Ask some people and most of them will say yes. “Pay-for-knowledge” has been more and more fashionable these years. The contents of these “pay-for-knowledge” products are from language learning to gardening or baby-caring. Everything you think of can be found online at this moment. “Pay-for-knowledge” is on the rise(兴起).Why is “pay-for-knowledge” industry developing so rapidly? First, its development is based on the Internet. With a fast network and a smartphone, anyone who has passed the identity (身份) check can be an online teacher, and anyone with an online account (帐户) can buy “pay-for-knowledge” products. Second, people are afraid to miss any information. On one hand, people hope for more useful information. On the other hand, such information is usually at the hands of experts who serve famous companies and universities. Moreover, the need to learn new skills in today’s job market also pushes people to learn on such educational podcasts. The industry of “pay-for-knowledge” has proved to be lucrative. It promises possibilities of turning information into money. It is good for the development of our country and it can help sellers make lots of money. Besides, buyers can enjoy self-growth from it. What’s more, this is a reflection(反映)of respect for knowledge and talents. However, the rapid rise of “pay-for-knowledge” has a few problems. For one thing, the market is full of eye-catching words such as “How to be an Industry’s Expert in 5 Hours” and “15 Classes to Be a Master of Appreciating(欣赏) Classical Music”, which sound like if you pay for it, you are sure to succeed. For another, a large number of customers buy them just for showing off. In fact, those who have really had self-growth after buying online courses may be the kind of people who need them least. In other words, with or without these courses, they can make it anyway, because they are those who have the ability to learn by themselves. In general, the best is the one that suits you most. “Pay-for-knowledge” may be used as a good start for self-growth. Be careful! Otherwise, your dream of success may not come true.(   )1. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?A. “Pay-for-knowledge” products can help all the people succeed.B. “Pay-for-knowledge” products can offer people different kinds of courses.C. People who can teach themselves need “pay-for-knowledge” products most.D. People must learn from experts who serve famous companies and universities.(   )2. Which is NOT the reason for “pay-for-knowledge” industry developing so rapidly?A. The fast network and smartphone make it possible for people to get.B. People are afraid to miss any useful information.C. People need to learn new skills in today’s job market.D. People are forced to pay for educational podcasts or live videos.(   )3. What can we learn about “pay-for-knowledge” industry from Paragraph 2?A. The history of its rise. B. The problems of its products.C. The advantages of its products. D. The causes of its rise.(   )4. The underlined phrase “be lucrative” in Paragraph 3 means “________”.A. produce lots of money B. get much informationC. win great respect D. enjoy self-growth(   )5. But I didn’t know how much, so I decided to do this challenge to find out.
Every morning since I got a smartphone, I’ve used The Weather Channel App to find out what to wear. On the first morning I had to dress without guidance, but thankfully I was able to guess that the day would be cold and foggy by looking out of my window.
I couldn’t tell what time it was. I haven’t worn a watch for more than a year, because my phone showed the time. So I was late for picking up friends who had been on the bus for two hours. I was also late for my part-time job. And even worse , I couldn’t call people to tell them that I was running late.
Getting places was harder, too. I lost my way because I couldn’t use the GPS on my phone. My driving, though, got a lot safer because I no longer had my phone in one hand checking directions while driving with the other.
But the number one trouble was not having my contact list. I forgot to write down my friends’ and family members’ phone numbers before I started the challenge. It was sad to realize that I couldn’t remember my brother’s and my mom’s cell phone numbers. Oh, how I wished to turn on the phone for just a second to look up phone numbers!
Even with all the problems, however, I found peace not worrying about missing a text message or an e-mail.
This challenge was a great learning experience. It surprised me how I’d taken no notice of even the things like remembering phone numbers. We all should take some time to think about how we can depend less on our cell phones. An experience    1   smartphones    DisadvantagesHave difficulties in:              2   clothes to wear because it’s   3   to use The Weather Channel App.            knowing the time because there wasn’t a phone to show the  4  . This is, of course, a silly belief. But it is true that kung fu is a big part of Chinese culture.
Like most people from the West, I was first introduced to kung fu through Hong Kong action films. Stars like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan made kung fu popular in the Western world. The flashy (炫酷的) and impressive performances they gave in films like Rumble In The Bronx (Chan) and Enter The Dragon (Lee) made them household names in the US and elsewhere.
However, my own personal interest in kung fu was actually inspired by a hip-hop group. Wu-Tang Clan (“武当派”), founded in the early 1990s in New York City, is one of the most influential (有影响力的) hip-hop groups in history.
I myself do not practice kung fu. However, the concepts (哲学理念) behind it are quite interesting to me. There is a Bruce Lee quote that I often think of when I’m struggling with challenges in life. “Be formless … shapeless, like water,” he once said. By this, he meant that you should be ready to adapt (调整) and change your attitudes or beliefs when you face difficulties. I think this is a good way to deal with life. How were most Western people first introduced to kung fu?_____________________________________________________________________How many films are mentioned in this article?_____________________________________________________________________Who inspired my interest in kung fu?_____________________________________________________________________When does the writer often think of Bruce Lee?_____________________________________________________________________When was Wu-Tang Clan founded?_____________________________________________________________________七、首字母填空During the Warring States Period(475-221BC), there was a man called Yue Yangzi. Then I asked my English teacher for advice after school. Besides, the most important thing I must do every day was that I kept on reading loudly by following the tapes again and again until I was able to read them correctly. Finally, I could answer more and more questions in English and I became very confident in speaking English. In a word, small things and hard work are very important to achieve the goal
