Born in Philadelphia the youngest of five children,Ruiz grew up in a loving household in suburban South Jersey. But that is not her full story.Ruiz's father passed away when she was three, leaving her mother to raise the five children. The family moved more than she'd like to remember—three times when she was in 5th grade alone.

An environmental group in Colombia is leading a project to save wild areas in the San Lucas Mountains with the help of coffee growers.
Since 2016,San Lucas areas have been threatened by mining and coca(古柯) planting.Gold miners and coca growers make more money than coffee farmers. Now the group WebConserva helps link coffee farmers with coffee processors from around the country in order that they can earn more.At the same time coffee farms can serve as borders around forests to protect the biodiversity within.
To date, the project includes 10 families who farm 400 hectares of coffee plants.WebConserva said it hopes,in time,200 families will be included. At that level,20,000 hectares of untouched forest could be protected. The families promise not to cut down trees to expand their crops or to hunt wild animals. In return, they receive $ 300 for 125 kilograms of coffee.
Arcadio Barajas is among those taking part. His coffee farm sets up a barrier between cattle farms and forests where wild animals live, thus reducing the possibility of conflict between cattle farmers and wild animals.“Cutting down the forest to plant coca and killing wildlife were against my faith, and now I feel that growing coffee lets me be a good guard of the land,” he said.

It is a question we often wonder, especially as we age:How many years do I have left?Well, thanks to Brazilian doctor Claudio Gil Araujo, there is now a simple test you can perform right at home in just a few seconds that could predict how many years you have left to live, according to Discover.
Begin by standing straight in the middle of a room.Without using your arms or hands, carefully squat (蹲) into a crosslegged sitting position.Once you are comfortable, attempt to stand back up from the sitting position again, without using your arms or hands for help. The test is scored on a point scale between 1 and 10 (5 points for sitting,5 more points for standing back up). Each time you use an arm or a hand for help in balancing during the test, you subtract (减去) one point from 10 possible points and half a point is subtracted each time you lose your balance.
It seems like a pretty simple test of training, but Araujo found that it could predict life expectancy. He tested it on more than 2,000 of his patients aged 51 to 80,and found that people who scored less than 8 points on the test were twice as likely to die within the next six years. Those who scored three points or less were five times more likely to die within that same time.Overall, each point achieved in the test meant a 21percent reduction in mortality (死亡率).
Araujo's study was only performed on patients older than 50,so the results won't mean the same thing for younger ones taking the test. But without considering your age,the test should provide a useful benchmark (基准) for your health. If you are younger than 50 and have trouble with the test,it ought to be a wakeup call. The good news is that the younger you are,the more time you have to get into better shape.

13.What is the important part of Claudio Gil Araujo's test if people want to get a high score?

B.Squat into a crosslegged sitting position and keep the action.
C.Try to keep their balance without using arms or hands for help.
D.Try to stand back up from the sitting position as soon as possible.

Meditate(沉思).Meditating is more than a great way to relax. 18 When you meditate, you'll be focusing on clearing your head and concentrating on your body and breath. You can easily transfer these skills to clearing your head and focusing on the work ahead of you.

    39.to [考查介词。句意:一般来说,汉服通常是指清代(1644-1912)以前汉族人所穿的中国传统服饰。固定搭配refer to(指,涉及)。故填to。]
故填which。]

故填to create。]

    阅读下列材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头续写两段,使之构成一片完整的短文。
“You are stupid! You always mess things up! Now hand over your pocket money!”Jack shouted at me.I was frightened like a leaf in the wind.Jack was wellknown as the school bully(校园霸王)who always liked to pick on me.I shouted back at him,“No!This is my parents' hardearned money!”
When Jack heard this,he stared at me.I got ready for a fight as I thought that Jack would beat me.Instead,he walked away quietly. It was unlike Jack.
After school,as I was about to walk home,I saw an unbelievable sight—Jack was crying.I approached him.“What do you want?” he asked.I sat down next to him and asked him what was wrong.“My father...passed away.He was the only breadwinner of the family. Now my mother needs to find a job but she cannot find one.” I took pity on poor Jack and hugged him.I took out the remaining lunch money I had and handed it over to him.Jack's eyes nearly jumped out.He said,“You...you are actually giving this to me?”
I nodded my head and told him that it did not matter whether he was my enemy.I would help someone in need. After all,I also said there was no reason why we could not be friends.Tears ran down Jack's face and he apologized for all his past actions.
Later,Jack and I became best friends. My mother, who was the boss of a company, gave Jack's mother a job.During those months,Jack's mother worked hard and rose to the position of a manager. In school,I would study with Jack and helped him out with his schoolwork. He improved and became one of the top three students in the class. All was well until one day Jack had something to tell me.“I have to leave Singapore and move overseas,” he said.I felt angry that Jack was just going to leave after all that I had done for him.I also felt sad because I will miss him.
    注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
    2.请按如下格式作答。
    Twenty years passed.

    I asked the man,“Do I know you?”

    【参考范文】
Twenty years passed. One day,for no reason,I decided to walk down to the places where Jack and I used to hang out,the park and the city centre.I went to the city centre first as it was the first place where Jack and I started going out together.I bought an ice cream there, remembering that we both like ice cream in this flavor.I suddenly noticed a familiarlooking businessman eating an ice cream which had the same flavor as mine and sitting at the same table I was at.
I asked the man,“Do I know you?”“It's me!Jack!” the man said loudly.“I just came back to Singapore!”I couldn't help crying with joy.We hugged each other and I apologized for being angry at him at that time when I should have been more understanding. After this very day,we became even closer than before. This was my most touching moment—being reunited with a close friend.
