Rome can be pricey for travelers, which is why many choose to stay in a hostel (旅社). The hostels in Rome offer a bed in a dorm room for around $25 a night, and for that, you’ll often get to stay in a central location with security and comfort.
Yellow Hostel
If I had to make just one recommendation for where to stay in Rome, it would be Yellow Hostel. It’s one of the best-rated hostels in the city, and for good reason. It’s affordable, and it’s got a fun atmosphere without being too noisy. As an added bonus, it’s close to the main train station.
Hostel Alessandro Palace
If you love social hostels, this is the best hostel for you in Rome. Hostel Alessandro Palace is fun. Staff members hold plenty of bar events for guests like free shots, bar crawls and karaoke. There’s also an area on the rooftop for hanging out with other travelers during the summer.
Youth Station Hostel
If you’re looking for cleanliness and a modern hostel, look no further than Youth Station. It offers beautiful furnishings and beds. There are plenty of other benefits, too; it doesn’t charge city tax; it has both air conditioning and a heater for the rooms; it also has free Wi-Fi in every room.
Hotel and Hostel Des Artistes
Hotel and Hostel Des Artistes is located just a 10-minute walk from the central city station and it’s close to all of the city’s main attractions. The staff is friendly and helpful, providing you with a map of the city when you arrive, and offering advice if you require some. However, you need to pay 2 euros a day for Wi-Fi.

As I put down the exercise equipment, my brain tries to focus on what my trainer has said.
“Describe that to me,” asked Rob. He is looking for an answer that required me to connect my brain to my body.
Yes, I know. My brain is connected to my body — the thing that has been carrying my head around for the last 56 years. Since completing my undergraduate degree I have been increasingly immobilized by my working life. Sitting still at a desk, staring at a screen, it’s mostly through my fingers that I connect to my brain.
“I felt great,” I reply. “I could feel it in my back.” Rob is quick to encourage and set up more weight. Then cheerfully he’ll say “okay, next set.”
Every accomplishment in my life has been centered in my head — grades, degrees, promotions, published papers and teaching. But on reflection, I wasn’t paying much attention to my body.
Weightlifting is different. Rob is a trainer and manager at my local gym, my guide in helping me with a single goal — get strong. Despite my age, size and beginner status, Rob has made me feel safe. He is always close by, watching and posing questions. Like “where did you feel that?” or the more general request, “Describe that for me.”
Early on I took these as rote (机械性流程) pleasantries (客套话). Over time I realized he wanted more than just routine answers. Having shown me how to do an exercise, Rob would encourage me to think about the muscle or chain of muscles as they moved. The questions were a test of that connection. Gradually, I started thinking my way back into my body. Not my body as a whole but as individual, connections to newly identified places. Intentionally. Specifically. Magically. It’s surprisingly difficult.
I am five months into a new way of living with this 56-year-old body. It talks to me in a tally different way now. It reminds me of my capabilities, my muscles calling me to move, demanding to be challenged. And I long to continue this dialogue so that I’m ready the next time Rob says: “Describe that to me.”
24.What can we learn from the third paragraph?
A.The author is allergic to exercise.
B.The author has been living an active life.
C.The author doesn’t understand the trainer.
D.The author’s fingers may be flexible.
25.Why did Rob ask the author to describe what she felt?
A.To help her release pressure.
B.To help her feel her muscles working.
C.To keep her focused on work.
D.To stop the embarrassing atmosphere.
26.What does the last sentence imply?
A.The author’s gratitude to Rob.
B.The author’s solid determination.
C.The author’s recommendation to readers.
D.The author’s confusion about weightlifting.
27.Which of the following may be a suitable title of the passage?
A.A brand-new lifestyle.
B.An effective way of exercise.
C.Weightlifting: my favorite exercise.
D.Keeping muscles connected

Imagine a warm spring day 66 million years ago. Fish would have been swimming in the rivers in an area that’s now North Dakota in the US. Seconds later, the serenity (宁静) was ended by destruction.
These could have been the very last moments of the dinosaur era when a city-sized asteroid (小行星) struck Earth, killing off three quarters of all species on the planet. According to a study published in Nature on Feb 23, the asteroid hit in springtime.
Researchers in 2019 discovered fossilized fishes in North Dakota that died shortly after the asteroid hit Earth. They examined the fossils with a particle accelerator and found out there was seasonal growth on the bones. All fish bone cell densities and volumes can indicate the season. Because the accelerator also could capture the sizes, researchers were able to determine when in the year the asteroid hit, Dennis Voeten, a researcher at Uppsala University in Sweden told USA Today.
The timing of the collision, at least for the Northern Hemisphere, came at a particularly sensitive stage. “I think spring puts a large group of the late Cretaceous biota (白垩纪生物) in a very vulnerable spot because they were out and about looking for food, attending to offspring and trying to build up resources after the harsh winter.” Melanie During, the main author of the study, said at a news briefing.
In the Southern Hemisphere, it was autumn, a season when many creatures prepare for winter. Therefore, life in the Southern Hemisphere was a lot more prepared for this event.
It is unclear whether small animals in the Northern Hemisphere actual did worse than those in the south. There is evidence that Northern Hemisphere turtles were wiped out in the asteroid strike, after which their habitats were later repopulated by turtles from the south, Voeten told The Guardian.
28.On what basis did researchers determine the time of year the asteroid hit?
A.The kinds of fossilized fish cells.
B.The number of fish fossils in the area.
C.The appearance of different fish species.
D.The volume and density of fossilized fish bones.
29.What does the underlined word “offspring” most likely mean in paragraph 4?
A.The young. B.A season.
C.The homeless. D.A creature.
30.What can be inferred from the passage?
A.The time of the asteroid strike was the same around the globe.
B.There were still turtles in the Northern Hemisphere after the asteroid strike.
C.No creatures could survive the asteroid impact whether in the south or north.
D.The extinction of many species has little to do with the asteroid strike.
31.What’s the main purpose of the article?
A.To discuss why dinosaurs went extinct.
B.To explain the science behind asteroids.
C.To explore the impact of the asteroid strike.
D.To report on new research on the asteroid strike.

Bicycle riding has taken the world by storm. Bicycles are typically made of steel or aluminum(铝)but now there is a unique company that is growing bikes on trees.
These bicycles are made of British-grown ash trees(白蜡树)by Welsh furniture maker Andy Dix. His company, Twmpa Frames, is making bikes that are both high performance and environmentally sustainable. Going from furniture to bicycles came about after a conversation with author Rob Penn. Penn was looking for craftsmen to make things from an ash tree that fell for his book: The Man Who Made Things Out of Trees.
“We talked about what I might build, and I suggested a bike,“ said Dix. "It seemed like a good fit, but actually I had no experience in bike building, and Rob had a publishing deadline. In the end, I built him a writing desk instead." But the idea interested Dix who decided that he had to make it happen just to see if he could.
It took two years to build the prototype(原型)that was made from ash wood Dix tested the wooden bike on the roughest roads he could find and discovered that it was comfortable, and excellent at absorbing vibrations(振动).He put more than 3,000 miles on the bike. While cutting down trees can add to more carbon in the atmosphere, sustainable tree farming is possible. Sustainable forestry is about balancing the needs of the environment and forest communities through limiting harvests and replanting trees.
Producing a ton of aluminum in Britain results in carbon emissions of 4,532kg while producing a ton of wood only results in 457kg. Making bicycle frames out of wood won't make a huge difference but it is a small roll in the right direction.
The cost of a new Twmpa Cycle is out of reach for many bicycle riders; the idea of using sustainable materials like ash could start a new cycling revolution that puts the environment first. The company is even making plans to produce a wooden e-bike. Helping the environment could be just a pedal away.
32.Why is Rob Penn mentioned?
A.To tell us he was a great author.
B.To praise him for his contribution.
C.To explain why Andy Dix made bikes,
D.To promote his new book to readers.
33.What can we infer from Paragraph 3?
A.Dix took pride in his idea. B.Dix was a skilled worker.
C.Dix was a determined man. D.Dix seldom kept his promise.
34.What is the advantage of making bikes out of wood instead of aluminum?
A.Lowering costs. B.Reducing pollution.
C.Lasting longer. D.Getting rid of vibrations.
35.What's the best title for the text?
A.This Bicycle Grows on Trees
B.Furniture Maker Makes Bikes
C.Bicycle Riding Becomes Popular
D.A Company Values the Environment

By morning, Afiq knew what he had to do. He had not slept a wink but had sat in the balcony all night thinking. He stretched his body and went back to his room. His brother Affin was still asleep.
It was Saturday and there was no school. Afiq's mother asked him to buy some groceries for her. On his way out, he glanced at his motorcycle with the broken front lamp and scratches on the side. Afiq straightened his shoulders and went to complete his purchase.
It was late morning when Afiq was free to carry out his plan. He marched down the road to Osman's house. When he arrived, Aniya appeared at the doorway and greeted him warmly. She invited him in and served him tea and some cakes. Afiq nervously asked to speak to Osman. She told him that her father was out but would be home very soon. Sure enough, the elderly man returned in ten minutes.
Afiq cleared his throat a few times and said that he had come to confess (坦白). “I'm so sorry. I was careless yesterday and knocked into your parked car,” Afiq said. Osman looked at the 17-year-old youth, surprised, “So, you are saying that you are the culprit (肇事者) who crashed into my car and then ran away?” Afiq went red. He nodded, “I'm sorry for not telling you earlier. I was too frightened.”
The elderly man smiled and said, “But you're not too frightened to confess now?”
Afiq said uncertainly, “I could not sleep last night thinking about it. I knew I had to do the right thing.”
Osman was silent for a minute before saying in a kind voice, “Do you think it a right thing to cover up for your brother?”
