One of the outstanding features of this unit is that language goal and language function can be organically combined, that is, using the modal verb can to talk about the ability of learning one aspect of oneself. This class is the first class of this unit, which requires students to master new vocabulary and key sentence patterns. Students are required to choose their favorite club according to their hobbies and express what they will do in the club.2. Student analysis:   The seventh grade students are lively and active, and their enthusiasm for participating in activities is very high. Present the new words:chess, guitar, club, story, show, sing, swim, dance, draw, speak, join, tell, write, talk, play chess, speak English, talk to, play the drums/piano/violin, sports/music/art/chess club, join a club        Show students the pictures and help students to understand the new words. Help them to say what the person is doing in the picture. Ask Students  to read the new words, and make sure that everyone can understand the meanings and read them correctly. Then use the new words to ask Students questions.T:Can you dance/swim/sing/draw/play chess/speak English/play the guitar? S: Yes, I can./No I can’t.2.Finally, after taking turns to ask and answer several times, let the students learn by themselves.Step 3 ConsolidateShow the pictures as quickly as possible. Let Ss say the new words. Then use the new words to make small conversations. T: Let’s play a game. Please say the new words as quickly as you can. Then make a conversation using the words, like this: A: Can you swim?  B: Yes, I can. /No, I can’t.Step4 Exercise   There are three questions on the screen three students to think about.
