C“they lack a sense f urgency"对应,故选择C。

本段落的核心落在“快速阅读”,第一句的“in a shrt time”可以锁定选项E。

36-40 CBADB 41-45 CADCA 46-50 CDBAC 51-55 DABCD
考固定搭配in vilatin f 违反,in favr f支持, in hnr f为...
后文“the chance”指的应该就是“t walk acrss the stage with his classmate",结合前文David被拒,故他应该是错失机会,即“miss the chance"。
Yu might have heard f the wrd game Wrdle. The nline puzzle has becme s. Ppular that sme peple cannt g 56 clay withut it. By Nvember 1, 2021 : nly 90 peple 57 (play) Wrdle but within tw mnths. that number had grwn t 300.000. Scial media users helped grw the 58 (ppular) f the game.

Yellw means the letter appears in the wrd but is in the wrng place while a gray letter means it des nt appear in the wrd al all.
Originally, the game 65 (create) t activate ffice atmsphere by Jsh Wardle, a New Yrk sftware engineer.
56. a 57. had played 58. ppularity 59. why 60. appearing
61. fr 62. tries 63. whse 64. and 65. was created
冠词的种类:定冠词(the),不定冠词(a、 an),零冠词(不加),这里的a day表示“任何一天”,“g”相当于“bear”, 表示“忍受”。The nline puzzle has becme s ppular that sme peple cannt g a day withut it.
57.had played。
It cntains just 30 empty squareswhich appear under the name "WORDLE."
63. whse。letters then turn different clrs t prvide clues abut the wrd主letters;系turn; 表different clrs ;目 的状语: t prvide clues abut the wrd由此可知,定语从句成分完整,填“whse",关系代词做定语,和前面先行词有明显的从属关系。T start, players enter a real wrd, whse letters then turn different clrs t prvide clues abut the wrd。
64. and。A green letter means the letter is in the wrd 64 is in the right psitin. A green letter means the letter is in the wrd and it is in the right psitin。it指代the letter,主语一致,前后无转折关系,用“and”连接。
Dear friends frm Ireland"
Sincere welcme t all f yu.

My family mved in a small huse in Brightn, Clrad n my seventh birthday. My first memry is ur neighbr Bill. an ld man, handing me strawberries frm his garden thrugh a hle in the chain-link (铁丝网) fence. "We need t make the hle bigger, "he said jkingly. Later I knew that he lived alne.
Bill spent much time wrking in the garden, and I was always talking t him frm ur yard. I was a chatterbx. I think what drew me t Bill is that he never gt tired f listening t me. I als think Bill saw a lt f himself in me- -we were bth lnely and anxius- -and that may be why he always tk the time t listen t me. It was a wnderful cnnectin.
There weren't any kids f my age in the neighbrhd, and my parents were very busy, s I mstly played in the yard with my dg. I had a lt f imaginary friends- -a whle family, actually with a wife, children, a best friend n jke. Weird kid.
One day, my parents asked Bill whether he'd watch me while they were away n business. This wrked well fr everyne, s it became a smewhat mnthly ccurrence. Bill had a spare rm in his huse, which became "my" rm.
Bill prmised t teach me t drive the lawn tractr (割草机) smeday and I was always lking frward t it. In winter, Bill wuld attach a snwplw (铲雪机) t the frnt f the lawn tractr. I seriusly tld him that I wuld invent a better snwplw when I grew up. "Sure yu will. Yu'll get a patent certificate. It takes a certificate t prve an imprtant thing. "Bill said with a smile.
One snwy mrning: an idea suddenly hit me. My parents were watching TV when I spit it ut, "What if I adpted Bill as my grandpa?" My parents said I culd g ver and ask him.
注意:
3.续写部分为两段。开头语己为你写好;
Paragraph 1
I kncked n his dr, sat dwn in his living rm, and asked. "Can I adpt yu as my grandpa?"
Paragraph 2
The next mrning, while learning t drive the 1awn tractr with a snwplw, I accidentally plwed dwn ur chain-link fence.
Bill: an ld man;说话比较jkingly..
段落中关键词句(除划线词外):“make the hle bigger”“jkingly”
I had a lt f imaginary friends--a whle family, actually, with a wife, children, a best jke.
Bill prmised t teach me t drive the lawn tractr smeday.
S nervus was I that I was afraid f being blamed by Bill, as my palms sweated cnstantly. But what Bill uttered next pushed ur relatinship clser. He viced in a jking tne as usual, “Oh, s lvely my grandsn is! Yu d make the hle in the fence bigger as I tld yu!”
“四点情节法”中的另外三个点,还有一个也可以用原文信息解决,我选择化用原文第三段的“I had a lt f imaginary friends--a whle family, actually, with a wife, children, a best friend.. .n jke." I hugged back, and thught in my heart,“ Fine, maybe I
indeed have a lt f imaginary friends- at least, a best friend.. N jke."
I kncked n his dr, sat dwn in his living rm, and asked," Can I adpt yu
as my grandpa?"
Rted t the spt, Bill was bviusly shcked by what I said.
Abruptly, it ccurred t my “grandpa” Bill that he had prmised t teach me the driving strategies f the lawn tractr. Thus, we decided t start up it the next mrning.
Rted t the spt, Bill was bviusly shcked by what I said.
Abruptly, it ccurred t my“grandpa”Bill that he had prmised t teach me the driving strategies f the lawn tractr. Thus, we decided t start up it the next mrning.
S nervus was I that I was afraid f being blamed by Bill, as my palms sweated cnstantly. But what Bill uttered next pushed ur relatinship mre cnnected. He bantered in a jking tne as usual,“ Oh, s lvely my grandsn is! Yu d make the hle in the fence bigger as I tld yu!”
I hugged back, and thught in my heart,“ Fine, I indeed turned imaginary friends int friends- at least, a best friend... N jke."
I kncked n his dr, sat dwn in his living rm, and asked. "Can I adpt yu as my grandparents?" Bill std frzen fr a little while befre a brad smile came acrss his face. Then I saw tears in his eyes. He wrapped me in his arms and buried his face in my cat t hide his tears, his vice trembling. "Of curse sweet heart! I'm s happy t be yur grandpa!" Sn after Bill printed ut an adptin certificate and hung it n the wall f ''my" rm. Gazing at the snw utside, Bill said t me excitedly, "It's time t learn hw t drive a lawn tractr."
The next mrning, while learning t drive the lawn tractr with a snwplw, I accidentally plwed dwn ur chain-link fence. I was almst frightened t tears, but Bill just chuckled in his laid-back way and cmfrted me, "Dn't wrry, Grandsn. I have already planned t change a fence. "We eventually replaced it with a nice, tall wden fence. My dad and Bill installed it tgether. What impressed me mst was that there was a dr n the fence, which definitely strengthened ur cnnectin. Underneath, I knew that we were a true family nw.
