1. 过去进行时主要表示：￭ 在过去某一时刻正在进行的动作 They were eating breakfast at 7:00 a.m. yesterday.(b) I was writing a letter at this time yesterday.￭ 在过去某段时间一直在进行的动作(a) Frm 6:40 a.m. t 7:20 a.m., we were reading English tday.(b) He was playing cmputer games until 12 ’clck yesterday evening.
2. 过去进行时的句式(1) 基本结构：was / were + verb-inge.g. I was ding sme shpping. Peple were running wildly.(2) 否定式：was / were nt + verb-ing was nt = wasn’t were nt = weren’te.g. I was nt reading. Peple were nt running wildly.(3) 疑问句：将 was / were 调到主语前e.g. ---Was he running? ---Yes, he was. / N, he wasn’t. ---Were they running? ---Yes, they were. / N, they weren’t.

1. when, while 和 as 这三个词都有“当……时候”的意思。e.g. I was sleeping when the earthquake started. As I was trying t find my way ut, I suddenly heard sme nise abve me. Peple were running in all directins while pieces f glass and bricks were falling dwn.
2. 用while, when, as这三个连词连接时间状语从句时，从句和主句的谓语动词时态有规定：1) 当短动作和长动作同时发生，我们用过去进行时表示长动作，用一般过去时表示短动作2) 两个都是长动作。用while连接从句e.g. Peple were running while bricks were falling dwn.3) 主句是短动作，用while, as, when连接从句(长动作)e.g. While/As/When Millie was watching TV, Andy came int the rm.4) 主句是长动作，用when连接从句(短动作)e.g. I was sleeping when the earth started t shake.5) 两个都是短动作，常用as连接从句，强调同时发生e.g. As Millie sat dwn, Andy came in.
3. 当 while , when 和 as 放在句首时，两个句子应用逗号隔开。放在主句后面时，不必用逗号隔开。e.g. When the teacher came in, we were talking. While the pig was dancing, the rabbit was jumping. As the tw men were leaving, a message arrived.
