第一节阅读下列短文或图表,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)
A
When I was walking back home at around 12:15 pm during my lunch break one day, an apple core (果核) comes flying toward me. It landed just before my feet. Surprised, I thought myself fortunate not to get hit by it.
The apple was thrown over the fence by a school student. I live opposite a school. A wall separates my apartment building from the school.
Thinking it was a one-off experience, I told my friends, and we laughed about it.
Then, the week after, I was walking along exactly the same spot at exactly the same time and bam! Another apple came over. This time it landed on the roof of a shed (棚屋). I thought to myself: “Is it my destiny (命运) to get hit by an apple?”
Last week I was walking back home. I checked my phone. It was 12:15 pm. My mind wandered to those two times before when I’d seen an apple thrown over the wall. But suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted (打断) by ANOTHER flying apple! This one was a big one. Only one bite (咬) had been taken out of it, and it was thrown with speed.
Another dangerous but “lucky” experience! Someone could be really hurt by these apples. Enough was enough. Did the student(s) not realize that people live across the wall? Or do they not care?
I told my friend about it. “You should just throw the apple back over the wall. That will teach them,” my friend suggested. But I don’t want to play that “game”. As they say, an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. Besides, I might end up hurting someone when I throw it back.
Maybe I’ll call the school and let them know. The student(s) responsible need to know that they might end up hurting someone if they keep throwing their waste. What’s more, waste belongs in the bin (垃圾箱), not anywhere else.
11. How did the author (作者) feel after she saw the first thrown apple core?
A. Excited. B. Lucky. C. Doubtful. D. Touched.
12. How many times did the author see an apple thrown over the wall?
A. Once. B. Twice. C. Three times. D. Four times.
13. From the underlined sentence, we can learn that ________.
A. the author was hit in the eye by the last thrown apple
B. the author will set up a camera on the wall
C. the author will not react (反应) by doing the same bad thing
D. the author will throw the apple back next time
14. What can we infer (推断) from the story?
A. The students could see when the author was walking by.
B. The apples were thrown by the same student.
C. Somebody was once hurt by thrown waste there.
D. The school may find out about the problem and set new rules.

During the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, athletes (运动员) from all over the world broke both personal and Olympic records. High-tech elements have been giving “wings” to these hard-working athletes, helping them become “faster, higher, stronger”.
The National Speed Skating Oval (国家速滑馆) (the Ice Ribbon) saw 12 new Olympic records and one world record, including Chinese speed skater Gao Tingyu’s Olympic record of 34.32 seconds in the men’s 500 meters.
Known as “the fastest ice”, the 12,000-square-meter rink (冰场) has received very good feedback from the athletes. “It makes everyone skate faster,” Gao Tingyu said after he bagged the gold.
The secret behind is a new carbon dioxide (一氧化碳) ice-making technology. Speed-skating requires a very flat (平滑的) ice surface. If the ice surface temperature doesn’t change much, the ice stays flatter. Flat ice is easier to skate on.Liguid (液态的) carbon dioxide was put under the ice for the first time. It cooled the ice and kept the temperature changes on the surface within just half of one degree.
In events like freestyle skiing and ski jumping, the direction and speed of the wind could largely affect athletes’ performance. A research team from the Chinese Academy of Sciences developed a wind measuring (测量) system using AI technology. “Some events only last a few seconds, and the wind is changing all the time. This system allows athletes and coaches to ‘see’ wind directly through real-time data (数据) on their pads, and decide when and where to jump,” the team leader Shao Yun told Beijing Daily.
There are many more high-tech elements that boost athletic performance, including drag-reducing (减少阻力的) sportswear, smart beds that massage (按摩) athletes, and robots that cook. All these helped keep China’s promise to hold an “athlete-centered” Olympics, said Zhao Weidong, the spokesperson of the Beijing organizing committee.
22. Gao Tianyu set a record for ________.
A. winning the first gold for China in men’s 500 meters
B. skating the fastest speed in men’s 500 meters
C. being the youngest skater at the Olympics
D. designing the National Speed Skating Oval
23. Liquid carbon dioxide was put under the ice to ________.
A. keep the ice cold B. make the ice harder
C. save water resources D. change the temperature of the ice
24. The system from the Chinese Academy of Sciences helps athletes ________.
A. change the direction of the wind B. record their jumps in real time
C. measure wind more accuately D. reduce off-site (场外的) influence factors
25. What do we know from the words of Zhao Weidong?
A. China is expected to hold another Winter Olympics soon.
B Other countries look at China with new eyes.
C. The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics were the best ever.
D. The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics were people-centered.
