YouTube is another form of social media that allows passive watching or interaction. There are many channels on YouTube dedicated to a specific culture or some aspects of a culture. _________ Type into the YouTube search bar things such as "Learn about French culture" or "What do people in India commonly eat?". Many YouTube channels talk about subjects like news, history, or gender norms. A five-minute start    Five minutes is nothing—it's just three hundred seconds. It's the length of a song or a TV commercial. Pick up a project you've been putting off and spare just 300 seconds of your time to do it. _________ After a while, the momentum (动力) of beginning the task will push you forward.    2. Set goals and rewards    During the day, set goals and rewards. Each time you achieve a goal, you earn the reward: a short break, a funny YouTube video or something else. _________ Make sure you select a time to review your progress and adjust your targets accordingly.    3. Be good to yourself—me today versus me tomorrow    Sometimes, when you find yourself buried in work, you are upset with yourself for not having started earlier. I was there—witnessing accountability (责任)    _________ Consider going on a diet: Is there more pressure if you don't tell a soul, or if you announce it to all your friends, with strict rules to follow if you are invited to dinner? You could write a note to someone that you don't like. Give the note to a friend with strict instructions to mail the note if you do not achieve your goal. Among them 41 were told to "preload" with water, while 43 were told to control their water intake before eating. After 12 weeks, the participants instructed to "preload" with water lost 2. 87 pounds more than those in the control group on average. In addition, the participants preloading with water before each of their three main meals every day lost 9.48 pounds over the 12 weeks. _________      Dr Helen Parretti, a lecturer at the University of Birmingham, had this to say of the study: _________ Just drinking 500ml of water, three times a day, before your main meals may help reduce your weight... and this could be an easy way for weight loss. Such changes often leave us without a friend. _________ But for many of us the process is difficult and requires courage. Below are some helpful suggestions on how to make and keep friends.    Associate with others.    The first step to making friends is associating with other people. You can go to public places to meet new people. Besides, you will need to make yourself known by becoming an active member of such places.    Start a conversation.    Starting a conversation is the second most important step in making new friends. _________ You can always start the conversation. Being able to make small talk is a very useful skill in relating with other people.    _________    Choosing friends with common interests is important in building friendship as these interests would always bring you and your friends together. Hanging out(闲逛) will always be a pleasant experience.    Let it grow.    It is a good thing to stay in touch. For younger children, this may mean not touching jewellery or other valuable things. For grown children, respect may mean returning a borrowed tool in good condition and on time. Lack of respect for a parent's belongings is a violation of personal boundaries. __________ And never borrow things without asking first.    ● Punctuality.    __________  Therefore, always be on time. For teenagers, showing up on time means coming home by curfew(宵禁). Adult children should show up on time for family dinners or events, or to pick a parent up for a medical appointment. Call if you're going to be late because parents worry about children, no matter what their age is.   __________    Remembering birthdays, anniversaries and other special days is a sign that you honour your parents. Make plans to take them to lunch or dinner or bake a cake or cookies. Most parents don't expect expensive gifts, but a handmade gift is always appreciated. A phone call from a grown child who lives too far for a visit is a welcome sign of respect.    ●Be kind.    Kind words and affection are simple ways to show respect. Tell your parents you love them. Listen and allow your parents to speak without interruption. Show a sincere interest in what your parents have to say. Be patient with your parents and don't rush them.
