    2.T use the vcabulary and sentences related t natural disasters.
    【教学过程】
    Step 1 Befre-reading
    1.Different kinds f bad weather cnditins and natural disasters.
    Ask students t tell the name ne by ne.
    2.Tell students that an earthquake is a natural disaster that can cause great damage r lss f life. Ask if they knw what will happen when an earthquake takes place.
    Elicit any infrmatin abut an earthquake they knw.
    3.Shw pictures abut an earthquake and present sme new wrds abut it, e.g. shaking, bmb, fear, scream, directin, wildly. Then ask students t read the new wrds tgether.
    4.Talk t students abut the cntext f Timmy’s stry. Elicit any infrmatin abut the Taiwan earthquake in 1999 frm students. E.g. The earthquake tk place n 21st September 1999. Mre than 2,300 peple died and abut 12,000 buildings fell dwn. It’s believed t be the strngest earthquake t have hit Taiwan last century.
    Step 2 While-reading
    Tell students that Timmy is a lucky by. He survived the earthquake and wrte a stry abut it. Ask them t read thrugh Timmy’s stry silently and try t answer the tw questins.
    N.1: What was Timmy ding when the earthquake started?
    N.2: Did Timmy give up r try his best t survive when he was in danger during the earthquake?
    2.Discuss the tw questins with students t check understanding.
    3.Ask students t d Part B1 and help Sandy match the wrds n the left with the meanings n the right.
    4.Then ask students t read Para 1 and 2, and try t cmplete the table t find ut: when the earthquake came, what did Timmy feel/hear/see and d?
    5.Ask what happened t Timmy then? Tell them t read Para 3 and 4 t find the answer. Present: Timmy was trapped.Explain ‘be trapped’.
    6.Ask what Timmy did t save himself after he was trapped? He did five things t help himself. Ask students t read the rest part f the stry t find ut the answers.
    7.Tell students Timmy put sme pictures he draw abut the earthquake n his hme page. Ask students t cmplete Part B2 t put them int the crrect rder and write the captins in the blanks.
    8.Ask them t cmplete Part B3. Write a T if the sentence is true, write an F if it is false.
    Step 3 Pst-reading
    1.Present sme language pints: e.g. shaking, shake; try t d sth.; run in all directins; calm dwn; be in a great hurry t d sth.; in different ways.
    2.D a quiz t check understanding
    Step 4 Assignment
    1.Recite the new wrds.
    2.Recite the passage.
    3.Find ut useful wrds and phrases in Reading.
