    Sectin A1a –1c
    Step 1 Revisin and lead in
    The teacher says I like basketball. Then asks: D yu like basketball/ vlleyball? D yu want t jin a basketball club?
    Step 2 Presentatin
    Ask the students t lk at the pictures f, there are sme clubs in it. Let’s lk at the clubs. What are they? They are art club, English club, chess club, swimming club and music club. What club d yu want t jin? Help the students t answer I want t jin the art club and s n.
    If the schl has clubs, the teacher can ask the students: What clubs d we have in ur schl?
    The teacher writes what club d yu want t jin? I want t jin… n the blackbard. Ask the students t practice it.
    Then intrduces the key vcabularies and the wrds can and can’t.
    The teacher says t the students wh say he/she wants t jin the basketball club: Can yu play basketball? Help the students say Yes, I can. N, I can’t. Then repeat with ther actins r pictures, such as play vlleyball.
    Shw the students the activities the peple in each club can d with the same step.
    Then repeat with dance, swim, play chess, paint, speak English and play the guitar with the help f ding the actin. Or we can use the PwerPint t help us t shw the students what we can d. The teacher can ask the students t practice the fllwing dialgues with can.
    Can yu dance? Yes, I can. / N, I can’t.

    Ask the students t practice can and can’t. Ask the students t practice can yu play it well?
    At the same time, the teacher write dwn sing, dance, swim, play chess, paint, speak English, and play the guitar n the blackbard. Ask the students t read after the teacher.
    Step 3 A game
    T be mre familiar with the wrds and phrases, the teacher can rganize a game like this:
    Write the wrds and phrases n pieces f paper. Ask ne f the students cme t the frnt and chse ne f the paper, then d the actin. Ask ther students t guess what he r she can d. Then exchange.
    Step 4 Exercise
    Task 1:
    Lk at the pictures 1a. Pints t the activities the peple in each club are ding. Say smething abut each club’s activity clearly. Fr example, this is a chess club. See the chess? They are playing chess.
    Ask the students t match each club activity in the picture with a wrd frm the list. Fr example: A can dance, s we can write “a” beside dance.
    The answers are: 1.dance a 2 swim e 3 sing f 4 play chess b 5 paint d 6 speak English c 7play the guitar g
    Task 2.
    Say each cnversatin with a student in Part 1a. After ding this, play the recrding the first time. Students nly listen. Play the recrding a secnd time. This time ask the students t listen t the cnversatins and write a number 1 next t the first cnversatin they hear, a number 2 next t the secnd ne they hear, and a number 3 next t the third ne they hear. Pint ut the sample answer. The answers are 2, 3, and 1.
    Task 3
    1c.Say the sample cnversatins. Have students repeat. Then ask students t practice the cnversatins in pairs. Ask them t use the vcabulary frm 1a. As students wrk, listen in n varius pairs s that yu can check prgress and help with prnunciatin as needed.
    After students have had a chance t practice the cnversatins, ask pairs t cme t the frnt f the rm and act ut ne f their cnversatins.

    Task 2. Fill in the frm. Write dwn three things yu can d and three things yu cannt d.

    Task 1: Ask the students t revise the names f the clubs they have learnt. D the actins and ask the students what the thing is.
    Task2: Ask the students: what can yu d? What can’t yu d? Can yu play chess? Can yu play the guitar? Can yu sing? What club d yu want t jin? Can yu play it well? If time permits, ask the student wh says he can d it t shw smething he can d.
    Step 2 Presentatin:
    Task1: (Listening practice)
    2a. Ask the students t read the cntext in 2a. Ask ne student t read the clubs in the bx. And ask anther tw students t read the dialgue. Ask all f them t listen t the recrding carefully, circle the clubs they hear. Play the recrding the first time. Students nly listen. Play the recrding a secnd time. This time ask the students t circle the club they hear frm the recrding. The answers are: English club, music club and chess club. And then ask the students t repeat the dialgue.
    Task 2(Listening practice)
    2b. Ask the students t lk at the dialgues f 2b n the right. Ask them if they can fill in the blanks directly. Play the recrding the first time. Students nly listen. Play the recrding a secnd time. This time ask the students t fill in the blanks with the wrds they hear frm the recrding. The answers are: d, t, want, club, play, can’t. Then ask the students t listen and repeat the dialgue.
    Task 3
    3a. Ask the students t put the cnversatin in rder. The first ne is given. The right rder is 2, 3, 1, and 4.
    Step 3 Survey
    After finishing task 2 in step1.the teacher can ask: Can he play the guitar? Can he play it well? Maybe there are all kinds f answers. Sme f the students may say I dn’t knw.
    3b.
    The teacher asks the students make a survey, and fill in the blanks.
    Ask the students t practice the dialgues by asking: What can yu d? Can yu dance? Can yu play the guitar? Can yu play it well? What club d yu want t jin? Etc. the teacher ges rund the classrm, gives help if necessary.
    Ask sme grups f students t act ut their dialgue.
    Step 4 Oral practice

    Ask the students t share the infrmatin they gt frm their friends. Help the students with he r she wants t jin the music club.
    Example: I am Lisa, I can sing, but I cannt sing well. I can swim. I think it is hard. I want t jin the swimming club. My friend Tm can play the guitar but he can’t play it well. And he can’t play chess. He wants t jin the chess club. He thinks it is interesting. He wants t learn it. If the students can d the reprt like this with the help f the teacher, they will be quite happy, and they will learn much knwledge.
    Task 1:
    4 grup wrk:
    Suppse yu are a bss, yu want t get sme gd wrkers. Hw t write an advertisement.
    Fcus students n the advertisement. Elicit the kind f persnal qualities that wuld be gd fr the jb, e.g. A gd teacher, a gd swimmer, and write them n the bard. Then elicit questins frm the qualities n the bard. E.g. can yu teach children? Can yu help kids with swimming?
    Divide the class int small grups and have them take turns interviewing each ther fr the jb.
    Walk rund the class ffering language supprt as needed.
    Practice Can yu help kids with…? Pay mre attentin t the things after “with”.
    e.g.
    Can yu help kids with swimming/ chess/ playing chess/ singing?
