教材分析

八年级学生对于英语有了一定的基础,而且本课是关于植物的重要性,学生对于植物并不陌生,本课是本单元第二课,学生对于植物话题已经简单提到过,所以,我安排在开始让学生用简单言语表达下植物的重要性,在以前有部分词组学生已经了解了,比如be made from ... ,turn ... into ... 

学情分析

Most students know plants. So it's not  hard for them to learn this lesson. But they should know more about the importance of plants.

教学目标

(一)Language goals: 1.①Master words and expressions :clean, basic, cool  pleasant, shade, fulfill, soil. It's pleasant to do...take energy...from...in a word.② Some important sentences: It's pleasant to walk in the forest. It’s nice and cool. Trees and other plants are important to people. Plants also make everything look beautiful.

2.To listen and understand the passage and To know more about plants. 3.To use the Simple Present Tense.

(二) Teaching procedures & ways：Ss能够通过师生说、生生说和自主听读体验交际式英语教学的一般过程,掌握英语说听的基本方法; (2)能够通过阅读练习,体验英语阅读的过程和方法; (3)能够仔细倾听老师和同学的发言,有语言表达和与同学交流的愿望。

(二)Moral goals: Try to know the importance of plants and protect our environment

重点难点

1.Teaching important points:

(1)Master new words about introducing the importance of plants :Some words and phrases.
Some difficult sentences:

Donuts don’t grow on trees!

Then we can sit under a tree in the shade.

Then the wind and water don’t carry the soil away.

(2)Use the Simple Present Tense.

(1).To Understand the text .( 2).telling the plant’s importance to others

Step1:Warm

up and lead in

1.Free talk. Greet the students in everyday English

2. Do the everyday duty report. A student on duty can say whatever he/she likes to say.

3.Lead in 

(1)Spring is coming. Trees turn green. Trees are plants. Do you want to know the importance of the plants?

Today let us go to the new lesson. Lesson 8Why are the plants important?

(2)Introduce the text to the class by the following questions:

Are there a lot of plants around us? Why ?

Are plants important to us?

What kind of things can plants do?

Maybe the students can say fewer things trees can do than the text says, maybe more.

Step2.

Presentation

1.Learn the new words and phrases by themselves make sure the Ss can read it correctly.引入词汇pleasant  shade  fulfill, basic, soil同时体现在情境中教学新单词.

2.Ask some students to read the words loudly.

3 Listening and reading by themselves by discussing(5 minutes)

①Listen to the text. And fill in the blanks about the passage.(ppt) Then check the answers together. （一个学生一个空）学生观看教学光盘中

②Play the tape again and have the class follow the tape while reading the text.

After listening, we know that we need trees, we need plants. But why do we need plants? Why are  plants  important? (3 more minutes for them to discuss in groups)

Trees help clean the air

Give us food, like apples

Make and build things with trees

 Sit under a tree in the shade

 Make books

 Stop the wind and water from carrying the soil away

3.Read again. and do exercise 1 in let's do it.

1. Practice reading the text together, and then try to find some language points by themselves first.

③Without food,they would have nothing to eat and they would die.

eg: The wind and water will carry the soil away if there are no plants.

Practice

1. Summarize: Have the students say something about the functions of plants in their own words by discussing in groups.

Step5.Sum up

1. Sum up the text what we learned, the  words, phrases, and sentences.

2.Draw a conclusion.: Plants are very important. We can’t live without plants.

Step6.

Homework

1. Finish off the exercises of lesson8  in Exercise Book.

2. Write  a short passage about the  importance  of  plants
