Briana
Therapist’s advice: If you do nothing, then nothing will happen. But if you do something, then something might happen.
Briana’s thoughts: Doing nothing leads to nothing and I have to brat my depression(抑郁) by doing something. The something could be only taking a walk anywhere you like or mindlessly watching TV at home. To beat a mental illness, you always have to be doing something even when you feel like doing nothing at all. When you form a habit of doing something, you have managed to make it. You’ll feel better and better.
Sofia
Therapist’s advice: You want to be perfect in everything and the reality is that you can’t. So whenever facing a task, ask yourself how much you’re willing to give and how much is healthy for you to give.
Sofia’s thoughts: I’m a perfectionist, so I want everything to be the best, and am pretty demanding of myself and I don’t want to rest until it’s just how I want. That is totally exhausting. Sometimes I want to be the best student but I can’t, so I lower my expectations according to my mental health, and what I know is best for me.
Evelyn
Therapist’s advice: Know yourself and change your perspective(视角). Then everything else will fall into place.
Evelyn’s thoughts: I would make situations out of nothing, speak without thinking twice and have moments when I would be screaming to get my point across. But now I realize that it’s my mindset that has to change and my overall outlook(人生观) on my natural abilities to succeed. So knowing myself and others properly and saying or doing something practically help me a lot. It all depends on my thoughts. Changing myself is helping myself.
Victoria
Therapist’s advice: It’s appropriate(合情合理的) to say “NO”.
Victoria’s thoughts: As an avid people pleaser, I am often consumed and anxious about others’ opinions of me. This causes me to stretch myself thin----to my mental and physical breaking point. I felt that I couldn’t say no to anything without a good reason. Sometimes it’s beyond my ability to do something, but I don’t know how to refuse. My therapist told me that my time is a resource that I can choose to give to others or not. And I don’t owe anyone an explanation.

A. Briana B.Sofia C.Evelyn D.Victoria
32. From the information above, we can infer(推断) that__________.

How do we know the time? A clock, a watch or a mobile phone can help us.However, many
years ago there were no clocks and knowing the time was not so easy. Over the centuries people have developed different ways of telling the time.
About 5,500 years ago,the Egyptians invented the sun clock. This was a tall stone building. Its shadow(影子)showed the movement of the sun. So people were able to know midday. The Egyptians made a sundial about 3,500 years ago.It was smaller than the sun clock and could measure the time for half a day. On cloudy days or at night it was impossible to tell the time with a sun clock or a sundial.Water clocks were the first clocks not to use the sun. The idea is simple. Water flows from one container to another,When the water reaches a certain level, it moves a lever (控制杆)and this shows the hours. The Egyptians used water clocks about 3,400 years ago. These clocks were popular in the Middle East and China. But they failed to make people know the exact time,
In the 13th century, the mechanical clock was invented. This was more exact, but it was
expensive to make one. Over the next few centuries, it was developed. For example, springs(发条)
were added around 1,500. This enabled people to get the correct time and allowed clocks to be
SHOrlls In 1936 e f1o quartz clock was developed.Clocks became cheaper to build. It's easy for
ordinary people to own a clock,People began depending on then more and more to ran business ,markets and so on .More recently ,in 1956,came the digital clock .And nowadays satellites send our mobile phones the time to the exact second.
There has been a lot of progress in timekeeping. Clocks are always changing but some things never change . Many of us still have trouble getting out of bed on tine and not missing appointments.

Two friends have an argument that breaks up their friendship forever, even though neither one can remember how the whole thing got started. Such sad events happen over and over in high schools across the country. In fact, according to an official report on youth violence (暴力), "In our country today, the greatest warning to the lives of children and teenagers is not disease or hunger or traffic accidents, but the terrible reality of violence". Given that this is the case, why aren’t students taught to manage conflict (冲突) the way they are taught to solve math problems, drive cars, or stay physically fit?
First of all, students need to realize that conflict is unavoidable. A report on violence among middle school and high school students shows that most violent incidents between students begin with a relatively minor insult (悔辱) For example, a fight could start over the fact that one student eats a peanut butter sandwich each lunchtime. Laughter over the sandwich can lead to insults, which in turn can lead to violence. The problem isn't in the sandwich, but in the way students deal with the conflict.
Once students realize that conflict is unavoidable, they can practice the golden rule of conflict
resolution(解决): stay calm. Once the student feels calmer, he or she should choose words that will calm
the other person down as well. Rude words, name calling, and blame only add fuel to the emotional fire.
On the other hand, soft words spoken at a normal sound level can put out the fire before it became out of
control.
After both sides have calmed down, they can use another key strategy (策略) for conflict resolution:
listening. Listening allows the two sides to understand each other. One person should describe his or her
side, and the other person should listen without cutting in. Afterward, the listener can ask non -
- threatening questions to express the speaker’s opinions and thoughts. Then the two people should
change roles.
Finally, students need to consider what they are bearing. This doesn't mean trying to find out what’s wrong with the other person. It means understanding what the real problem is and what both sides are trying to complete. For example, a shouting match over a peanut butter sandwich might happen because one person thinks the other person is unwilling to try new things. Students need to ask themselves questions such as these: How did this start? What do I really want? What am I afraid of? As the problem becomes clearer, the conflict often simply becomes smaller. Even if it doesn't, careful thought helps both sides find out a solution together.
There will always be conflict in schools, but that doesn't mean there needs to be violence. After students in Atlanta started a conflict resolution program, according to Educators for Social Responsibility,"64 percent of the teachers reported less physical violence in the classroom; 75 percent of the teachers reported an increase in student cooperation; and 92 percent of the students felt beter about themselves". Learning to solve conflicts can help students deal with friends, teachers, parents, bosses, and coworkers. In that way, conflict resolution is a basic life skill that should be taught in schools across the country.
38. What can we learn from paragraph 2?

C. Violence is more likely to happen at lunchtime.
D. The eating habit of a student is often the cause of a fight.
39. Why do students need to ask therselves the questions stated in Paragraph 5?
A. To find out who is to blame. B. To get ready to try new things.
C. To find out a method to stop the shouting match.
D. To know what the real problem is and help find solutions.
40. If a conflict happens, according to the passage, what is the right order to deal with it?
①The students choose not to say"it’s just you who is really foolish".
②The students try to listen and then put themselves in each others' shoes.
③The students ask themselves some questions like"what can I do to solve it".
④The students understand the fact that they can't avoid conflict in their daily life.
A.③①②④ B.④①②③ C.④②①③ D.①②③④
41. What is the writer's purpose for writing this article?
A. To complain about problems in school education.
B. To teach students different strategies for school life.

Understanding that everything has a life cycle makes it a lot easier to deal with endings that we all have to face, even our own mortality(生命的有限).Nothing lasts forever, and that fact is what drives us to live life to the fullest.
But what happens when something inside or outside of us comes to an end? Sometimes, the change is internal. You may become stressed or sleepless. If you realize that this is happening, it’s important to get help. Other changes may be external(外在的). For example, you could be fired from your job. In that case, you needn’t worry if you’ve saved some money or have another way of making money.
Our parents’ jobs lasted until retirement(退休). Now, you can expect to have perhaps several jobs in your lifetime. Many more people are becoming entrepreneurs(创业者)with internet-based businesses, giving themselves support as well as a safety net if they lose their day jobs. You may wonder why you need a backup plan(备份计划). Just look at the life cycles of what has driven the economy, and you’ll see every decade, it’s something different. What you are doing now may not exist(存在)in ten years, so how can you best protect yourself? It’s something to think about and to also consider on an emotional basis.
I am a writer and licensed psychotherapist(精神治疗医师). These identities(身份)are important to my sense of being, and if either were to end, it would be very hard. I’ll probably continue seeing customers and writing for as long as I can, but maybe it will be in ways I haven’t thought of before. For example, I am doing much more therapy online than I ever thought possible. I didn’t think it could be effective, but after using it in a couple of emergency situations, it worked so well that I continued the practice. And the fact that customers can reach me or their medical doctors more easily in an emergency is very comforting for everyone.
All in all, it is that kind of interaction(互动)that we need the most. Even though the world is forever, changing, interaction keeps us together mentally and emotionally. Let’s make sure that continues.
42. What is the second paragraph mainly about?
A. How to live our lives to the fullest.
B. What can cause changes inside and outside of us.
C. Examples of dealing with the ending of life cycles.
D. The differences between internal and external changes.
43. The writer thinks it is necessary to have a backup plan because________.
A. it can help you to start your own business
B. it allows you to find the job most suitable for you
C. it is a popular practice in the internet-based society
D. it is a way to survive in a society that is always changing
44. The writer’s career experience proves that________.
A. traditional ways of working have changed
B. we should stay calm no matter what happens
C. doing therapy online is not of use to patients
D. you’ll be richer if you have another way of living
45. What is the writer’s purpose in writing the article?
A. To share his interesting career experience.
B. To explain how it get used to changes in life.
C. To encourage people to interact more with each other.
D. To compare two types of changes that could happen to us.

Want to be happier today? Well, you can do something about it. Some psychologists believe that 10% of your happiness is due to life circumstances and 40% is the result of your own choices and attitudes. Your own choices include how you deal with your time at school, your relationships, your friends, your activities, and your health and fitness. So you have a lot of control over how happy you feel. Here are some tips on how to do that.
Surround yourself with positive people
Spend time with negative people and your attitude will become more negative. On the other hand, good friends will encourage, and lift you up when you're down. They see the best in you, and that helps you see the best in yourself. You can't choose your family, but you can choose your friends. Choose people who make your life better and happier.
Don't try to be perfect
Your schoolwork doesn't have to be perfect before you can be happy. Your relationship with your parents doesn't have to be perfect before you can be happy. Your friends, your home, your clothes. . . nothing has to be perfect. Remember that nothing can be perfect. If you aim for perfection all the time, you will never be satisfied or happy. Instead consider what you already have and what you’ve already done. Don't try to be perfect, just try to do things well - with excellence.
_________78___________
Someone will always be smarter, or better looking or more successful than you. Someone will always have more than you. Rather, look at what you have got and who you are, and accept that. Work toward being a better yourself than you were last month or last year. This way you will be pleased with the progress that you are making.
Help other people
"It's better to give than to receive. "And this has been proved to be true. Helping others makes you feel happy with yourself, and also reminds you of what you do have. It can remind you to be thankful for what you have. You can't make other people help you. But you can choose to help other people. That means you can control how happy you are, since giving always makes you feel happier.
请将答案写在答题卡上。
76. Why should you surround yourself with positive people?
77. What can we do to avoid trying to be perfect all the time?
78. What do you think is the best title to fill in the blank?
79. Who is the passage probably written for?
80. What else do you often do to make yourself happier?
