含义：表示在过去某个时间发生的动作或存在的状态。常和表示过去的时间状语（如：yesterday, the day befre yesterday, last Sunday/year, in 2009, just nw, a mment ag等）连用。
be动词的一般过去时表示过去存在的状态。在一般过去时中，所有的动词必须用过去式，除了be动词的过去式有人称和数的变化外，其余动词的过去式都没有人称和数的变化。
含有be动词的一般过去时的肯定句、否定句和疑问的句式变化如下：
1.肯定句结构：主语+was/were+其他.2.否定句结构：主语+was/were+nt+其他.
3.一般疑问句及其回答结构：Was/Were+主语+其他?肯定回答：Yes, 主语＋was / were. 否定回答：N, 主语＋wasn’t / weren’t.4.特殊疑问句及其回答结构：特殊疑问词+was/were+主语+其他?
