(1) To develop the students’ abilities of listening and speaking.(2) To train the students’ ability of working in pairs.四、教学过程I. RevisionTo draw the students’ attentions, help them revise the past continuous tense.Show some pictures, practise them using the past continuous tense.work in pairs, one asks, one answers. Talk about the picturesⅡ、Lead-inFor leading in the new lessons, After finishing the exercises of the past continuous tense . 1.Show students a picture and ask: Look at this picture, is it strange?Why do you think it’s strange?2. Then show the title of the lesson and lecture the new words as well. For letting the study and understand the words.Ⅲ、Pre-taskLet the students learn the new words , read them one by one.Ⅳ. While-reading 1. Skimming. Ask the students to read the passage quickly, and answer the questions. 2. Scanning. Read by themselves and listen to the tape to number the events in the order they happened. Check the answer with the partners.3. Intensive reading. Ask the students to read again. V.
