Unit 9　What does he look like?第一课时　Section A(1a～2d)1.Key words and phrases：curly,straight,tall,medium,height,thin,heavy,tonight,little,may,cinema,glasses,later,(be) of medium height,a little 2.Key sentences：(1)—What does he/she look like?—He/She is tall and has long hair.(2)—What does your friend look like?—She's of medium height,and she has long straight hair.3.Skills：(1)学完本课,学会描述人物外貌。(2)能积极思维,运用所学单词、短语及句型,结合实际生活进行灵活运用。4.Emotion：让学生学会友好地描述别人的形象。5.The guidance of learning methods 【学法指导】让学生围绕着课堂任务在小组中分工合作,在活动中相互探讨、相互交流、相互合作。6.Learning important and difficult points【学习重难点】(1)掌握本课新单词和句型以及熟练掌握描述人物外貌的方法。(2)熟练掌握描述人物外貌的方法并成功地根据人物特征推理出某一人物。(一)自主学习1.根据单元标题和图片等,预测新课内容。2.根据音标拼读新单词并牢记。3.自学课文,勾画出重点和疑难点。【效果自测】Ⅰ.汉译英。1.长发long__hair　　  2.短发short__hair3.直发straight__hair    4.卷发curly__hair5.高的tall  6.矮的short7.重的heavy  8.瘦的thin9.中等个子medium__heightⅡ.完成书中第49页1a的练习。(二)课堂导学Step 1　情景导入Teacher：Today we are going to learn Unit 9 “What does he look like？”.Now look at me,please.What do I look like？I'm of medium height(not tall or short) and I'm of medium build(not heavy or thin).I have short,straight black hair.Can you describe your appearance？Look at the words on the board and read after me：“tall,short,heavy,thin,straight,curly,medium build,medium height.”Now practice in pairs to describe your own looks to your deskmate.Model：S1：I am a girl.I love myself very much.I think I'm very beautiful.I'm tall and thin.I have long straight black hair.I have two big eyes,a small nose and a small mouth.环节说明：通过描述自己或他人的外貌特点导入话题,既调动课堂气氛,增进师生交流,又自然引入本课课题。激发学生说英语的热情,呈现本课时描述人物外貌特征的单词、词组与句型。Step 2　完成教材1a～1c的任务1.认真观察1a图片中的人物,完成1a的任务。(1分钟)Teacher：Look at the picture on Page 49 in your book.What can you see in the picture？Yes,there are many people in the subway.What do they look like？Please talk about their appearances in pairs.Teacher：Now please match the words with the people in the picture.Write each letter next to a numbered word.You can use some letters more than once.2.认真听录音,完成1b的任务。(2分钟)Teacher：Now let's listen to a conversation between Amy and her friend.Who do they look for？Look at the picture and find which/who the boy Amy is talking about.Please listen carefully and fill in the blanks in the picture above.3.大声朗读并背诵1b中的小对话,结对练习1b中的三个小对话,最熟练的一组要到讲台上展示。(3分钟)4.仿照1b中的小对话,由老师描述图片中的某个人物,让学生猜猜老师所描述的人物是谁。然后让同学们自己编写并表演对话,完成1c的任务。(3分钟)Teacher：Now practice the conversation in 1c.And then make your own conversations.One of the people in 1a is your friend.Describe your friend.Your partner will find him or her.Sample conversations：A：What does your friend look like?B：She is of medium height,and she has long straight hair.5.让几组学生表演对话,其他学生认真听,并做好记录；最后,老师可以就学生对话的内容进行现场提问。(这样可以让全体学生参与,表演对话的学生的口语表达能力得到了很好的锻炼,其余学生听力技巧也得到了很好的训练。)(5分钟)6.小结训练。(2分钟)看图,从方框中选择适当的词汇完成句子。long,heavy,short,curly,tall(1)Jenny's uncle is a little heavy.(2)Mrs.Green has curly hair.(3)Our Chinese teacher is very tall.(4)Kate Smith has long straight hair.(5)Eric's cousin has short hair.环节说明：通过学习1a,让学生熟悉并掌握一些常见的关于人的身材、发型、服饰的描述词；通过1b,锻炼学生的听力及抓取关键信息的能力；通过1c的训练锻炼学生的口头表达能力,同时巩固所学的语言知识。Step 3　完成教材2a～2d的任务1.认真听录音,回答2a中的问题。(3分钟)Teacher：Now,let's listen to the three conversations.The people in the conversations are talking about their friends.Listen to the conversations and answer the questions.2.再听一遍录音,完成2b中的表格。(2分钟)Teacher：Listen to the recording again.This time please write down the other description words about David,Sally and Peter.3.解释听力材料中的重点短语和句子,然后让学生大声朗读对话内容,并让多个小组上台展示。(2分钟)4.根据同学所描述的听力材料中的人物形象,画出他/她的外貌,完成2c的任务。(4分钟)Teacher：Now,work in pairs.One student looks at the chart in 2b,the other student asks him/her questions about one of the people and then draws a picture of the person.5.解释2d对话内容中的重点短语和句子,然后让学生分角色朗读对话内容,并让多个小组上台展示。(3分钟)6.小结训练。(2分钟)从方框中选择合适的选项补全对话。A：I hear(听说) you have a new friend.B：Yes.(1)BA：What does she look like?B：(2)AA：Is she tall?B：Yes.She's tall and thin.A：Does she often wear glasses?B：(3)DA：(4)C She often wears a yellow sweater and blue pants.B：(5)E She's Betty.A.She has long blonde curly hair.B.She's from America.C.I think I know her.D.Yes,she does.And she can speak a little Chinese.E.Yes,that's her.环节说明：通过进行听、说、读、写的训练,让学生掌握并灵活运用恰当的单词来描述人物的外貌特征。不仅锻炼了学生的语言综合运用能力,还巩固了学生对人的身材、发型、服饰等描述词的学习、识记和运用。(三)当堂评价方案(详见当堂训练部分)Teaching Reflection【教学反思】本课时是Unit 9第一课时。通过播放视频人物或用一些学生所熟知的明星照,导入新课,引出部分人物形象,这样可以激发学生的学习兴趣,了解人物的外貌特征,进一步通过高、低、胖、瘦不同的三个学生做对比,来引出问句“What does he look like？”来谈论不同人物的外貌特征,通过听、说、读、写综合运用,最后让学生笔头描述班内的同学或各课任教老师,然后通过做游戏的方式让全班同学猜,描述的是哪一位？这样就将课堂气氛推向高潮,达到了预期的目的。
