    Step 1 Free talk
    Have a free talk with the students .
    Talk abut “Can we eat in class ?”
    The talk may be like this :
    A : Can we eat in class ?
    B : N , we can’t . We can’t eat in class
    A : Can we run in the hallways ?
    B : N , we can’t . We can’t run in the hallways
    A : S , dn’t run in the hallways .
    A : Can we listen t music in the classrms r the hallways ?
    B : N , we can’t . We can’t listen t music in the classrms r the hallways .

    Shw Ss a picture f a wman teacher and sme pictures f Ss wh are breaking schl rules . Are they gd students ? What rules are these students breaking ?

    First let Ss guess what rule Peter / Amy / Mike is breaking ?

    Take ut an apple . Have a talk with the students like this :
    T : Can I eat an apple in class nw ?
    Ss : N , yu can’t .
    T : Can yu eat apples in class nw ? Ss : N , we can’t .
    Repeat it with a cigarette .
    Step 6 Practice
    Shw Ss sme pictures , then let Ss talk abut them with “Can yu / we …?”
    S1: Can we arrive late fr class ?
    S2: N , we can’t . We can’t arrive late fr class .
    Let the students practice in pairs . Try t act it ut in frnt f the class .
    Step 7 Listening
    Finish 2a and 2b. Check the activities Alex and Cindy talk abut .
    Listen again . Can Alex and Cindy d these activities ? T “can” r ”can’t”.
    Step 8 cmpetitin
    Have a cmpetitin between bys and girls , let them say as many schl rules as they can . Have a talk like this :
    T : There are many schl rules in ur schl . What rules are they ? Can yu name any f them ?
    S1:Dn’t eat in class .
    S2: We can’t fight .…
    Practiced in pairs like this : A : Can yu fight ?
    B : N , We cant . We can’t fight . A : S , dn’t fight .
