37 Questions about subject content are generally welcomed. Before asking questions about the course design, read the syllabus(教学大纲)and learning management system information to be sure the answer isn’t hiding in plain sight.
    D. Remember that online professors get a lot of emails.
    E. Below are some common do’s and don’ts for online learners.
    F. Everyone has taken a not-so-great class at one time or another.
    G. Ask questions, but make sure they are good, thoughtful questions.

And what about that other dinner-party killer: awkward silence? If you're faced with an awkward silence at a dinner party, the only thing that always gets everyone talking again is to give the host a compliment (赞扬). __40__.Just quickly turn around and say, “This cake is extremely delicious and you have to tell me all about it.”(2021·全国乙卷)
A.How do you know the host
B.The first step is to go exploring
C.If you ask the question “How did you get here?”
D.Be prepared to have awkward conversations with strangers
    E. Or turn the conversation into a topic where they have little to say
F.What about that person who has had too much to drink or won't stop talking
G.He or she is the person who is feeling the weight of that awkwardness the most
根据空前的“the only thing that always gets everyone talking again is to give the host a compliment (赞扬)”可知,解决办法是赞扬晚宴的主人,G项“He or she is the person who is feeling the weight of that awkwardness the most”(他或她是最能感受到这种尴尬的人)符合语境。G选项中的“He or she”指代the host,“awkwardness”同义复现也是解题提示。

_ 39 If you’ve been betrayed, you are the victim of your circumstance. But there’s a difference between being a victim and living with a “victim mentality”.
    A. Learn to really trust yourself.
    C. Stop regarding yourself as the victim.
    D. Remember that you can expect the best in return.

__38__. They're the little spots of color like throw pillows, mirrors and baskets that most of us use to add visual interest to our rooms. Less tiring than painting your walls and less expensive than buying a colorful sofa, small color choices bring with them the significant benefit of being easily changeable. (2020全国I卷)
A.While all of them are useful
    B.Whatever you're looking for
    C.If you're experimenting with a color
D.Small color choices are the ones we're most familiar with
E.It's not really a good idea to use too many small color pieces
F.So it pays to be sure, because you want to get it right the first time
G.Color choices in this range are a step up from the small ones in two major ways
They're the little spots of color和D选项Small color choice是同义词复现,所在段最后一句中的“small color choices”是D项“Small color choices”的原词复现。

例5:同义词复现 trust yourself= Having confidence in yourself
__36____ Having confidence in yourself will help you make better choices because you can see what the best outcome would be for your well-being. (2015课标卷I)
    A. Learn to really trust yourself.
    B. It is putting confidence in someone.
    C. Stop regarding yourself as the victim.

例6:近义词复现 “new” clothes= clothes in good condition
Invite 5—10 people so you have a nice selection. Less people than that, and there may not be enough things to choose from; more than that, and it becomes uncontrollable.
__38__.They should also prepare plenty of reusable bags to carry their “new” clothes home.
    A.Less people than that
    B.Hold a clothing swap
    C.If two people are competing
    D.Just keep music playing throughout
E.Donate whatever clothes are left over
F.Have everyone put their clothes in the right spots
G.Tell everyone to bring clean clothes in good condition
本段空白后“They should also prepare plenty of reusable bags to carry their ‘new’ clothes home.” 其中的“clothes”原词复现是解题提示,同时“new”表明衣服应该是好的,对应G选项中的“clean”“in good condition”。

    例7:同义词复现 probability=chances和one in three
If there are three lines in the store, delays will happen randomly at different registers. Think about the probability:__33__ So it's not just in your mind:Another line probably is moving faster.
A.Why does this always seem to happen to you?
B.So why don't most places encourage serpentine lines?
C.Some of them may have stood in a queue for almost an hour.
D.The chances of your line being the fastest are only one in three.
E.How high is the probability that you are in the fastest waiting line?
F.With three registers, this method is much faster than the traditional approach.
G.But sometimes,as on a Sunday afternoon, the system gets particularly busy.
空前的probability与D项中的chances和one in three呼应,同时D项与空后一句“So it's not just in your mind:Another line probably is moving faster”呼应,符合语境。

    例8:反义词复现 more than=less than
A successful swap depends on the selection of clothes, the organization of the event, and, obviously, how much fun is had. It's really easy to do! Here are a few pointers.
·Invite 5 — 10 people so you have a nice selection. __37__, and there may not be enough things to choose from; more than that, and it becomes uncontrollable. (2021·
    A.Less people than that
    B.Hold a clothing swap
    C.If two people are competing
    D.Just keep music playing throughout
E.Donate whatever clothes are left over
F.Have everyone put their clothes in the right spots
G.Tell everyone to bring clean clothes in good condition
解析:根据上文“Invite 5-10 people so you have a nice selection.”和下文“and there may not be enough things to choose from; more than that, and it becomes uncontrollable.” A项“Less people than that”和下文中“more than that”相对,符合语境。故选A项。

例9:同筹词复现 tent和had a popup camper with comfortable beds and an air conditioner
I was, nevertheless, talked into going on another funfilled holiday in the wilderness.__38__ Instead, we had a popup camper with comfortable beds and an air conditioner. My natureloving friends had remembered to bring all the necessities of life.
A.This time there was no tent.
B.Things are going to be improved.
C.The trip they took me on was a rough one.
D.I was to learn a lot about camping since then, however.
E.I must say that I have certainly come to enjoy camping.
F.After the trip, my family became quite interested in camping.
G.There was no shade as the trees were no more than 3 feet tall.

    例10:同筹词复现 cook和ingredients(配料),pancakes(薄煎饼)
Your children need to be deeply curious.  37  Ask kids, “What ingredients(配料) can we add to make these pancakes even better next time?”(2014新课标卷I)
    A. Encourage kids to cook with you.
    B. And we can’t forget science education.
    C. We can give kids chances to think about materials in new ways.

Music has long been considered to be an enjoyable pastime for many people. ____35____ The mental health benefits from music can't be argued. Music could also be helping you with many other health problems behind the scenes.
____36____However, for the same reason, music can be very beneficial if one is in pain. By distracting (分心) the mind from the pain, music, people say, can lower stress and anxiety levels. This, of course, can lead to less pain.
Many people enjoy relaxing music in the evening prior to going to bed. ____37____While the validity of the idea is still being assessed, the lowered stress can even be tied back to blood pressure. Similarly, according to researchers, listening to just 30 minutes of soft music every day may help with healthy blood sugar levels, through the lowering of stress and anxiety.
When it comes to heart health, there is speculation (推测) that it's not the style of music, but rather the tempo that makes it so good for your heart health. In one European study, participants listened to music as the researchers monitored their heart rates and blood pressure. ____38____ On the other hand, when the music slowed, the participants' stress and anxiety levels became lower and the effects on heart rates appeared to follow suit.
____39____But there is a whole range of other health issues that turning up the radio could be beneficial for, which is what makes music so valuable.
    A. This feeling can also result in many other health problems.
    B. Some experts say that music can be harmful if it is too loud.
    C. This idea is a little off-the-wall but still has scientific backing.
    D. They say it can play a big role in calming the brain enough to sleep.
    E. The implications of music on overall well-being are really impressive.
    F. It is also highly popular due to the individualized effects on stress and anxiety.
    G. Interestingly, the more cheerful the music was, the faster their heart rates were.
F 36. B 37. D 38. G 39. E
【35题详解】空格后说“The mental health benefits from music can't be argued”(音乐对心理健康的益处是毋庸置疑的),F选项It is also highly popular due to the individualized effects on stress and anxiety中的stress and anxiety照应了mental health benefits,因此F选项切合题意,故选F。
【36题详解】空格后说“However,for the same reason, music can be very beneficial if one is in pain”(然而,出于同样的原因,当一个人处于痛苦中时,音乐是非常有益的),However表转折,因此空格处为对音乐的负面评价,B选项Some experts say that music can be harmful if it is too loud中的harmful就是负面评价,因此B选项切合题意,故选B。
【37题详解】空格前说“Many people enjoy relaxing music in the evening prior to going to bed”(许多人喜欢在晚上睡觉前听些轻松的音乐),D选项They say it can play a big role in calming the brain enough to sleep中的sleep和going to bed相呼应,因此D选项切合题意,故选D。
【38题详解】空格前说“In one European study, participants listened to music as the researchers monitored their heart rates and blood pressure”(在欧洲的一项研究中,参与者听音乐,研究人员监测他们的心率和血压),G选项Interestingly, the more cheerful the music was,the faster their heart rates were中的heart rates和前面的heart rates相照应,因此G选项切合题意,故选G。
【39题详解】空格后说“But there is a whole range of other health issues that turning up the radio could be beneficial for, which is what makes music so valuable”(但是,开着收音机还可以对一系列其他的健康问题有益,这就是音乐如此有价值的原因),因此本段讲的是音乐对身体总的好处,E选项The implications of music on overall well-being are really impressive讲的是音乐对整体健康的影响是非常令人印象深刻的,因此E选项切合题意,故选E。

A recent research shows benefits to writing about a traumatic (创伤性的) experience or difficult situation in a manner that psychologists refer to as “expressive writing.” People who do this, recording their deepest thoughts and feelings, often show improved mental and physical health, says James Parker, PhD, a psychology professor at the University of Texas, Austin.
Expressive writing is a specific technique, and it’s different from writing in a journal. ____16____
Parker says that hundreds of studies over several decades have looked at the potential benefits of expressive writing and found that it can strengthen the immune system, including for people with illnesses such as cancer, PTSD and depression. ____17____ And it may even help reduce symptoms of depression and PTSD, and prevent colds and flu.
Expressive writing works because it allows you to make meaning out of a painful experience. Recognizing that something is bothering you is an important first step. ____18_原词复现___ And creating a narrative (叙述) gives you a sense of control.
What if you don’t consider yourself “a writer”? Don’t worry about spelling or grammar, and don’t share your writing with anyone. ____19____ The goal of the exercise is to find meaning in an unsettling event.
____20____ Expressive writing isn’t a magical panacea It shouldn’t be used as a replacement for other treatments. And people coping with a severe trauma or depression may not find it useful to do on their own, without therapy.
    A. But do dig deep into your thoughts and feelings.
    B. But there are a few warnings about “expressive writing.”
    C. Writing can increase someone’s acceptance of their experience.
    D. Research also found that it can improve mood, sleep, and memory.
    E. A journal is a record of experiences or reflections kept regularly for private use.
    F. Translating that experience into language forces you to organize your thoughts.
    G. The idea is to reflect honestly on a particular challenge, and to do it in short sessions.
G 17. D 18. F 19. A 20. B
【16题详解】根据前文“Expressive writing is a specific technique, and it’s different from writing in a journal.(表达性写作是一种特殊的技巧,它不同于写日记。)” G“The idea is to reflect honestly on a particular challenge, and to do it in short sessions.(这个想法是诚实地思考一个特殊的挑战,并在短时间内完成。)”
【17题详解】根据前文“Parker says that hundreds of studies over several decades have looked at the potential benefits of expressive writing and found that it can strengthen the immune system, including for people with illnesses such as cancer, PTSD and depression.(帕克说,几十年来的数百项研究关注了表达性写作的潜在好处,发现它可以增强免疫系统,包括癌症、创伤后应激障碍和抑郁症患者。)”以及后文“And it may even help reduce symptoms of depression and PTSD, and prevent colds and flu.(它甚至可以帮助减少抑郁和创伤后应激障碍的症状,并预防感冒和流感。)” D“Research also found that it can improve mood, sleep, and memory.(研究还发现,它可以改善情绪、睡眠和记忆力。)”
【18题详解】根据前文“Expressive writing works because it allows you to make meaning out of a painful experience.(表达性写作之所以有效,是因为它能让你从痛苦的经历中获得意义。)” 且前文“Recognizing that something is bothering you is an important first step.(认识到有什么东西在困扰着你是重要的第一步。)” F“Translating that experience into language forces you to organize your thoughts.(把这种经历翻译成语言会迫使你组织自己的思想。)”为第二步“组织语言”,且“that experience”与前文的“that something”以及首句的“a painful experience”相呼应。故选F项。
【19题详解】根据前文“Don’t worry about spelling or grammar, and don’t share your writing with anyone.(不要担心拼写或语法,也不要与任何人分享你的写作。)” A“But do dig deep into your thoughts and feelings.(但是一定要深入挖掘你的想法和感受。)” 故选A项。
根据后文“Expressive writing isn’t a magical panacea. It shouldn’t be used as a replacement for other treatments.(表达性写作不是神奇的灵丹妙药。 B“But there are a few warnings about ‘expressive writing.’(但是有一些关于“表达性写作”的警告。)”

Do you love food? Whether you’re a foodie or someone who just likes eating, there is so much to choose from. We know that too much of the wrong kind of food can be bad for our health, but for some people having a food allergy means that eating certain things can actually be harmful. Such cases may seem uncommon. ___16___
An allergy is caused by the immune (免疫的) system fighting substances in the
environment. ___17 近义词复现___ It means that people have to follow strict dietary restrictions, otherwise their lives may be put at risk. Allergy specialist Dr. Adam Fox says “if you look back over, say, 30 or 40 years… there are much more serious allergic problems around now than there were.”___18___ Last year a teenager died after suffering an allergic reaction from eating a piece of bread containing peanuts. This led to a call for better food-labeling laws.
Research has found that this problem is particularly affecting children. ___19___ Dr. Alexandra Santos from King’s College London says “food allergy now affects about 7% of children in the UK and 9% of those in Australia, for example. Across Europe, 2% of adults have food allergies.”
So what might be the cause? Dr. Santos says, the increase in allergies is not simply the effect of society becoming more aware of them and better at diagnosing them. ___20___ She adds that possible factors are pollution, dietary changes and less exposure to bacteria, which change how our immune systems respond. She points out that it’s very common for migrants who move to another country to develop food allergies in their new location.
    A. It seems to be more environmental.
    B. A food allergy can affect you at any age.
    C. Food allergies can cause life-threatening reactions.

    E. More and more of them are having allergic reactions to certain food.
    F. A lot of work is being done to try and find a cure, but that’s not easy.
    G. We often hear about people having allergies to dairy products or to nuts.
D 17. C 18. G 19. E 20. A

【17题详解】下文“It means that people have to follow strict dietary restrictions, otherwise their lives may be put at risk.(这意味着人们必须严格遵守饮食限制,否则他们的生命可能会处于危险之中。)”
【18题详解】下文“Last year a teenager died after suffering an allergic reaction from eating a piece of bread containing peanuts. We often hear about people having allergies to dairy products or to nuts.(我们经常听说有人对乳制品或坚果过敏。)
【19题详解】下文“ Dr. Alexandra Santos from King’s College London says “food allergy now affects about 7% of children in the UK and 9% of those in Australia, for example. More and more of them are having allergic reactions to certain food.(越来越多的人对某些食物有过敏反应。)
【20题详解】下文“She adds that possible factors are pollution, dietary changes and less exposure to bacteria, which change how our immune systems respond.(她补充说,可能的因素是污染、饮食变化和较少接触细菌,这些都会改变我们的免疫系统的反应。)” A选项It seems to be more environmental.(它似乎更多的是与环境有关。) 故选A项。

切题,G选项也符合上文“It’s a cruel fact of life, as we age, gravity takes over.

Once you’ve reached your destination you can use the hand brakes to gently slow down, and there’s even a handy seat with a storage compartment. Plus the Perfect Walker includes Stand Assist handles which make standing from a sitting position simple and easy.

Decision making is the process of making choices by identifying a decision, gathering information, and assessing alternative resolutions. Using a step-by-step decision-making process can help you make more deliberate, thoughtful decisions by organizing relevant information and defining alternatives. 36___________
    Step 1. Identify the decision
You realize that you need to make a decision. 37. ___________ This first step is very important. As the saying goes, "well begun is half done". You can view situations more objectively, make your ultimate goal clear and then make up your mind.
    Step 2. Gather relevant information

Some information is internal. 38. ______________ Other information is external. You'll find it online, in books, from other people, and from other sources.
    Step 3. Identify the alternatives
As you collect information, you will probably identify several possible paths of action, or alternatives. You can also use your imagination and additional information to construct new alternatives. 39________________
    Step 4. 40 _________________
Draw on your information and emotions to imagine what it would be like if you carried out each of the alternatives to the end. Evaluate whether your need would be met or resolved through the use of each alternative. As you go through this difficult internal process, you'll begin to favor certain alternatives: those that seem to have a higher potential for reaching your goal. Finally, place the alternatives in a priority order, based upon your own value system.
    Step 5. Choose among alternatives
Once you have weighed all the evidence, you are ready to select the alternative that seems to be the best one for you. You may even choose a combination of alternatives.

    B. Weigh the evidence

Oscar Wilde once said, “Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.” Art provides a way to communicate experiences when people lack verbal skills. _____16_____Art therapy is founded on the assumption that everyone is creative and capable of self-expression.
___17___ As a restorative practice, it allows people to express themselves in non-verbal ways, such as drawing and painting. Even a 45-minute creative activity can change a person's mental state. Working with an art therapist does even more: _____18_____
Young children typically draw and sing and dance without worrying about their abilities. Adults, however, often have complex feelings about art and art making. They begin to evaluate the quality of their art instead of focusing on self-expression itself. ____19____ However, art therapists can guide people in expressing themselves without concerning whether their artwork is technically brilliant, so that they can connect or reconnect with the artworks that help them deal with life challenges.
What are art therapists’ superpower? They can channel dangerous thoughts into imaginative artworks. For instance, people with violent tendencies might let out their anger by hitting another human being. ____20____ These artistic choices satisfy the brain's desire for novelty without compromising personal safety.
    A Art therapy is a double-edged sword.
    B. Thus, the many benefits of creative self-expression are lost.
    C. They develop art as an expressive skill for solving problems.

    E. Art therapy, in its own ways, can influence a range of human functioning.
    F. It can significantly enhance positive moods and boost measures of well-being.
    G. However with art therapists’ help, their energy could be changed into creative products.
C 17. E 18. F 19. B 20. G
【16题详解】根据上文“Oscar Wilde once said, “Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.” Art provides a way to communicate experiences when people lack verbal skills.(王尔德曾经说过:“当人以自己的身份说话时,就越不是他自己。
【17题详解】根据后文“As a restorative practice, it allows people to express themselves in non-verbal ways, such as drawing and painting. Even a 45-minute creative activity can change a person's mental state.(作为一种恢复性练习,它允许人们用非语言的方式表达自己,比如绘画。

【19题详解】根据上文“Young children typically draw and sing and dance without worrying about their abilities. Adults, however, often have complex feelings about art and art making. They begin to evaluate the quality of their art instead of focusing on self-expression itself.(小孩子通常会画画、唱歌、跳舞,并不担心他们的能力。
【20题详解】根据上文“What are art therapists’ superpower? They can channel dangerous thoughts into imaginative artworks. For instance, people with violent tendencies might let out their anger by hitting another human being.(艺术治疗师的超能力是什么?

【36题详解】由下文“We dread taking a fall, so we find ourselves walking less and less and that only makes matters worse. 切题,G选项也符合上文“It’s a cruel fact of life, as we age, gravity takes over.

【16题详解】根据前文“From a social standpoint, sports are a powerful tool that brings people together and creates a sense of community.
【17题详解】根据前文“I learned that I am not always going to get the results that I want, but no matter what, I have to persevere and not give up.”(我明白了,我并不总是能得到我想要的结果,但无论如何,我必须坚持,不放弃。)
【18题详解】根据前文“In addition to that, exercising is a great way to get out of the stressful college life that is all about homework, presentations, and group projects.”(除此之外,锻炼是摆脱紧张的大学生活的一个很好的方式,大学生活充满了家庭作业、演讲和小组项目。)
【19题详解】根据前文“The reason most students do not play sports is because they feel lazy about it and don't have the energy for it.”(大多数学生不做运动的原因是因为他们对运动感到懒惰,没有精力做运动。)可知,选项G中的“the belief that the intense exercise will leave you exhausted is wrong”(认为剧烈运动会让你精疲力竭的想法是错误的)和前文构成转折关系,对应转折词however。

When people read on a screen, they don't understand what they've read as well as when they read in print. Why? 36 ._____________
If a blueberry rolls under the refrigerator, you might straighten out a coat hanger and use it to reach under the fridge and pull out the fruit. You've taken a tool made for one thing and adapted it for something new. 37_________ When we read online, the brain creates a different set of connections between cells from the ones it uses for reading in print. As a result, the brain might change into skim mode when you are reading on a screen, and it may switch to deep reading mode when you turn to print.
38 ______________ One way mindset works is in assuming how easy or hard we expect the reading to be. If we think it will be easy, we might not put in much efforts. Much of what we read on a screen tends to be text messages and social media posts. 39___________ so when people read on a screen, they read faster. But when reading is fast, we may not absorb all the ideas as well as when we read in print. That fast reading can become a habit associated with reading on a screen.
Imagine that you turn on your phone to read an assignment for school. 40______________, which is not helpful if you're trying to understand the themes in that classic book To Kill a Mockingbird.
    A. They're usually easy to understand
    B. Your brain might fire up the skim mode
    C. Your eyes don't just focus on the words
    D. That's what the brain does when you read
    E. It also depends on what you assume about the text
    F. The following example may help explain the reason
    G. Speed isn't the only problem with reading on screens
    36-40 FDEAB

Self-improvement is a long and challenging process. Most people dream big and make a full list of personal goals. 36 . Here are four ways to set goals and achieve them in your life.
Educate yourself on your goal to be realistic. You should know what it is that you are looking to pursue so that you have realistic expectations. You don’t want to invest time, energy or money into an unrealistic goal. Ask yourself; “What is motivating me?", and “What outside forces might prevent me from achieving my goal?" . 37
Break your goal into smaller, more manageable steps. It can be difficult to figure out how to get from point A to point B. 38 However your goal will become much more manageable when you break it into several smaller goals. The larger the goal, the more steps you will need to identify. Make the steps visible to you so you can more readily take them.
Share your goal with other people to give you a push. Sometimes it can be difficult to keep yourself motivated all the time. If your goal is difficult or you aren't seeing progress fast enough, it's normal to get frustrated. You can let your friends or colleagues know about your goal. 39 With their help, a difficult goal becomes much more attainable.
40 Gather more information to learn from others and better understand the context in which your goal lies. Take the opportunity to work with other people and maximize your chances of success. No good idea grows separately, If we want to see our idea become even better, why don't we invite others to build on top of it?
    A. Open yourself up to feedback.
    B. But they rarely ever attain all objective.
    C. Identify possible barriers you might encounter.
    D. They may naturally check in with you periodically.
    E. Where you ultimately want to be may be a long way off,
    E. Successful people ask better questions, and get better effects.
    G. Questions like these may help put you on a path that is right for you.

When Ken was in high school, he did well and had a strong sense of accomplishment. However, when he was in college, his grades were not so outstanding among academically gifted students much like himself, if not better. Often he feels depressed and is withdrawing from people and activities. 16
The literature generally has found that many of us tend to let our self-worth be contingent(依情况而定的)upon external events(such as academics and physical attractiveness). 17 As a result, our feelings about ourselves can end up being in the hands of others.
Obviously, we all want to experience things that make us feel good. But when we have contingent self-worth, we might engage in activities that make us feel worthy while avoiding activities that make us feel unworthy. 18
Instead of working hard to meet our goals, we’ll try to avoid failure. And if we do fail one day, we might abandon our goals, lose motivation, or make excuses to help ourselves feel better.
19 If our self-worth is contingent upon being successful at work, we might only choose jobs that are easy. That way we never fail and ensure that we always know that we are worthy. Or, maybe we only think we’re worthy if we weigh less than 130 pounds. We might undereat or engage in unhealthy eating practices just to make sure that we feel good.
Self-worth is an important psychological construct that affects not only how we think about ourselves but it also has an impact on our psychological health and functioning. So, give up the idea of seeking approval from others.
20 Doing so reminds us to be fully aware of who we are.
    A. That may pose potential dangers.
    B. Unfortunately, he is no exception.
    C. When our self-worth depends on those, it's unstable.
    D. Let’s cite some examples to further demonstrate that.
    E. Let’s dive into the cause to learn more about self-worth.
    F. Actually, he’s always been labeled as “other people’s child”.
    G. Instead, learn to base your self-worth on internal contingencies like virtues and faiths.
B 17. C 18. A 19. D 20. G
When Ken was in high school, he did well and had a strong sense of accomplishment. However, when he was in college, his grades were not so outstanding Often he feels depressed and is withdrawing from people and activities.
The literature generally has found that many of us tend to let our self-worth be contingent(依情况而定的)upon external events(such as academics and physical attractiveness). 17 As a result, our feelings about ourselves can end up being in the hands of others.
But when we have contingent self-worth, we might engage in activities that make us feel worthy while avoiding activities that make us feel unworthy. 18 Instead of working hard to meet our goals, we’ll try to avoid failure. And if we do fail one day, we might abandon our goals, lose motivation, or make excuses to help ourselves feel better.(当我们的自我价值是根据情况而变,那么我们就会参加那些让我们感到有价值的活动,而避免那些让我们感到没有价值的活动。 故选A项。
If our self-worth is contingent upon being successful at work, we might only choose jobs that are easy... Or, maybe we only think we’re worthy if we weigh less than 130 pounds. We might undereat or engage in unhealthy eating practices just to make sure that we feel good. Let’s cite some examples to further demonstrate that.(让我们引用几个例子来论证。)
So, give up the idea of seeking approval from others. 20 Doing so reminds us to be fully aware of who we are. Instead, learn to base your self-worth on internal contingencies like virtues and faiths.
