用来强调一个句子中除谓语以外的句子成分。去掉强调句式It is/was…that…后，剩余句子的结构和句意是完整的。

It is a meeting that they will have in the hall tmrrw.

It is in the hall that they will have a meeting tmrrw.

1．一般疑问句的强调：
Was it yur brther that yu met at Mc Dnald?
Yu met yur brther at Mc Dnald.
It was yur brther that yu met at Mc Dnald.
Tm has brrwed yur mney recently.
It is Tm that has brrwed yur mney recently.
①原句中谓语动词使用的是现在范畴的时态用It ：一般现在时、现在进行时、现在完成时、现在完成进行时、一般将来时、将来进行时、将来完成时等。②原句中谓语动词为过去范畴的时态用It ：一般过去时、过去进行时、过去完成时、过去将来时等。
(1)Where did yu see her cellphne yesterday ? （强调特殊疑问词where）　 (2)Hw will yu g t visit her tmrrw?（强调特殊疑问词hw）　
2 . 特殊疑问句的强调：
Hw is it that yu will g t visit her tmrrw?
Where was it that yu saw her cellphne yesterday?
(1)I came hme late because it was raining hard. (强调状语从句) (2) What yu said really made us sad.(强调主语从句)
It was what yu said that really made us sad.
It was because it was raining hard that I came hme late.
We did nt get ff the bus until it stpped . It was nt until it stpped that we gt ff the bus.(注意：强调该结构时nt until不能分开)My father didn't cme hme until 12 'clck last night.
4.nt until 结构的强调：
It was nt until 12 'clck last night that my father came hme.
用It is/was…that…对划线部分进行强调

“It is/was— that”去掉，如果剩余部分句子结构仍然完整，那么这个句子就是强调句；如果句子不完整，则不是强调句。如：
注：强调时间状语和地点状语时与定语从句的区别：（1）It was in 1921 that ur Party was funded.(强调句式)（2）It was 1921 when ur Party was funded.(定语从句) 即：强调时间或地点时有介词置于其前时，则连接词用that。其前面应有介词而被省去时，则用连接词when（时间）或where(地点)。又如：
(3)It was n the farm that we practiced planting crps. (4)It was the farm where we learned a lt .
但是应注意，有些表示时间或地点的词汇及短语本身不需要在其前面加介词，故其连词也只能是that,而不是when或where。如： (5)It was yesterday that we chatted a lt nline. (6)It was there that Mike was drwned yesterday.
