Lead-in
Play a vide abut describing the appearance and characteristics f the cartn character t lead in the tpic f this Unit. Ask students what their impressin is t Mmin, and tell students that in this class we will study sme wrds t describe peple’s persnalities.

The pictures are given first, and the teacher asks students t guess the Chinese meaning f the wrds. Then the teacher gives the English wrd t the students and asks them t read the new wrds by fllwing the teacher. There are eight wrds altgether in this part. When each wrds is learned, the sentence f “--What is he/she like? --He/She is ...” shuld be used t practice the new wrds in the Unit. “utging and shy”, “hard-wrking and lazy ” shuld be put tgether s as t make them easy t understand by students.
Eg: ---What is he like? Is he utging?
---He is nt utging, he is shy.
Step 2: Presentatin and check
Presentatin and reviewing
Put the pictures f the eight new wrds learned tgether and guide students t review these adjectives again. While reviewing the new wrds, the rder f the pictures will be arranged in a disrganizing way. The teacher pints at each picture and ask students with “---What is he/ she like? r ---What d yu think f him/ her? ” sentence. Students shuld answer the questin with “---He/ She is ...” sentence, and then repeat the adjectives and spell them.
Check(wrd game)
After the revisin, there will be a wrd game t check whether students have memrized these new wrds. There are nine chices frm A t I. Each letter cvers a picture that is related t what was learned just nw. The teacher asks a students first, and let the students chse a letter, and then lking at the picture he r she chse t ask “What is he/ she like?”. The students answers the questin, spells the wrd and speaks ut the Chinese meaning f the wrd. And then, the student chse anther student t check anther wrd by the way he has with the teacher. The fllwing steps are all the same until all f the nine wrds are finished.
Step 3: Sentence study and practice
After learning the new wrds, there are three sentences that need making a difference:
1. What is he like?(What d yu think f him?)
2. What des he lk like?
3. What des he like?
First f all, we shuld pay attentin t the wrd “like”. In the three sentences, “like” has different parts f speech and meanings. In sentence 1 and sentence 2, it is a prepsitin, which means “像” in Chinese. Yet in sentence 3, it is a verb and means “喜欢”. Then, the majr fcus shuld be n the meaning and usage f the three sentences. Fr the first sentence, it asks abut a persn’s persnality. The secnd ne is abut a persn’s appearance and the last ne is abut ne’s hbby. Students shuld have a clear idea abut the usage f the three sentences and then use them t have a practice n describing thers.
Task One English practice: lk at the fllwing pictures and describe(描述) them in English (grup discussin)
By learning the abve sentences, students are given fur pictures famus peple and characters that students are familiar with and ask students t describe them. Students are asked t have a discussin in six grups. Fr the grup that behaves well, the ther students shuld applause fr them. There are fur characters fr students t talk abut: Mnkey King, The Snw Queen(Elsa), Ya Ming andYuan Lngping. The teacher shuld take the picture f Mnkey King as an example, and use the abve three sentences t guide students t describe the ther characters.
Task Tw English Practice:T describe smene in ur class
The teacher will give students sme useful expressins and ask them t use these sentences and expressins t describe smene they are familiar with in their class.

Students shuld have a grup discussin abut wh they want t describe. There are six grups, and each grup shuld chse a student t describe the ne they discussed. The students can nt speak ut the name f the ne he/she described, and ask the ther student t guess wh he r she is.

By the playing f the vide, students can have a general idea abut hw t describe a character.

Except fr the wrds learning, the teacher shuld try t let students make sentences and have sme dialgues with their grup members, s as t deepen their understanding t the new wrds.
When the students have a discussin, the teacher shuld pay attentin t what they are talking abut and give them sme help if they are in need.
In this stage, students shuld be mre active and try their best t speak English. By this way, the teacher can encurage students t express their thughts in English.
