Unit3 Spring Begins from March It’s my great honor to have this opportunity to share my teaching design with you. It has 10 parts as following.Ⅰ. Teaching PatternThe class adopted small-sized class teaching pattern. It allows students to work closely with teachers, fostering a relationship that is warm with teachers and create a close-knit community which can motivate students’ learning motivation strongly.Ⅱ.Teaching MaterialThe teaching material used in this class is selected from Shaanxi Tourism Press, the second semester of Grade Five, Unit3 Spring Begins from March. It’s a vocabulary class. The main ideal of this unit is talking about the 12 months and corresponding seasons, which related to daily life so that easier for students to master. Ⅲ. Analysis of StudentsTarget students are from Grade Five. After learning English for two years, they can be able to think, analyze and organize in class. But most of them can’t speak English confidently. So I would pay more attention to improve their speaking and listening with target language. Ⅳ. Teaching Objectives According to the new curriculum standard, teaching material and students situation, I set following objectives:(1) The knowledge objective: students can pronounce and recognize new words January, February, June, July, August, September, October, November, December.(2) The ability objective: students can learn some speaking and listening skills to enrich their language abilities.(3) The emotional objective: to know about the importance of weather which influenced our life mostly.Ⅴ. Teaching key points and difficult points(1) The key point is to master the target words: January, February, June, July, August, September, October, November, December.(2) The difficult point is to use the target words precisely. Ⅵ. Teaching Methods(1) Phonic teaching method(2) Student centered approach(3) TPR(Total Physical Response) method(4) Game teaching method(5) Competitive method Ⅶ. Teaching Aids: self-made flash cards, magic stick, balloons, sunglasses and seewo courseware.Ⅷ. Teaching ProceduresTeacher’s ActivitiesStudents’ ActivitiesIntentionsStep1 GreetingSinging greeting song like Happy Birthday tune with clapping hands: Good morning to you(clap, clap), good morning classmates(clap, clap)! Students: Good morning to you(clap, clap), good morning Miss Lu(clap, clap)!To start in a new way that students won’t get boring at very beginning.Step1 Warming upSinging the Season Chant;Dividing groups into A and B.Singing the Season Chant together with snapping fingers.To review the season and last class;To attract Students’ interests with snapping fingers;To cultivate competitive thoughts.Step 2 Lead-inT: Which season is it (point at the chant)?T: Good. Today we will learn a new unit.Students: It’s spring.Leading by season chant that related to spring starting the new unit naturally.Step 3 PresentationShowing nine balloons stuck on the stage. There are nine target months in balloons. Students can stick them randomly by the magic stick. Then teacher teaches the target month respectively. Using four cartoon girls to represent four seasons. Showing spring girl and spring months on minor blackboard.Sticking balloons randomly and showing target months in corresponding seasons.Learning by:① Using opposite sound ( June, September);② Writing target months with different body parts ( June);③ Listening pronunciations of each target months;④ Finding out the odd-number months after learning June, September and November;⑤ (January, July)T: stamping your feet and clapping your hands. T: January/ July Students:One/ Seven.⑥ Do the action of target months like swimming ( August)⑦ Matching the target months with corresponding numbers.⑧ Blowing balloons in groups to learn the January, February and December. Try them best to follow the procedure To learn the target words in games competitively. To present target words;To better Students’ pronunciation and intonation abilities; To guide Students to learn the new words naturally by enjoying games;To cultivate their competitive minds.Step 4 ConsolidationPreparing a game that students classify the 12 months into 30 days and 31days. Enjoy the games and the quickest group would be winner.To set student as centered.To stimulate Students’ competitive thoughts.Step 5 ConclusionTo review target words by the song 12 Months of the year. Imitating actions and intonation of the singer.Try to memorize the target words and to imitate the singer’s action and intonation,then check scores together.To review target words and consolidate them again.To cultivate students’ ability of reviewing.
