    When COVID-19 cases were on the rise in Sao Paulo, Brazil, many of the city’s residents decided to take action. Notably, high school student Gabriel Aun Klinger organized a project to help people from favelas(贫民窟)defend themselves against the virus.
    Favelas are highly-populated communities where many people live in extreme poverty. There, many residents struggle to feed themselves and have to live in terrible conditions. “Some people from these communities can’t even afford to buy a soap bar,” said Klinger.
    After reading several documents and scientific papers on COVID-19, Klinger found an effective solution against COVID-19 — something he described as being the “perfect weapon of self-defense against the virus”. When he realized that this solution was also much cheaper and easier to obtain, he immediately started his project aiming to use it for the benefit of the people in favelas.
    “So far, the center of the project has been to share the information I had regarding a home-made solution for fighting the virus with people,” he explained.
    In March, his campaign raised enough money to buy hygiene(卫生)products and food items for over 500 families in those communities. He then gave out these products to the community, making sure to leach those people how to prepare the solution with the items that they received.

    From December 1936 to March 1937, three archaeological(考古学的)diggings were earned out in the suburbs of Hangzhou, where loads of black ceramics and stoneware were brought to light.
    Inspired by these relies(遗迹), an archaeology lover named Shi Xingeng, who came from West Lake Museum in Hangzhou, wrote several detailed reports on the diggings. However, he had to put his work aside when China started to fall into Japan's military aggression. He joined the resistance movement against Japanese invasion and died of disease in 1939. It represented an earlier civilization between 3,300 and 2,200 B.C that had remained unknown to historians. It is commonly believed that the earliest known Chinese written language dates back to more than 3.000 years ago, when oracle bone script(甲骨文)appeared in Shang Dynasty. But Liangzhu Culture might provide evidence of a written language that appeared in China at least 1,000 years earlier.
    In 2007, Liangzhu Ancient City was reported to be discovered in Hangzhou, where archaeological diggings revealed a large and early walled city in Chinese history. There were man-made hills and streams in the city area, which were very likely part of the early designed urban landscape. To protect the urban space which was formed by waterways and entrances both inside and outside the city, a flood control system was connected to the river networks and 11 dams.     When it comes to sharks, many people think of their pointy fins(鱼鳍)and cruel nature. But there is more to sharks than their sharp teeth: The creature appeared on earth 410 million years ago, earlier than dinosaurs.
    However, sharks are now at the edge of extinction. Numbers of oceanic sharks have declined by an alarming 71 percent over the past 50 years, according to a research published in Nature on Jan 27. “Such sleep declines are shocking even to experts, especially when compared to land animal statistics,” said Sonja Fordham at Shark Advocates International. This alarming data may be an underestimate of reality due to unreported fish catches, Nathan Pacoureau, the study researcher, noted.
    The study analyzed 31 species; 24 now risk extinction, and three shark species are now classified as critically endangered, including the oceanic whitetip shark and great hammerhead. The study found the decline hit the largest species first before impacting smaller ones over time, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). It also revealed shark finning and fishing worldwide have driven the decline. “The Indian Ocean is the worst. There is almost no fisheries management at all,” said Pacoureau.
    “Overfishing of sharks endangers the health of entire ocean ecosystems as well as food safety for some countries,” said Nicholas Dulvy, professor from Canada. The researchers are calling on immediate action to make a brighter future for these “extraordinary, irreplaceable animals”, according to the BBC.
    Although the situation looks disappointing, the future of sharks is still promising. Twenty-five species have returned to normal, due to long-term conservation campaigns in the past decades. A couple of shark species, including the great white, have started to recuperate through science-based fishing limits, Fordham said.
    These examples “provide living proof that the world can set, and meet, ambitious biodiversity targets”, Jane Smart, global director of IUCN, said in a statement.

The Qingming Festival is an exception. Because most Chinese will go back to their hometowns and commemorate their ancestors. When the 24 solar terms were originally created, the Qingming Festival was known as the best time for going outside—the sky is clear and the weather warms up. People can fly kites and see the flowers. Other than that, tomb sweeping is also a tradition that is handed down from generation to generation. Why do I have to bring up the Qingming Festival? Because the Qingming Festival is the only national festival that is named after a solar term.
