If you were to look at the Instagram account of Jenny, you would indeed see what looks like the perfect life.
However, despite the enviable content of her Instagram,I learned through conversations with this girl that it was. all carefully handled. Everything was put together to maintain the public image that she was a happy﹣go﹣lucky, carefree (无忧无虑的)girl. When she was sad or upset, there was no indication of these emotions on her Instagram.
In fact, we all choose our online media presence. Look through your Instagram ﹣﹣﹣I bet that you don't post pictures where you don't feel camera﹣ready. On Instagram, we always show our "good side". Think about it. Would you rather post "I tried so hard but I ended up failing my test" or "I treated myself to a hot coffee after studying hard all week"?
We all want to present the best parts of our lives,to show what's going well, and what we're proud of. We take photos of the nice things we own, or of any sorts of events considered "special",such as invite﹣only or formal parties. We post photos of the good times rather than the bad times. No matter what happens,we try to make our online image perfect.

19.(12.5分)Bad drivers in the District could soon get a serious warning sent straight to their cellphones. The city is working to identify drivers with a history of traffic violations, such as speeding and red﹣light camera tickets, to send messages alerting them of their history of infractions (违规) while warning of their risks of getting into a fatal crash.
City officials say they hope the pointed messages (定制信息) will deter dangerous road behaviors. "We know that there is a subset of drivers that are putting others at serious risk with excessive speeding and red﹣light running," said Jeff Marootian, director of the city's Department of Transportation, one of the agencies leading the effort. "We're hoping that this creative approach can ultimately reduce serious injury and fatality crashes."
"This is a creative approach that we haven't tried before, and we think that it is worth the effort," Marootian said. The concept, which D.C. officials say is a first among cities nationwide, is the latest effort to target dangerous drivers in a city where serious and fatal crashes are on the rise. City leaders said evidence shows drivers with multiple traffic violations are more likely to be involved in crashes.
Researchers have studied the relationship between repeat traffic offenders and serious collisions(碰撞),with some data suggesting a strong connection between the two. But some researchers also have pointed to other factors at play, such as the amount of time the driver spends on the road and exposure to traffic enforcement (强制性)systems.
A team from The Lab led by Muriel E. Bowser, is examining data from the District's automated traffic enforcement program to predict a driver's likelihood of being involved in a serious crash. It will create a campaign that could include text messages and. mail sent to a sample of high﹣risk drivers. "We will evaluate whether drivers who receive these messages have fewer red﹣light violations, speeding violations, and Ultimately, clashes, compared to the group of high﹣risk drivers who do not receive the messages," according to The Lab.
The program is among the latest road﹣safety measures with the purpose of cutting the growing number of traffic injuries and fatalities. Although the new messages appear as a warning to higher﹣risk drivers city officials said the intent is to educate the recipient,Marootian said there is no violation or fine attached to the message and that the campaign is to use data to directly communicate with individual drivers. Some questioned whether the message will work.
(1)What does the underlined word "deter" in paragraph 2 probably mean?
A. Prevent.
B. Change.
C. Control.
D. Handle.
(2)What do we know about the approach to sending pointed messages?
A. It may put the drivers at serious risk of crashing.
B. It can identify drivers with records of traffic accidents.
C. It will completely reduce serious injury and fatality crashes.
D. It is the newest attempt in response to the rising crashes.
(3)What can we infer from the fourth paragraph?
A. Traffic offenders always cause serious accidents.
B. New drivers bear less blame for serious collisions.
C. Different elements may contribute to serious accidents.
D. Traffic offenders should spend too much time on the road.
(4)How do the team from The Lab know whether the approach works?
A. By sending messages to the drivers.
B. By comparing the impact of the approach on two groups.
C. By predicting the possibility of a driver's involvement in a crash.
D. By checking the response of the receivers who get the messages.
(5)What is the text mainly about?
A. A traffic report.
B. A scientific method.
C. A professional survey.
D. A teaching program.
Last week, my younger brother visited me for five days. To ensure I could spend as much time with him as possible, I worked extra hard during the weekend before he arrived.
It amazed me how much I could accomplish when I had a strong motivation to be efficient. During the week,I put in a couple of hours in the mornings to handle pressing issues and then spent the afternoons and evenings going out with him. One again, I was surprised to realize just how much free time was available to me if I consciously chose to be more effective while working. This made me think of Parkinson's Law: Work expands to fill the time available for its completion.
I realized then that I'd given myself more time than necessary for work, and as a result,I ended up spending lot of time procrastinating(拖延)and entertaining myself online.
How might things change for me, I wondered, if I chose to commit to more social and recreational(休闲娱乐)activities, made them priorities(优先事项)and was motivated to finish work quicker?
I realize not everyone has flexibility in their work schedules, but I believe we could all create more time for ourselves if we were motivated to cut out the choices that don't match our strongest desires and intentions. Maybe it's zoning out in front of the TV or searching the web. If there's one thing that's consumed my time the most, it's researching how I actually want to spend it.
I believe what English musician John Lennon said is true: Time that you enjoyed wasting was not wasted. I don't think there's anything wrong with using technology if we've consciously chosen to do it.
However, we owe it to ourselves to get out in the world and explore different possibilities ﹣to be playful curious, engaged and just to be.
Perhaps it would be easier to do that if we asked ourselves:How can I be more effective? Can I minimize what I am currently doing? How can I start using the time I've created in a way that will excite and inspire me?
(1)How did the author feel when she finished her work in advance?
A. Guilty.
B. Exhausted.
C. Stressed.
D. Surprised.
(2)What does the underlined word "this" in paragraph 2 refer to?
A. The change in her work efficiency.
B. Ways of dealing with pressing issues.
C. Her working motivation to be different.
D. The time spent with her younger brother.
(3)What does the author advise us to do to make more time for ourselves?
A. Commit to more personal activities.
B. Get your priorities right with your work.
C. Create a tight work schedule for ourselves.
D. Don't waste time on technology for any reason.
(4)What is the author's main purpose in writing this article?
A. To explain what Parkinson's Law is.
B. To reflect on better time management.
C. To introduce how to balance work and life.
D. To show the importance of accompanying family members.
(5)Which of the following is best title for the text?
A. Creating More Time
B. Living Life to the Fullest
C. Skills for Doing Work Effectively
D. Relationship Influences Work Performance
Last summer, Katie Steller pulled off the freeway on her way to work. She stopped at a traffic light, where a man was sitting with a sign asking for help. She rolled down her window.
"Hey!" she shouted. "I'm driving around giving free haircuts. Do you want one right now?" "Actually," the man said, "I was really hoping to get a haircut."
"I'll be right back," Steller said. She drove off, went to the salon she owns, and recruited one of her stylists to help her load a red chair into her car. Then the two of them drove back, and trimmed the man's curly graying hair. He told them about growing up in Mississippi, about moving to be closer to his adult children, and how he still talks to his mom every day. After Steller was done, the man looked in a mirror,"I look good!" he said.
To date,Steller has given 30 or so such haircuts to people around the city. These people are all living on the margins, and she is keenly aware of the power of her cleanup job.
"It's more than a haircut," she says,"I want it to be a gateway,to show value and respect, but also to get to know people and build relationships." Steller knows that a haircut can change a life. "Part of what broke my heart was just how lonely people looked," she says. "I thought maybe I'd go around and ask if people want free haircuts. I can't fix their problems, but maybe I can help them feel less alone for a moment."
Steller listens to people's stories of loss, addiction, and struggle to get back on their feet. The attention apparently works. When she was cutting a woman's hair one day, someone drove by and yelled,"You look amazing!" The woman in the chair smiled. "I'm not invisible," she exclaimed. "I thought I was invisible. Look, people see me!"
And it all began with a belief in simple acts of kindness, such as a free haircut. "The way you show up in the world matters," says Steller. "You have no idea what people are going to do with the kindness that you give them."
(1)Why did Steller stop at a traffic light? (No more than 13 words)
(2)What did the man do when his hair was being trimmed? (No more than 10 words)
(3)How did the woman feel after a fee haircut? (No more than 5 words)
(4)What does the underlined words in paragraph 6 probably mean? (No more than 9 words)
(5)What do you think of Katie Steller? and why? (No more than 18 words)

Stand over thereyou'll be able to see it better.A. orB. andC. butD. while 答案是 B.
I have some good news for you. You've been accepted as a member of our club.
﹣﹣﹣_____________ That's great!( )
A.Good idea! B.Pardon?
C.Congratulations! D.Have I?
A项"好主意";B项"再说一遍";C项"再说一遍";D项"是吗?";根据"That's great"可知,说话者听到消息后很惊喜."Have I?"是"Have I been accepted as a member of our club?"
I wonder why you failed so many of the questions. Only the first question was difficult, but the rest, I thought,________very easy.( )
A.is B.are C.was D.were
Credit cards are _________ useful when we travel.
﹣True.We needn't take too much cash.( )
A.partly B.particularly
C.exactly D.gradually
4.(1分)________is widely accepted, in the Middle East Arabs greet each other by touching noses, but this is not a polite way of greeting in other cultures.( )
A.As B.It C.Which D.What
故选:A。
As we can see,he is a Chinese.
As he is so lazy,he never cooks by himself.
As the weather is colder and colder, the leaves of the tree is less and less.
You must do the work as I have told you.
Though he is a little boy,he knows a lot.
Little boy as he is,he knows a lot.
Though he works hard,he never succeed.
Hard as he works,he never succeed.
What happened to her?
﹣﹣﹣She was _____ to hospital with a soaring temperature.( )
A.adapted B.adjusted C.admitted D.adopted
I always read newspapers backwards because the back pages are the sport is.( )
A.that B.where C.how D.what
Will you take my previous experience into_______when you fix my salary?
﹣You bet. We always do for senior﹣level positions.( )
A.mind B.thought C.reference D.account
A.mind思维,注意;B.thought想法;C.reference参考;D.account描述,账户。
We didn't travel much during the holiday,______because of the tight budget, but also because of the huge crowds.( )
A.in turn B.in part C.in vain D.in effect

There's absolutely nothing wrong with making your online presence perfect﹣everyone' does it in some way or another. However, when it comes to feeling envious of someone else's Instagram posts, remember that just like you, they're showing their good side.

B. We should always show our good side.
C. We shouldn't perfect our online image.

C. It is rather natural for people to make perfect online presence.
D. Feeling envious of someone's perfect life online should be encouraged.
(5)Where is the text mast probably taken from?
A. A professor's speech.
B. A survey of people's life.
C. A personal online account.
D. An entertainment magazine.

She lives an ordinary life just like others'.(她和别人一样过着平凡的生活。)

However, when it comes to feeling envious of someone else's Wechat posts, remember that just like you, they're showing their good side.(但是当要羡慕别人的朋友圈时,请记住,就像你一样,他们也只表现出了自己的好的一面)"可知,作者认为我们没必要羡慕别人在网上表现出来的样子。故选D项。

【解答】(1)A. We know that there is a subset of drivers that are putting others at serious risk with excessive speeding and red﹣light running,' said Jeff Marootian, director of the city's Department of Transportation, one of the agencies leading the effort. 'We're hoping that this creative approach can ultimately reduce serious injury and fatality crashes." A. Prevent.阻止;B. Change.改变;C. Control.控制;D. Handle.解决。故选A.
(2)B. The city is working to identify drivers with a history of traffic violations, such as speeding and red﹣light camera tickets, to send messages alerting them of their history of infractions ( 违规) while warning of their risks of getting into a fatal crash. " (该市正在努力识别有超速、闯红灯等交通违章记录的司机,以便向他们发送信息,提醒他们违章记录,同时警告他们发生致命车祸的风险。) 由此可知,发送指定信息的方法可以识别有交通违章记录的司机。故选B.
(3)C.推理判断题。根据第四段"Researchers have studied the relationship between repeat trafic offenders and serious ollisions (碰撞) ,with some data suggesting a strong connection between the two. But some researchers also have pointed to other factors at play, such as the amount of time the driver spends on the road and exposure to traffic enforcement ( 强制性) systems. (研究人员研究了多次违规者和严重碰撞之间的关系,一些数据表明两者之间有很强的联系。但一些研究人员也指出,其他因素也在起作用,比如司机在道路上花费的时间和接触交通执法系统的时间。) 由此可推断,造成严重事故有很多不同的因素。故选C.
(4)B.细节理解题。根据第五段"We will evaluate whether drivers who receive these messages have fewer red﹣light violations, speeding violations, and ultimately, clashes, compared to the group of high﹣risk drivers who do not receive the messages,"according to The Lab.
Bad drivers in the District could soon get a serious warning sent straight to their cellphones. The cityis working to identify drivers with a history of traffic violations, such as speeding and red﹣light camera tickets, to send messages alerting them of their history of infractions ( 违规) while warning of their risks of getting into a fatal crash. " (华盛顿特区的高危司机很快就会收到直接发送到手机上的严重警告。该市正在努力识别有超速、闯红灯等交通违章记录的司机,以便向他们发送信息,提醒他们违章记录,同时警告他们发生致命车祸的风险。) 和第二段最后一句"We're hoping that this creative approach can utimately reduce serious injury and fatality crashes." This is a creative approach that we haven't tried before, and we think that it is worth the effort,"Marootian said.( "这是一种创造性的方法,我们以前从未尝试过,我们认为这是值得的, "Marootian说。)
A. Guilty.
B. Exhausted.
C. Stressed.
D. Surprised.

A. Creating More Time
B. Living Life to the Fullest
C. Skills for Doing Work Effectively
D. Relationship Influences Work Performance
It amazed me how much I could accomplish when I had a strong motivation to be efficient.(当我有强烈的动力去提高效率的时候,我能完成多少事情让我感到惊讶)"以及第三段中"Once again, I was surprised to realize just how much free time was available to me if I consciously chose to be more effective while working.(我再一次惊讶地意识到,如果我有意识地选择在工作时更有效率,那我能有更多空闲时间)"可知,作者对于自己能在更短的时间内完成工作感到惊奇,A.
(2)A. Once again, I was surprised to realize just how much free time was available to me if I consciously chose to be more effective while working. (我再一次惊讶地意识到,如果我有意识地选择在工作时更有效率,那我能有更多空闲时间)"以及第四段"This made me think of Parkinson's Law: Work expands to fill the time available for its completion.(这让我想到了帕金森氏定律:工作的扩展是为了填满完成工作所需的时间)"可知,是作者工作效率的变化让她想到了帕金森定律。故选A.
(3)B. I realize not everyone has flexible work schedules, but I believe we could all create more time for ourselves if we were motivated to cut out the choices that don't match our strongest desires and intentions.(我知道不是每个人都有灵活的工作时间,但我相信,如果我们有动力放弃那些不符合我们最强烈愿望和意图的选择,我们都可以为自己创造更多的时间)"可知,作者建议我们把工作重点放在正确的事情来为自己腾出更多的时间。故选B.
(4)B. Perhaps it would be easier to do that if we asked ourselves: How can I be more effective? Can I minimize what I am currently doing? How can I start using the time I've created in a way that will excite and inspire me?(也许,如果我们扪心自问:我怎样才能更有效率?我能把我正在做的事情最小化吗?我怎样开始利用我所创造的时间,让我感到兴奋和鼓舞?)"结合文中作者结合自身经历,意识到当自己强烈渴望提高效率时,往往可以在很短的时间内完成许多事情,从而引发了作者对于如何更有效地进行时间管理的反思。可推知,作者写这篇文章的主要目的是反思更好的时间管理。故选B.
(5)C. 标题归纳题。阅读全文以及根据最后一段"Perhaps it would be easier to do that if we asked ourselves:How can I be more effective? Can I minimize what I am currently doing? How can I start using the time I've created in a way that will excite and inspire me?如果我们问自己:我如何才能更有效?我能把我目前正在做的事情减到最低程度吗?我如何开始利用我创造的时间,以一种能激发和激励我的方式"可知文中作者结合自身经历,意识到当自己强烈渴望提高效率时,往往可以在很短的时间内完成许多事情,从而引发了作者对于如何更有效地进行时间管理的反思。所以"C. Skills for Doing Work Effectively"作为题目最合适。故选C.

(No more than 13 words) Because she wanted to help the man sitting there get a haircut.
(2)What did the man do when his hair was being trimmed? (No more than 10 words) The man told his story.
(3)How did the woman feel after a fee haircut? (No more than 5 words) He felt very good.
(4)What does the underlined words in paragraph 6 probably mean? (No more than 9 words) That means "pick oneself up".
(5)What do you think of Katie Steller? and why? (No more than 18 words) Katie Steller is kind and great. She does some kind acts to inspire others spread their own.
