    押全国卷第24—27题阅读理解B篇记叙文

    记叙文讲述的是发生在当前或过去或将来事情的经过,包括人物的故事情节。文章内容涉及交代何人、何时、何地、为什么、怎么样、做了什么等等。这是我们在阅读记叙文时要首先了解的,接着按照线索弄清事情的来龙去脉,就能理解整个故事。值得注意的是:记叙文的叙事顺序有顺叙、倒叙和插叙三种。
    ★ 顺叙,即记叙的时候按照事情发生、发展、和结局的顺序来写,前因后果、条理很清楚;
    ★ 倒叙,即不按照事情发生的先后顺序来叙述,而是从最重要,最能引人入胜的事件开始,然后再回过头来追述故事的开端和经过;
    ★ 插叙,即在记叙过程中,需要插入另一些有关的情节,再接着叙述后来的事情。
    总之,读记叙文的关键是抓情节。抓住了故事的情节,就能理清文章的脉络,其它的就迎刃而解了。
    从历年高考统计数据来看,记叙文内容主要归纳为三个类型:
    一、人物传记
    二、人物故事
    三、新闻报道
    从历年高考统计数据来看,记叙文命题类型主要归纳为四个类型:
    一、细节理解题
    二、猜测词义题
    三、推理判断题
    四、主旨大意题

    一、“人物传记”类记叙文解题策略
    人物传记是高中记叙文考试中常遇到的体裁形式。针对人物传记,学生应该重视文中人物学习以及工作情况的描写,并且理顺人物出生到死亡的顺序。针对人物不同年龄阶段做过的事情、说过的话进行理解。主要是针对人物描写时间顺序、生活背景、实践经历、名人名言几个要素进行认知。
    二、“人物故事”类记叙文解题策略
    要有效地解决英语记叙文阅读中的问题,就必须要理清事件发展的顺序以及人物之间的关系。把握记叙文的题材,理清作者想要表达的主要意图。有重点地把握人物特征,了解整个事情的来龙去脉,正确地认识文章的结构以及文章题材倾向。针对叙事为主的记叙文,学生应该注意:
    ☛ 记叙的要素(who、when、where、what、why、how)
    ☛ 叙述的人称(第一人称/第三人称)
    ☛ 记叙的顺序或方法(顺叙、倒叙和插叙)
    ☛ 叙述的线索 (以时间为线索;以地点为线索;以事件发展的过程为线索;以事物的象征意义为线索;以人物的思想行为及认知的过程为线索)
    三、“新闻报道”类记叙文解题策略
    新闻报道类阅读理解首先注意新闻“倒金字塔”结构特点,重视“首段”和“段首”,因为这样可以抓住文章的主旨句,有利于把握文章大意和作者写作意图。
    同时,还应学会运用括号法分析长难句,把影响考生理解的各种从句、非谓语动词短语以及复杂介词短语括起来,从而达到“去枝叶,留主干”的目的,进而准确理解句子含义。
    四、阅读理解记叙文答题策略
    一把钥匙开一把锁。要解答好记叙文阅读理解题,就应该有一套针对性强的方法和技巧。下面是我们在阅读教学中积累下来的一点心得体会,希望能对大家有所帮助。
    ☛顺藤摸瓜
    记叙文中有大量的事件发展过程中的细节,包括记叙文的5W(what, who, when, where, why)要素。因此我们作答细节题的时候,一般只需要由前到后,从上到下,一题一题地做就可以了。
    ☛左顾右盼
    在做题过程中,需要抓住题干中的关键词语,然后到文中准确地找到与之相关的语句,或是疑似语句的位置,接着去左顾,或右盼,在前句或后句寻找线索。
    ☛刨根问底
    主旨大意题或推理判断题等不可被题干的表象所迷惑,要像剥洋葱一样,一层一层地剥;要在文前文后去查找,在字里行间里去寻觅。有时还少不了借助自己的生活经验和常理来体会这言外之意。
    ☛拨云见日
    每年的高考阅读题中,特别是记叙文的阅读题,都会出现一至两道词义猜测题。这时,你不仅需要"左顾右盼",还需要在几句话,一个段落,乃至整篇文章的字里行间中快速搜寻,看看前面、后面都发生了些什么;反复琢磨人物、事物,或者人物与事物之间的内在联系,才可能在最后拨开团团迷雾,从四个选项中选出正确答案。
    ☛一锤定音
    有时记叙文最后一题需要选定标题,颇有难度。既要注意文章反复出现的关键词(key words),还应注意文章的主旨或隐含意义。实在有困难的话,还可以用排除法。从历年高考统计数据来看,记叙文标题可以是以下情况:短语型;句子型;问句型等。

    故地重游伦敦玩滑板找到自己久违的熟悉感
    6分钟
    _____/4
When I was 9, we packed up our home in Los Angeles and arrived at Heathrow, London on a gray January morning. Everyone in the family settled quickly into the city except me. Without my beloved beaches and endless blue—sky days, I felt at a loss and out of place. Until I made a discovery.
Southbank, at an eastern bend in the Thames, is the center of British skateboarding, where the continuous crashing of skateboards left your head ringing. I loved it. I soon made friends with the local skaters. We spoke our own language. And my favorite: Safe. Safe meant cool. It meant hello. It meant don't worry about it. Once, when trying a certain trick on the beam(横杆), I fell onto the stones, damaging a nerve in my hand, and Toby came over, helping me up: Safe, man. Safe. A few minutes later, when I landed the trick, my friends beat their boards loud, shouting: “ Safe! Safe! Safe!” And that's what mattered—landing tricks, being a good skater.
When I was 15, my family moved to Washington. I tried skateboarding there, but the locals were far less welcoming. Within a couple of years, I'd given it up.
When I returned to London in 2004, I found myself wandering down to Southbank, spending hours there. I've traveled back several times since, most recently this past spring. The day was cold but clear: tourists and Londoners stopped to watch the skaters. Weaving(穿梭)among the kids who rushed by on their boards, I found my way to the beam. Then a rail—thin teenager, in a baggy white T-shirt, skidded(滑)up to the beam. He sat next to me. He seemed not to notice the man next to him. But soon I caught a few of his glances. “I was a local here 20 years ago,” I told him. Then, slowly, he began to nod his head. “Safe, man. Safe.”
    “Yeah,” I said. “Safe.”
    24. What can we learn about the author soon after he moved to London?
    A. He felt disappointed. B. He gave up his hobby.
    C. He liked the weather there. D. He had disagreements with his family.
    25. What do the underlined words “Safe! Safe! Safe!” probably mean?
    A. Be careful! B. Well done! C. No way! D. Don't worry!
    26. Why did the author like to spend time in Southbank when he returned to London?
    A. To join the skateboarding. B. To make new friends.
    C. To learn more tricks. D. To relive his childhood days
    27. What message does the author seem to convey in the text?
    A. Children should learn a second language.
    B. Sport is necessary for children's health.
    C. Children need a sense of belonging
    D. Seeing the world is a must for children.
    24. A。 根据第一段“Everyone in the family settled quickly into the city except me. Without my beloved beaches and endless blue -sky days, I felt at a loss and out of place.(除了我之外的家里人都很快适应这个城市,没有了我喜爱的沙滩和蓝天,我感到迷茫和无措)”可知,作者刚到伦敦的时候因为没有喜爱的沙滩,不能很好的融入到新的城市,感到很沮丧,故选A。
    25. B。 根据画线词后文“And that's what mattered—landing tricks, being a good skater. (那才是真正重要的——滑板的落地技巧掌握了才是一名好的滑板玩家)”可知,作者掌握了滑板落地技巧,因此他的朋友大声欢呼,因此可以推出本句的Safe是赞美的含义,结合选项,故选B。
    26. D。推理判断题。根据第四段““I was a local here 20 years ago," I told him. Then, slowly, he began to nod his head. “Safe, man.

When “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” was first shown to the public last month, a group of excited animal activists gathered on Hollywood Boulevard. But they weren’t there to throw red paint on fur-coat-wearing film stars. Instead, one activist, dressed in a full-body monkey suit, had arrived with a sign praising the filmmakers: “Thanks for not using real apes (猿)!”
The creative team behind “Apes” used motion-capture (动作捕捉) technology to create digitalized animals, spending tens of millions of dollars on technology that records an actor’s performance and later processes it with computer graphics to create a final image (图像). In this case, one of a realistic-looking ape.
Yet “Apes” is more exception than the rule. In fact, Hollywood has been hot on live animals lately. One nonprofit organization, which monitors the treatment of animals in filmed entertainment, is keeping tabs on more than 2,000 productions this year. Already, a number of films, including “Water for Elephants,” “The Hangover Part Ⅱ” and “Zookeeper,” have drawn the anger of activists who say the creatures acting in them haven’t been treated properly.
In some cases, it’s not so much the treatment of the animals on set in the studio that has activists worried; it’s the off-set training and living conditions that are raising concerns. And there are questions about the films made outside the States, which sometimes are not monitored as closely as productions filmed in the States.
    24. Why did the animal activists gather on Hollywood Boulevard?
    A. To see famous film stars.
    B. To oppose wearing fur coats.
    C. To raise money for animal protection.
    D. To express thanks to some filmmakers.
    25. What does paragraph 2 mainly talk about?
    A. The cost of making “Apes.”
    B. The creation of digitalized apes.
    C. The publicity about “Apes.”
    D. The performance of real apes.
    26. What does the underlined phrase “keeping tabs on” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
    A. Listing completely.
    B. Directing professionally.
    C. Promoting successfully.
    D. Watching carefully.
    27. What can we infer from the last paragraph about animal actors?
    A. They may be badly treated.
    B. They should take further training.
    C. They could be traded illegally
    D. They would lose popularity.
根据第一段“Instead, one activist ,dressed in a full -body monkey suit ,had arrived with a sign praising the filmmakers:“Thanks for not using real apes”可知,相反,一名身穿全套猴服活动人士来到现场,手里拿着一块牌子,称赞电影制作人:“感谢你们不用真正的猿猴。所以动物保护者聚集在好莱坞大道是为了向电影制作者表示感谢。故选D。
    25. B。主旨大意题。根据第二段“The creative team behind "Apes" used motion-capture (动作捕捉) technology to create digitalized animals, spending tens of millions of dollars on technology that I records an actor’s performance and later processes it with computer graphics to create a final image (图像). ”可知,“人猿”背后的创作团队利用动作捕捉技术创造数字化的动物,在记录演员表演的技术上,花费数千万美元,然后用电脑图形处理,以产生最终的影像。由此可知,第二段主要是关于数字化人猿的创造。故选B。
    26. D。词句猜测题。根据第三段划线前的句子“One nonprofit organization, which monitors the treatment or animals in filmed entertainment”(一个非营利组织,监控动物在电影娱乐中的待遇)以及下文Already, a number of films, including "Water for Elephants," "The Hangover Part Ⅱ" and "Zookeeper," have drawn the anger of activists who say the creatures acting in them haven’t been treated properly.(许多电影,包括“大象的眼泪”,“宿醉Ⅱ”和“管理员”,引起了动物保护人士的愤怒,他们说影片中的动物没有遭到很好的对待。)
    27. A。 In some cases, it’s not so much the treatment of the animals on set in the studio that has activists worried; it’s the off-set training and living conditions that are raising concerns. And there are questions about the films made outside the States, which sometimes are not monitored as closely as productions filmed in the Sates.”(在某些情况下,让活动人士担心的并不是电影棚里对动物的待遇;让人担忧的是训练和生活条件。 故选A。

    _____/4
I was getting ready to go to bed when the phone rang. This could not be good. My mind raced through the list of family members who might need help, but the voice was hardly familiar.
"Lindy, this is Lesley." I didn't know Lesley well. We did occasionally speak with each other, but to say we were friends was not appropriate. I asked what she needed. Perhaps something really awful caused her to reach someone she barely knew. Instead, she asked me, "Do you have room for a turkey? In your freezer?" We had lots of room in our freezer, and in fact, too much. "Sure," I responded, "did your freezer break down?" "Not exactly," Lesley replied, "but I will explain when I arrive."
Minutes later came a huge freezer truck, Lesley stepped down and explained the lease (租约) of the grocery store her husband serviced had run out and that they had to empty all the freezers that very night. Thinking it was a shame to throw away all this good food, they decided to drop off food to anyone she could think of. Noticing our freezer was pretty empty, Lesley asked to fill it up. Our home was their last stop and anything left would have to be put in our freezer. An hour later, everything finished, I asked her, "When will you come back for all this?" Lesley laughed, "We don't want it back. It is yours! Thanks for helping us out!" Then they waved goodbye and drove away.
"For helping them out?" We opened our freezer door. Inside were all expensive foods we never bought but often longed to try. We were struggling to buy groceries, yet it was not something we shared with anyone. However, our needs were met in an unexpected way, by that call, "Do you have room for a turkey?"
    1. How did the writer feel when she heard the phone ringing?
    A. Angry. B. Anxious. C. Shocked. D. Relieved.
    2. What does the author indicate by the underlined sentence in paragraph 2?
    A. They were running out of food supplies.
    B. Their freezer was too large to fill.
    C. They were glad to put the turkey in the freezer.
    D. Their freezer was less frequently used.
    3. Why did Lesley call up the writer?
    A. Because she didn't want food to go to waste.
    B. Because the writer was her good friend.
    C. Because something awful had happened.
    D. Because she knew the writer was in need.
    4. What can be a suitable title for the text?
    A. A friend on speaking terms.
    B. Who is my angel?
    C. Unexpected bargains.
    D. Do you have room for a turkey?
I was getting ready to go to bed when the phone rang. This could not be good. My mind raced through the list of family members who might need help, but the voice was hardly familiar.
    2. A。 We had lots of room in our freezer, and in fact, too much.
    3. A。 Lesley stepped down and explained the lease (租约) of the grocery store her husband serviced had run out and that they had to empty all the freezers that very night 和第二句 Thinking it was a shame to throw away all this good food, they decided to drop off food to anyone she could think of. 故选A。
    4. D。 I was getting ready to go to bed when the phone rang. Instead, she asked me, " Do you have room for a turkey? In your freezer?" However, our needs were met in an unexpected way, by that call, " Do you have room for a turkey?"

Temidayo Adedokun, 31, who was born in Nigeria and now is working in America, became pregnant with her first child. She couldn’t hide her joy, and couldn’t wait to shop for baby clothes with traditional African prints that she grew up wearing.
“I was super surprised that I failed to find affordably priced African aesthetic(美学的) products that were designed from an authentic place, ” Temidayo said.
Temidayo decided to take matters into her own hands. At first, she focused on creating clothes just for her baby. But then, she put some of them on a website to see what happened.
The feedback she got gave her just enough confidence. She figured she’d make the baby clothes an after-work side business to her full-time position as a lawyer in Oakland, California, until one day she was told she was given a boot. Once again, she needed to make her own choice. That’s when she decided to make it a full-time job.
“I had to evaluate: Am I going to search for another job I don’t have a great desire for?” she said. “Or am I going to take this as a chance I’m not sure about myself? After all, I’m not familiar with this field. What if something unexpected happens? However, for the symbols of children’s clothing in my heart, I threw myself into it. So I chose the latter. ”Then, in March 2020, Temidayo officially announced her own brand: Ade + Ayo.
Since then, Temidayo has received much praise from other African parents informing her that her clothes help them start having conversations with their kids about what they’re wearing and allow them to show their children the treasures handed down by their ancestors. And, for those who aren’t African, her clothes have been a way for parents to introduce their kids to a new and colorful world. “I feel very blessed to be able to be doing this,” she said.
    1. How did Temidayo feel after trying to buy African aesthetic clothes?
    A. Pleased. B. Confident.
    C. Stressful. D. Disappointed.
    2. What does the underlined phrase “given a boot” in paragraph 4 mean?
    A. Dismissed. B. Promoted.
    C. Well-known. D. Accused.
    3. What did Temidayo originally think of her creating her own brand?
    A. It was informal. B. It was profitable.
    C. It was risky. D. It was trendy.
    4. How can we evaluate Ade + Ayo?
    A. It’s created African aesthetics. B. It’s spread authentic cultures.
    C. It’s targeted overseas Africans. D. It’s inspired people’s creativity.
根据第二段的“I was super surprised that I failed to find affordably priced African aesthetic(美学的) products that were designed from an authentic place (我非常惊讶,我没能找到价格实惠的非洲美学产品,这些产品都是在正宗的地方设计的)”可推知,没能买到价格实惠的非洲美学产品,她感到惊讶,同时也会觉得很失望,故选D。
    2. A。 根据第四段的“That’s when she decided to make it a full-time job.(就在那时,她决定把它变成一份全职工作。)”
根据倒数第二段的“After all, I’m not familiar with this field. What if something unexpected happens?(毕竟,我对这个领域并不熟悉。如果发生了意想不到的事情怎么办?)”可知,Temidayo创建自己的品牌时最初是觉得很有风险的,因为她不熟悉这个领域,故选C。
    4. B。推理判断题。根据最后一段的“her clothes help them start having conversations with their kids about what they’re wearing and allow them to show their children the treasures handed down by their ancestors. And, for those who aren’t African, her clothes have been a way for parents to introduce their kids to a new and colorful world.(她的衣服帮助他们开始与孩子们谈论他们的穿着,让他们可以向孩子们展示祖先传下来的珍宝。对于那些不是非洲人的人来说,她的服装已经成为父母向孩子介绍一个新的、丰富多彩的世界的一种方式。)”可推知,Ade + Ayo这个品牌传播了真正的文化。故选B。

A British woman who won a S1 million prize after she was named the World's Best Teacher will use the cash to bring inspirational figures into UK schools.
Andria Zafirakou,a north London secondary school teacher, said she wanted to bring about a classroom revolution (变革). “We are going to make a change, ”she said.“I’ve started a project to promote the teaching of the arts in our schools.”
The project results from the difficulties many schools have in getting artists of any sort - whether an up-and-coming local musician or a major movie star - into schools to work with and inspire children.
Zafirakou began the project at Alperton Community School, her place of work for the past twelve years. “I've seen those magic moments when children are talking to someone they are inspired by - their eyes are shining and their faces light up,” she said. “We need artists, more than ever in our schools."
Artist Michael Craig-Martin said: “Andria's brilliant project to bring artists from all fields into direct contact with children is particularly welcome at a time when the arts are being downgraded in schools." It was a mistake to see the arts as unnecessary, he added.
Historian Sir Simon Schama is also a supporter of the project. He said that arts education in schools was not just an add-on. “It is absolutely necessary. The future depends on creativity and creativity depends on the young. What will remain of us when artificial intelligence takes over will be our creativity, and it is our creative spirit, our visionary sense of freshness, that has been our strength for centuries."
    1. What will Zafirakou do with her prize money?
    A. Make a movie. B. Build new schools.
    C. Run a project. D. Help local musicians.
    2. What does Craig-Martin think of the teaching of the arts in UK schools?
    A. It is particularly difficult. B. It increases artists' income.
    C. It opens children's mind. D. It deserves greater attention.
    3. What should be stressed in school education according to Schama?
    A. Moral principles. B. Interpersonal skills.
    C. Creative abilities. D. Positive worldviews.
    4. Which of the following is a suitable title for the text?
    A. Bring Artists to Schools B. When Historians Meet Artists
    C. Arts Education in Britain D. The World's Best Arts Teacher

    _____/4
A hungry badger (獾) searching for food seems to have uncovered what turned out to be hundreds of Roman coins in a Spanish cave, according to a new study.
Archaeologists (考古学家) first discovered several coins laying on the ground at the entrance to a small cave in the woodlands outside Grado in northern Spain in April 2021. The researchers suspect that the coins were unearthed by a badger from a nearby den (兽窝) after a heavy snow which made it harder for animals to find food. The hungry badger probably got into the cave looking for food but came across the coins instead.
After fully exploring the cave, researchers collected 209 coins dating to between the third and fifth centuries A.D. “To date, this is the largest amount of Roman coins found in n cave in northern Spain,” the researchers wrote in their paper. They described the discovery as an “exceptional find”.
In the late 1930s, a collection of 14 gold Roman coins, known as the Chapipi treasure, was also found in the same woodlands. The researchers believe that local people may have buried their coins to keep them safe during a period of intense political instability in the region. The most recent coin in the newly-discovered Grado collection dates to A.D. 430, which was after the Suebi—a group of Germanic people originally from modern-day Germany and the Czech Republic—pushed the Romans out of Spain in A.D. 409, according to El Pais.
The researchers suspect that the newly-discovered coins are part of a vaster treasure and will return to the cave for further exploration to look for more coins and evidence that the cave may also have been the home of displaced Roman people. “We want to know if it was a one-off hiding place, or if there was a group of humans living there,” lead researcher Alfonso Fanjul Peraza told El Pais.
    1. Where did the researchers find the first few coins in 2021?
    A. Near a Spanish cave. B. On a Spanish playground.
    C. At the entrance to a woodland. D. In a badger’s den.
    2. What do the researchers think of the discovery in 2021?
    A. It’s dangerous. B. It’s timely. C. It’s meaningless. D. It’s unusual.
    3. What does the underlined word “them” refer to in Paragraph 4?
    A. The Romans. B. The coins. C. The woodlands. D. The researchers.
    4. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
    A. More information may be revealed by the coins.
    B. The ancient Roman people had a unique lifestyle.
    C. The researchers doubt the former guess of the coins.
    D. The researchers will return the coins to the Roman people.
1.A。 根据文章第二段的第一句“Archaeologists (考古学家) first discovered several coins laying on the ground at the entrance to a small cave in the woodlands outside Grado in northern Spain in April 2021.(2021年4月,考古学家在西班牙北部格拉多郊外林地的一个小洞穴入口处首次发现了地上的几枚硬币)”可知,考古学家在西班牙境内的一个洞穴附近发现了几枚硬币。故选A。
    2. D。 根据第三段第二、三句“‘To date, this is the largest amount of Roman coins found in a cave in northern Spain,’ the researchers wrote in their paper. They described the discovery as an ‘exceptional find’.(研究人员在论文中写道:‘到目前为止,这是在西班牙北部的一个洞穴中发现的数量最大的罗马硬币。’他们把这一发现描述为‘非凡的发现’。)”可知,此处exceptional意为“不寻常的,罕见的”,与D项unusual(不寻常的,罕见的)语意相同。故选D。
    3. B。词句猜测题。根据第四段划线词所在句“The researchers believe that local people may have buried their coins to keep them safe during a period of intense political instability in the region. (研究人员认为,在这一地区政治动荡的时期,当地人可能把硬币埋了起来,以保证它们的安全)”可知,them指代句中的their coins。故选B。
    4. A。 根据最后一段“The researchers suspect that the newly-discovered coins are part of a vaster treasure and will return to the cave for further exploration to look for more coins and evidence that the cave may also have been the home of displaced Roman people. ‘We want to know if it was a one-off hiding place, or if there was a group of humans living there,’ lead researcher Alfonso Fanjul Peraza told El Pais.(研究人员怀疑,新发现的硬币是一个更大的宝藏的一部分,并将返回洞穴进行进一步的探索,以寻找更多的硬币和证据,该洞穴可能也是流离失所的罗马人的家园。首席研究员阿方索·凡朱尔·佩拉扎告诉《国家报》说:“我们想知道这个洞穴是否是一个一次性的藏身之处,还是曾经有一群人类居住在那里。’)”可知,这一段介绍了研究人员根据已有发现的猜测和继续研究的计划,结合Alfonso Fanjul Peraza的话可知,此次发现的金币可能会带来更多的考古发现。故选A。

Earlier this year, a physician emailed me to thank me for an essay I wrote. I couldn’t believe he could find the essay--after all, 18 years had passed since it was published. But he had found the piece--my first narrative (叙事体的)medicine article about my experience parenting a son with a complex medical disorder---in a drawer he was cleaning out as he prepared to retire. He had tracked me down to share how important such articles were to him during his years caring for patients. I was touched and reminded of how important these pieces were to my own professional and personal journey.
At the time, major medical journals were beginning to publish narrative pieces. I submitted my first article, hopeful that it might make a difference for others and confirm some productivity during this time. But I was also nervous about the potential exposure. I was surprised and thrilled when it was accepted for publication, and readers' sympathy, constructive responses alleviated my concerns about sharing my family's story.
Over the following years, I somehow made it to a researcher. Our youngest daughter was born; our son was diagnosed (诊断) with Schwartz-Jampel syndrome(综合症); and I took 5 months away from my study to help him get the support services he needed. Through it all, the narrative articles continued to flow. Writing about our extended family of health care providers and the need for family mental health services was highly smooth, and reading strangers’ responses was equally effective.
In the year after returning to my career, I wrote my first funded proposals, to study the impact of traumatic (创伤性) health care events on providers, patients, and families, and to examine why patients do or don't seek help for depression. I probably would not have taken these directions with my research if the topics had not been such a vital part of my life. But I realized that there didn't need to be a division between my personal pain and the enthusiasms that fueled my research. Instead, I could imagine and create a life that satisfied my needs for my research, my family, and myself.
    1. What was the author's first narrative medicine article about?
    A. The reasons for patients refusing to seek help for depression.
    B. The influence of traumatic health care events on families.
    C. The appreciation from a doctor approaching his retirement.
    D. The story of caring for a son with a rare disorder.
    2. What does the underlined word "alleviated" mean in paragraph 2?
    A. Caused. B. Reduced. C. Described. D. Strengthened.
    3. What can be inferred about the author from the text?
    A. She has a habit of writing. B. She only has a son.
    C. She suffers from the depression. D. She stays away from her family.
    4. What conclusion can we make according to the text?
    A. Wasting time is robbing oneself.
    B. God helps those who help themselves.
    C. Being on sea, sail; being on land, settle.
    D. All things in their being are good for something.
根据第一段中的“…he had found the piece---my first narrative medicine article about my experience parenting a son with a complex medical disorder..”
根据第二段的“But I was also nervous about the potential exposure, I was surprised and thrilled when it was accepted for publication, and readers’ sympathy, constructive responses alleviated my concerns about sharing my family’s story..”
    3. A。 根据全文中的“I was touched and reminded of how important these pieces were to my own professional and personal journey.,At the time, major medical journals were beginning to publish narrative pieces. I submitted my first article, hopeful that it might make a difference for others and confirm some productivity during this time.” 故选A。

    _____/4
A small bowl bought at a yard sale in Connecticut for just $ 35 has been identified as a rare 15th-century Chinese antique.
The blue-and-white bowl was made by China's royal court during the Ming dynasty. It is now expected to sell for up to $500,000, according to Sotheby's auction(拍卖)house in New York, where the auction will take place next month.
The purchase was made last year near New Haven, Connecticut. “I was just hanging around there aimlessly. But when I saw this bowl, I didn't even bargain over the $35 asking price,” the owner said. Shortly after the purchase, he sent photos of the bowl to auction specialists, who identified it as an item of historical significance.
Upon closer inspection, the artifact was found to have originated from the period of Yongle Emperor, who ruled from 1403 to 1424 - a period noted for its distinctive porcelain (瓷器)techniques. It's now valued between $300,000 and $500,000, with the top estimate nearly 14,300 times the amount it was purchased for.
“I was deeply attracted by the techniques. You can see why this bowl is so highly-valued from the very smooth porcelain body, silky glaze(上釉)and special blue coloring, which were never reproduced in later dynasties,” McAteer, an auction specialist, said.
“The Yongle Emperor improved the porcelain techniques and elevated the importance of porcelain from being an ordinary bowl into a true work of art. This small bowl has both practical and artistic value, ” McAteer said.
    1. What can we infer about the bowl's owner?
    A. He found the bowl by accident.
    B. He hesitated during the purchase.
    C. He doubted whether the bowl was real.
    D. He bought the bowl because it was cheap.
    2. What makes the bowl so precious?
    A. The blue color on it. B. The long history it has.
    C. The people who made it. D. The unique techniques used.
    3. What does the underlined word “elevated” in Paragraph 6 probably mean?
    A. Forsaw. B. Promoted.
    C. Assessed. D. Acknowledged.
    4. What's the best title of the text?
    A. An Amazing Bowl B. A Special Yard Sale
    C. The Return of Porcelains D. A Man Making Fortune
    1. A。 根据第三段第二句和第三句“I was just hanging around there aimlessly. But when I saw this bowl, I didn't even bargain over the $35 asking price”(我只是在那儿漫无目的地闲逛。 故选A。
    2. D。 根据第三段第一句“Upon closer inspection, the artifact was found to have originated from the period of Yongle Emperor, who ruled from 1403 to 1424 - a period noted for its distinctive porcelain (瓷器)techniques.”(经仔细观察,发现该工艺品起源于1403年至1424年的永乐年间,这一时期以其独特的瓷器工艺而闻名。)
根据第六段第一句中的“The Yongle Emperor improved the porcelain techniques”(永乐皇帝改进了制瓷技术)和下文的“from being an ordinary bowl into a true work of art.(从普通的碗变成真正的艺术品。) ”可知,此处是指提高了瓷器的重要性,所以elevated意为“提高”。故选B。
    4. A。 根据第一段“A small bowl bought at a yard sale in Connecticut for just $ 35 has been identified as a rare 15th-century Chinese antique.”(一只在康涅狄格州的庭院拍卖会上以35美元购得的小碗被认定是一件罕见的15世纪中国古董。) 故选A。

Candles were burning bright, exciting my two-year-old son, Jack, who moved forward to blow them out.
Jack’s third birthday was still a few months away but ever since his dad Gary’s big day earlier that year, my son hadn’t stopped talking about celebrating his own. His older brothers Oliver, 6, and Josh, 10, were happy to sing the birthday song with him.
But over time, I grew concerned that Jack wasn’t well. My lovely boy was now a shadow of his former self. How could I ignore it, though doctors weren’t too concerned?
One day I was at work and shared my fears with a colleague. She comforted me and said it was safe to be careful. When I returned home later, I packed a bag and prepared to take Jack to hospital.
At the hospital, I just couldn’t shake the feeling that bad news was coming. My suspicions(怀疑) were confirmed. We were told he had a very rare form of cancer.
Jack was going downhill rapidly. Gary and I took it in turns to stay with him in the hospital. “Your birthday’s coming up,” I told Jack each day, hoping he could remember the times we had sung him happy birthday before.
“Jack’s only option is a stem cell transplant (干细胞移植), and a brother or a sister might be the best chance you have.” a doctor told us. “He can have my head if he needs it!” Josh cried. Oliver wasn’t as enthusiastic as his older brother, but it was a huge relief when he was confirmed as a match.
Doctors were cautious about saying Oliver might save Jack’s life in case it didn’t work as planned. To their relief, the result was comforting. They were moved by Oliver’s bravery.
Oliver, now seven, really did save his little brother and they’re now closer than ever. “I didn’t want to do it at the very beginning but at the end I kind of regretted feeling like that because now I know how important it was.” he said.
    1. What mainly contributed to the earlier discovery of Jack’s illness?
    A. Doctors’ increasing concern. B. Jack’s discomfort after the party.
    C. His mother’s natural power and love. D. His mother’s colleague’s reminding.
    2. Why did Jack’s mother mention his birthday each day?
    A. To strengthen their memories. B. To encourage Jack to survive.
    C. To prepare Jack for his birthday. D. To make Gary and herself relaxed.
    3. What can we infer about Oliver?
    A. He hesitated to donate his stem cells at first. B. He had a bad relationship with his brothers.
    C. He envied his mother’s care of Jack. D. He was braver than his older brother.
    4. What is the passage mainly about?
    A. It’s never too late to save a life. B. Magic always comes from belief.
    C. A brother in need is a brother indeed. D. The power to cure comes from the family.
根据文章第三段“But, over time, I grew concerned that Jack wasn’t well. My lovely boy was now a shadow of his former self. How could I ignore it, though doctors weren’t too concerned?”(但是,随着时间的推移,我越来越担心杰克的情况不太好。
根据第六段“Jack was going downhill rapidly. Gary and I took it in turns to stay with him in the hospital.“Your birthday’s coming up,”I told Jack each day, hoping he could remember the times we had sung him happy birthday before.”(杰克正在迅速下坡。
    3. A。 根据文章最后一段最后一句“I didn’t want to do it at the very beginning but at the end I kind of regretted feeling like that because now I know how important it was.” he said.(“一开始我不想这么做,但最后我有点后悔,因为现在我知道这有多重要了。” 故选A。
    4. D。 根据文章倒数第三段前两句““Jack’s only option is a stem cell transplant (干细胞移植), and a brother or a sister might be the best chance you have.” a doctor told us. “He can have my head if he needs it!” Josh cried. ”(“杰克唯一选择是干细胞移植,兄弟姐妹可能是你最好的选择。”一位医生告诉我们。“如果他需要我的头,他可以用它!”乔希哭着说。)和最后一段“Oliver, now seven, really did save his little brother and they’re now closer than ever.“I didn’t want to do it at the very beginning but at the end I kind of regretted feeling like that because now I know how important it was.” he said.”(奥利弗,现在七岁了,真的救了他的弟弟,他们现在比以前更亲密了。“一开始我不想这么做,但最后我有点后悔,因为现在我知道这有多重要了。”他说。),可知这篇文章主要讲述了两个哥哥努力救助得了癌症的弟弟,最终奥利弗通过干细胞移植救了弟弟杰克的生命的故事。所以D选项(治愈的力量来自家庭。)是文章的主旨。故选D。

    为母则刚--母亲应突破极限给孩子树立榜样
    6分钟
    _____/4
I can't stop thinking about the video of a 10-ycar-old girl facing her fears at the top of a ski jump. Her fear, her courage, her joy, her pride-the whole thing has really struck a chord (触动心弦) in me. Of course, the video makes me reflect on the times when I experienced the similar feelings. I remember how in those moments every cell in my body vibrated (颤动) with life. But it also reminded me of the times I didn't choose the more risky options.
I've always been a little bit of a chicken when it comes to my physical safety but I definitely pushed myself more when I was younger. Now that I'm a mom, I feel like I have to stay safe. I worry about what my kids would do without me and that leads me to make safe choices.
But as I watch this fourth grader overcome her fears, I think about how much this experience will mean to her in the future; she'll always have this as a reference point when she comes up against something scary or difficult. She'll be able to look back on this and say, “Well, I did that and the worst part was the bad feeling at the beginning.”
I know I want that view for my 8-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son. I know I want them to take risks. Maybe not every day, maybe not ski-jumping, definitely not extreme sports, but I deeply hope that they will push themselves to their limits, facing down fear with whatever tools they can use and enjoying the great rush that comes from attempting scary things and getting to the other side of them.
So if I want that for my kids, I have to honestly look at my own relationship with risk and say that yes... I play it safe. And I have to ask myself another question: Am I doing enough? Or do I need to make some changes in-my life so that my daughter and son can be inspired to make their own brave decisions?
    1. How did the author react when watching that video?
    A. She felt ashamed of herself. B. She realized that sport was dangerous.
    C. She thought of her own past experiences. D. She regretted taking part in some risky activities.
    2. What does the underlined part in Paragraph 4 most probably refer to?
    A. Making safe choices is important. B. Taking a risk isn't as scary as it seems.
    C. Taking a risk can make you feel bad. D. Overcoming fears requires a long time.
    3. The author most probably thinks that she should ___________.
    A. let her kids play with the girl in the video.
    B. certainly allow her kids to try ski-jumping.
    C. use some tools to practice her kids' courage.
    D. participate in more risky activities to set an example.
    4. What would be the best title for the passage?
    A. Pushing ourselves to our limits B. Paying attention to kids' activities
    C. Learning a kind of risky activity D. Encouraging kids to choose what they like
根据第一段的“Of course, the video makes me reflect on the times when I experienced the similar feeling.”(当然,这段视频让我回想起我有过类似感觉的时候)可知,作者看到视频后想起了自己以前的经历。故选C。
    2. B。 根据第三段“But as I watch this fourth grader overcome her fears, I think about how much this experience will mean to her in the future; she'll always have this as a reference point when she comes up against something scary or difficult. She'll be able to look back on this and say, 'Well, I did that and the worst part was the bad feeling at the beginning.'”(但当我看着这个四年级学生克服她的恐惧时,我想到了这段经历对她未来的意义有多大;当她遇到可怕或困难的事情时,她总是会把这个作为参考点。 推知,that view指代前面“Well, I did that and the worst part was the bad feeling at the beginning.”,所以作者想让孩子们意识到,冒险尝试并不像看起来都那么令人害怕,刚开始可能比较糟糕,但后面会越来越顺利的。故选B。
    3. D。 根据倒数第二段的“I know I want them to take risks. ”(我想让他们冒险),最后一段的“So if I want that for my kids, I have to honestly look at my own relationship with risk”(所以,如果我想让我的孩子也这样,我必须诚实地审视自己与风险的关系)和“Or do I need to make some changes in my life so that my daughter and son can be inspired to make their own brave decisions?”(还是我需要在我的生活中做出一些改变,这样我的女儿和儿子才能受到鼓舞,做出他们自己勇敢的决定?)
    4. A。 根据文章的主要内容,尤其倒数第二段的“I know I want them to take risks. Maybe not every day, maybe not ski-jumping, definitely not extreme sports, but I deeply hope that they will push themselves to their limits, facing down fear with whatever tools they can use and enjoying the great rush that comes from attempting scary things and getting to the other side of them.”(我知道我想让他们冒险。 故选A。

We first met Bob and Jenny in the early days of our marriage. Someone had been returning our garbage cans to the garage each garbage day. Then one day we spotted him: an elderly man who lived across the street. I left cookies outside the garage with a thank-you note. Later that day, a typed letter had replaced the gift. It was from Bob and explained how he would come to walk the neighborhood on garbage day, returning cans for people he barely knew. Back when he had been fighting a war, his young wife, Jenny, had found herself living alone. Neighbors had taken the time to handle her garbage cans so she didn't have to.
A few years after we had moved in, Bob died. We told Jenny how special Bob had been to us. When Jenny invited us over to look through Christmas ornaments, I realized how hard it was to part with that box, a piece of Bob.
These days, we're piling up boxes of our own. We're planning a move. The house that seemed so huge six years ago is fully filled with furniture and books and, of course, people. We know it's time to go, and yet we can't seem to stick the For Sale sign up.
It's not just Jenny. It's the man who lets our kids pick peaches in his front yard. It's the ladies who leave overflowing baskets for our kids on Easter. It's the officer who smiles and makes me feel a little safer when Jim's away. Thank you, I'll say. For teaching us what it means to be a neighbor.
