Li Hua and I were on our way back after fetching some boiled water from the boiler house yesterday. Suddenly a sound of explosion scared us. Li Hua’s thermos bottle burst and the boiled water caused severe injuries to his feet. The burn was so severe that the skin was red and swollen.
I managed to stay calm, quickly searching for what I had learnt from my first aid class. I carried him to the water tap nearby at once and put his feet under the cool running water until the pain lessened. Afterwards, I called a taxi and rushed him to the hospital where he received further treatment.
Only then was I aware what a difference a basic knowledge of first aid can make, especially in such a case.
