashion museums and even trying to get inside a fashion show! (更不用说在国外买最新的时尚杂志,在街头市场买到很好的便宜货,去时尚博物馆,甚至试图进入一场时装秀)”可知,下文依旧在列举时尚旅游带来的好处。由此可推断,空处应承接前文,继续介绍时尚旅游的优点。因此选项E “它也会给你带来很多新的想法和服装灵感”承接前文并符合语境。故选E。
19.由上文“So you may ask why we would go across the world to buy things in different stores. (所以你可能会问,为什么我们要走遍世界各地去不同的商店买东西)”可知,这是对旅游引起购物这个问题的提问。由下文“We shop for essentials on holiday, to experience local culture through an engagement with local products and local crafts people. (我们在假日购买生活必需品,通过与当地产品和手工艺人的接触来体验当地文化)”可知,这解释了上文问题的原因,由此可推断,空处依旧是对该问题的解释与回答,选项C“购物本身就是一种愉快的活动”符合语境,从而构成因果逻辑关系。故选C。
20.由上文“The concept of Fashion Tourism is an enjoyable experience. (时尚旅游的概念是一种愉快的体验)” 可知,这是文章最后一段对时尚旅游的总结。回顾前文,从首段对时尚旅游的新定义,到后文介绍的它给人们带来的新的益处以及对购物的重新审视,最后再到总结。G选项“它充满了社会需求、新奇和特色购物的发现”符合文意及结构特征。故选G。

【答案】Dear Peter,
Hearing that you are going to do a presentation on “tourism” in your class next week, I would like to share with you some relevant information.
With tourism developing at a fast rate, we have come to realize that it is a double-edged sword, boosting the economy while damaging the environment. Being the lifeblood of the communities that depends entirely on it, tourism allows local service industries to grow consistently, which in turn, gives jobs to the local population, thus bringing more wealth to the surrounding communities.
However, booming tourism isn't always a bed of roses. As a result of the flood of tourists, tourist attractions, where people used to live in harmony with nature, are impacted or even destroyed. What's worse, resources in those places are running out rapidly, posing a threat to the local plants and animals.
In summary, it’s not a good choice to develop tourism at the expense of the environment. If everyone can be a sustainable tourist, we are sure to make a difference.
I am hopeful that the above information is useful to you.
Yours,
Li Jiang

But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark again. Jane was so tired, hungry, and extremely frightened. She thought to herself, “If only I had not quarrelled with Tom. Where is Tom? He must have made the emergency call. What I need is enough courage. If I continue my spirits tomorrow, I will be likely to guide the helicopter.” Lying beside the river, she fell asleep very soon. Suddenly, she heard the shouts of tigers, which made her scared to death. After she held her breath for a few minutes, everything was quiet again. In the terrible darkness, she slept again.
It was daybreak when Jane woke up. She caught sight of a fisherman at a distance, with whose help she climbed to an open area. To her great joy, a helicopter flew overhead just at that moment. The fisherman helped flag her yellow blouse wildly. This did catch the rescuers' attention! Jane was rescued. Seeing Tom, she told him how much she missed him. Never would they be away from each other. Tom gave her the warmest and longest hug she had ever received.
