The winners of one of the greatest prizes in the world--the Nobel Prize-- were known last October.

These developments lead scientists to believe that there could be a sixth mass extinction(大灭绝), the first to be caused by humans, according to the Guardian. There have bee five mass extinctions before, the last being 65 million years ago. That time it w as the dinosaurs that died out.
WWF has called on world governments and businesses to make a deal to protect people and nature. According to a report by China Daily in November, Chinese paddlefish in the Yangtze River, may have become extinct. And there are now less than 500 green peafowl(孔雀)in the wild, reported CCTV in June.
To protect endangered animals, China has stopped the use of rhino horn(犀牛角)and tiger bones, and ivory trade, reported China Daily. It also increases public attention by holding activities w hen celebrating the World Wild life Day.
But more efforts are sill needed to protect wild life in China and around the world. “We are the first generation to know w e are destroying our planet and the last one that can do anything about it, ” WWF UK Chief Executive Tanya Steele told CNN.
