◆Combination of ingredients that's more effective than individual nutrients(营养物质).
◆No artificial flavourings, fillers or sweeteners.
    ◆Supports fatburning during digestion.
    ◆Supports resistance to common diseases.
Many products promise what only Almased can deliver. In order to achieve the unique Almased effect, it takes more than just mixing soy, yogurt and honey. The recipe for our Almased powder is as simple as it is unique: highquality and natural soy, honey and yogurt.
SOY | The highquality nonGMO soy(非转基因大豆) used in Almased is an environmentally friendly, sustainable source of plant protein. A single serving of Almased supplies 27 grams of protein.
HONEY | Unlike most regular honey, which is heattreated, the raw honey in Almased is bursting with freshness even after it is canned. The honey's natural ingredients are still living and active when you open the can.
YOGURT | Cows that are naturally fed can even in turn encourage grass growth. This is why Almased sources its milk and yogurt from happy cows in Ireland and northern Germany, where they live in green grasslands.
Being a natural product, Almased has a very plain taste and can be prepared in many different ways. Whether you like it sweet or fruity, there are no limits to how you flavour it. This ensures Almased doesn't get boring and suits your personal taste perfectly. So quick and easy to prepare, Almased can be fitted into your daily routine with ease.

I'm rather good at using maps. But I forgot the maps and here we were, late afternoon, last day of vacation, my daughter, my cousin and I, driving along a twolane highway in Oregon. No other car in sight, and the sun had just gone down. Where was that sweet little village?
It was supposed to be right along this river. We drove on, farther into the unknown, river always at left as our guide. We kept passing farms and fields and now a few lights were coming out. In my head, I was doing a lot of selfcriticisms: Why didn't we start earlier, bring the map and on and on? My cousin and I were both impatient and stressed. My daughter, at least, was happy in the back seat, text messaging a friend. I pulled up on the shoulder of the road to think.
Just then—WOW! Amazing! A new scene had appeared. Where did it come from?
Right there, out of nowhere: a magical misty landscape. Fields stretched in silent purples, with rows of tall trees, darkening in the dusk(黄昏). I turned the car engine off. All was silent in the hot summer air. Beside us, a plumcolored river hardly moved between a border of trees, its dark lazy water reflecting the last light of day.
How breathtaking! Where had it been? If I had seen even a bit of this beauty while driving along, I could have stopped and taken a look. I had missed it all.
We miss a lot, almost everything, in fact, in our world. Our taskfocused filters(过滤器) take care of that, selecting only what we need. We need to get to work. Have some lunch. We see what we need to see, often for purposes of survival. Gregory Bateson, speaking of beauty, said the judgment is selection of a fact. In our daily lives, who or what is doing the selecting? Can we make a change? Can we see further?
( )24. Which of the following might be the destination of the author's driving?
    A. Her own home. B. A vacation spot.
    C. A tourist centre. D. Her cousin's farm.
( )25. What made the author keep blaming herself in the beginning?
    A. That the vacation was below her expectations.
    B. That she wasn't as good at using maps as before.
    C. That her cousin and daughter couldn't get along.
    D. That lack of full preparations got her to lose her way.
( )26. The author felt really amazed because ________.
    A. her carelessness brought an unexpected pleasure
    B. she discovered a tourist spot unknown to the public
    C. she unintentionally reached what she had planned to
    D. the right route to her destination came out of nowhere
( )27. What does the story intend to tell us?
    A. Stay cool when you are trapped in trouble.
    B. Make a change for the purpose of survival.
    C. Slow down your paces to enjoy beauty in life.
    D. Be positive because there's always an alternative.
    C
Virtual reality can improve brain activity that may be crucial for learning, memory and even treating Alzheimer's, a study on rats has found.
After monitoring the rats' brain activity, researchers from the University of California Los Angeles discovered electrical activity in a region known as the hippocampus neurons(海马体神经元) differed depending on whether the rats were placed in realworld or VR environments. The new findings are significant as the hippocampus is a primary driver of learning and memory in the brain.
When rats walk around in real life, electrical activity in the hippocampus appears to synchronize(同步发生) at a rate of eight heartbeats per second. Heartbeats at this frequency are generally known as “theta(Θ) waves”, with stronger Θ waves seeming to improve the brain's ability to learn and keep sensory information. When placed in a VR environment, the rat's Θ waves became stronger.
“It turns out that amazing things happen when the rat is in virtual reality,” said Prof Mayank Mehta from UCLA. The scientists also found that VR environments could change different electrical rhythms(节律) in different parts of the neurons, which indicates that scientists may be able to control human brain rhythms.
“This is a new technology that has great potential,” Mehta said. The study also indicates why VR may stimulate these unique brain waves. A big part of it,__Mehta puts, may be down to the very different set of stimuli presented in VR.
Imagine that you're approaching a doorway in real life. Your eyes see the door getting larger. But how do you know that you're moving forward and the door isn't coming to you? The answer is that your brain uses information such as the acceleration of your head through space or the shift of weight from one foot to the other—information that may not be present during a VR experience.
( )28. According to the passage, why are the new findings important?
    A. VR's contributions to learning have finally been identified.
    B. VR can affect electrical activity in the hippocampus neurons.
    C. VR produces the same effects on brains as real environments.
    D. VR is likely to become another driver for learning and memory.
( )29. What can we learn about Θ waves?
    A. They don't respond to different brain rhythms.
    B. They remain stable in different environments.
    C. They affect how human perceive knowledge.
    D. They have little to do with the rate of heartbeats.
( )30. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 5 refer to?
    A. The potential of the new technology.
    B. The control of human brain rhythms.
    C. The change in different parts of neurons.
    D. The stimulation of the unique brain waves.
( )31. How does the author introduce VR's different set of stimuli?
    A. By conducting further tests on rats. B. By comparing different environments.
    C. By providing a detailed analysis. D. By explaining the theory of VR.
    D
The new radio programme from Selfhelp expert Glennon Doyle unexpectedly disturbed me. In a session of WeCanDoHardThings, she focuses on boundaries and their importance to our mental happiness. I heartily agree with her, because saying a polite but firm “no” is one of the basics for a happy life. I was, however, interested when she raised the idea that perhaps, as well as learning when to confirm our boundaries, we also need to stretch them. When does a boundary become a cage that locks us away?
Isn't it always the case that just as you think you've got an area of life nailed; somebody comes along to show you that that's not the case? As I listened, I started to see boundaries that might cause more problems than they were solving.
There was the work boundary that said that unless a project fell exactly into my topics, I wouldn't take it—which meant that I turned down work that was otherwise interesting and rewarding.
There was the boundary that said I wasn't to buy anything until I'd reached my savings goal—which resulted in me having to restart my laptop 20 times a day.
And then there was a boundary around relationships that set out exactly how I should be treated and what I wanted in them. Helpful to some extent, it blocked me from allowing someone to express their love for me, even if it wasn't quite what I had predicted.
Had I been doing boundaries wrong all the time? Did I need to figure them all out again? I've spent the past few weeks looking at the boundaries I've secretly put in place, and I've let myself lower some that have been my protection over the years. Then I've come to the conclusion that, when it comes to boundaries, I'm a beginner again, and that's fine. In fact, being back at the beginning is a blessing because it means there are still lessons to be learned and adventures to be had and that is something for which I can only be grateful.
( )32. What has really interested the author in Glennon Doyle's programme?
    A. The importance of confirming our boundaries.
    B. The benefits of boundaries to our happiness.
    C. The urgency of maintaining our boundaries.
    D. The necessity of reassessing our boundaries.
( )33. What can be concluded as to the author's views on boundaries?
    A. We should favour savings goals over boundaries.
    B. Boundaries tend to keep us from potential friends.
    C. Boundaries are very likely to relieve boredom at work.
    D. We should stick to boundaries despite inconvenience.
( )34. How did the author feel about boundaries after the adjustments?
    A. Relaxed. B. Depressed. C. Pressured. D. Amused.
( )35. What is probably the best title for the passage?
    A. Just when you think you've got things sorted ...
    B. Just where you believe there's no way out ...
    C. How can we live a life without boundaries?
    D. How do we become victims of boundaries?

Shannan Hearne's oldest dream was to own a ranch(牧场). In February 2020, her dream finally came true when she opened the gates of Sun and Moon Ranch. Then, just a month later, the country slid into COVID19 lockdown. __36__
With large areas of grasslands and plenty of sunshine and fresh air, there was no safer way for frightened neighbors to get out of the house. __37__ Sure, you can sign up for riding lessons or board your horse. But you can also drop by to play with the chickens, goats, and dogs, or join the younger ranchers playing on the big pile of freshly dug dirt. Hearne now saw the ranch as something more than a business—it would be a place the community could call home.
__38__ Many of them came not just for free cookouts, but for the chance to find peace of mind. “I had a vision for the space able to help cure those in need,” says Hearne. Learning to control a horse with one hand helped him better manage his disability, and he grew closer to his grandmother over their shared love of horses. “__39__ And I believe this is especially true for children or anyone who struggles with any sort of psychological issues,” Hearne says.
Another boy became selectively silent because of his autism(自闭症). __40__ Taking the reins(缰绳), literally, helped him do so in his daily life too. “I could see how the empowerment of riding was helping him feel once again in control of the world around him,” says Hearne.

    B. As the pandemic deepened, locals began to gather there.
    C. Soon Hearne's dream began to grow into something bigger.

December 5, 2012, was a very special day for Josephine and Scott Lansing, as it marked the fourth adoption for the Lansings.
When they began the journey to adopt their first daughter, Cloe, years ago, Josephine and Scott Lansing never imagined they would eventually have a house full of girls. The couple later adopted Josie in 2011 and Annabelle in 2012. For the Lansing family, adoption is about giving every child the opportunity to grow healthily in a loving home. Scott and Josephine are great advocates for each of their daughters, and they make sure each child knows how special and loved they are.
In February of 2009, Bethany entered into the care of Child Protective Services due to her mother's inability to care for her and her brothers and sisters. Her experiences made it very difficult for her to trust adults, since she learned from an early age that she could only count on herself. She lived in a shelter for several months before moving into a foster home(寄养家庭). Still, Bethany struggled to understand why she had been taken away from the only family she had known. In May of 2010,Bethany was placed at Helping Hand Home for Children's Residential Treatment Center, where her journey to returning to normal finally began. With the patience, support, and guidance of the Helping Hand Home staff, Bethany developed healthy, appropriate ways to express her emotions. She was taught to respect herself, and she learned that it was okay to trust others.
When Bethany was introduced to the Lansing family in June of 2012, the meeting did not go as smoothly as everyone hoped. Bethany's insecurities resurfaced due to the suffering she experienced at such a young age, and she refused to talk or even look at the Lansings at their first meeting.
    注意:
    1. 续写词数应为150左右;
    2. 请按如下格式在相应位置作答。

But the Lansing family had no intention to give up. They were patient with Bethany and explained that they wanted to get to know her better and hoped she would one day be part of their family. The other girls shared their stories of coming from the foster care system, and they told her how scared they had been about meeting a new family too and how happy they were now. Soon Bethany's anxiety eased, and she agreed to go and see her new home. (77 words)
Later, Bethany experienced a lot of exciting things. From many hours spent at the neighborhood pool to her first trip to the beach, Bethany now lived the life every child deserves. The Lansings celebrated Bethany's 11th birthday with a superb cruise. When Bethany returns to Helping Hand Home to visit, the first thing everyone comments on is her selfconfidence. The little girl who was once afraid to make eye contact is now a secure, funny young lady who would talk your ear off. (77 words)

W: Did you have anything exciting during the weekend, Johnson?
M: No, not really. I was thinking of playing football with my friends. But the speech competition is approaching, so I had to stay at home to prepare for it.
    Text 2
M: If I work out twice per week, when will I have a sixpack stomach?
W: At least one month. But you'll also need to eat healthier foods and do running exercises.
M: Later on, I'll go to the gym three times per week rather than once.
    Text 3
M: I've been scared to travel by plane ever since I was a kid. I love driving, though.
W: I agree about flying. It's so inconvenient to drive long distances, though.
M: I bet a really fast train would be the best alternative.
W: Yes, that would be perfect!
    Text 4
M: Spain and France are some of the best football teams in the world. This will be a great game.
W: Are they playing here in Paris?
M: They chose a stadium in England to avoid giving either team homefield advantage.
    Text 5
W: Thank you, young man. This bag is so heavy. I never could have carried it onto the train.
M: My pleasure, ma'am. I saw you struggling and felt I needed to help.
W: You're a kind boy—you remind me of my grandson. Thanks again!
    Text 6
M: Should I dress as a soldier or a cowboy for Halloween?
W: You wear the same costume every year. Why don't you mix your costumes up and be a movie character like Iron Man?
M: Mom said she would buy me a superhero costume. That's a great idea. What are you being?
W: Probably nothing. I'm going to take a break from costumes and candy this year.
M: You'll be missing out on all the fun!
W: Not really. I'll stay home and watch some scary movies with Mom.
M: She'll love your company. After I go out with my friends, I'll join you.
W: It'll be so fun. I hope you can join us.
    Text 7
W: Where is the director? This is the third time he's been late this week.
M: If he is not here, tell the crew to break for lunch.
W: But it's barely 10:00 a.m. We only had breakfast two hours ago.
M: I know, but that will buy us an hour. I'll contact the studio to see if they know where he is.
W: Tell them they should fire him and you should take over.
M: I'm just the assistant director. I don't want to direct this movie.
W: But if you step up and show your leadership, the studio will notice that and give you a film you do want.
M: I hadn't thought of it like that, but you're right.
    Text 8
W: I want to find the perfect apartment, but I don't have time to wait.
M: I have many apartments. I promise to find you a good place to live.
W: I hope so. One of our requirements is a large kitchen, as my husband loves to cook.
M: I have a beautiful apartment downtown with new kitchen equipment.
W: My husband will take a look. I actually don't know much about kitchens. I'd also love to have big windows with a city view.
M: You'll love living downtown. The views are fantastic.
W: Living downtown would be nice. Now we live outside the city. This weekend I'll be out of town, and my work schedule keeps me busy most nights as well.
M: I have the same work hours.
W: Let's go as soon as possible. We need to move into a new apartment this month.
M: We can go on Monday. Then hopefully you'll be relaxing in your new downtown apartment by next week.
W: Thank you, but we need to keep our expectations low as we've had many problems recently.
    Text 9
M: Excuse me, Miss. You must show your ticket to board this train to Tokyo.
W: I'm sorry. I bought a ticket online, but I can't find a place to print out the information.
M: There's no need to print it out. If you show me the information on your phone, that will be OK.
W: The other problem is that I bought a ticket for the wrong departure time. I'm trying to change it, but the woman at the ticket office doesn't speak English. I'm so confused.
M: I'm sorry to hear about your trouble. If you'd like, I can help you talk to the ticket office staff.
W: That would be great. I've been so confused about organizing my ticket.
M: What time would you like to leave and how many people are you traveling with?
W: I'm still waiting for one of my friends to join me here, but I think she's running late. The train we need to take is leaving in about 30 minutes.
M: Miss, that is barely enough time. Do you urgently have to get to Tokyo?
W: Not really. We just agreed to take that train. She'll be here soon. I'll tell her I'll wait for her at the ticket office.
M: I understand. Now let's go talk to the lady at the ticket office.
    Text 10
W: Hello everyone, and welcome to today's job fair. We are here today to talk about choosing a career and exploring new job opportunities. Many young people look for careers in the most popular job markets such as computer programming or website design. These industries are important, because in the future we will continue to need more people working on computer technology. Additionally, many young people choose jobs in health care. Doctors and hospital workers will always be in high demand, but the fastestgrowing job market in the country today is health workers caring for people in their homes. Finding career opportunities also depends on where you live. If you live in Boston, the largest field of work is in universities. If you live in New York City, the largest workforce is in finance. Or, if you live here in Los Angeles like me, the largest industry is entertainment. Whichever opportunity you'd like to pursue, remember these important rules for having a career. The biggest rule is to do something that you have a passion for. Once you choose something inspiring, you must try to meet people in that industry. Meeting these people is not only to find progressive advice for your career, but also the best way to develop professional contacts and find a job for yourself. There are many people here from different industries to advise you and explain their businesses. To all young people here today, have fun and feel free to ask a lot of questions!
