If we don't use body language properly, we may be misunderstood.Last year I had a holiday in Thailand. I was walking in the street when I saw a child fall down. I quickly ran over, helped him to his feet and patted his head. Surprisingly he seemed very angry and walked away. I had meant to comfort him in the way we Chinese usually do. Later, I got to know in Thailand patting a child's head is considered impolite.Obviously body language is an important part of intercultural communication.
