“Are persnal sad stries a must t win talent shws?” “Shuldn’t talent be judged n the basis f itself withut needing a sad stry f struggle t win?” These are questins Sanya Malhtra psed n a recent Facebk pst.
This mrning I came acrss this interesting pst by Sanya Malhtra. She revealed that she lved dancing and dreamt f becming an actress, but gt defeated in “Dance India Dance” because her backgrund stry wasn’t sad and inspiring enugh. That’s when she started dubting her artistic gift.
This really set me thinking. Why are peple attracted t sb stries? Why d we always appreciate nly thse peple wh have achieved smething after ging thrugh a lt f hardships? Why des the headline f a newspaper “Taxi-driver’s Sn Stands First In UPSC Exam” find mre readers? I think it is because mst peple, wh are in a similar situatin, find it cmfrting that smene has succeeded with s many hardships. I knw it is really very difficult fr peple with financial, health, r family prblems t vercme bstacles and succeed. I really feel prud f them and I am ften tuched and inspired by their stries.
Nw cme back t what Sanya has said. I think this is a talent shw rather than a stry-telling cmpetitin. When it cmes t a cmpetitin f singing r dancing r any fine arts, all the cmpetitrs shuld be judged withut any bias(偏见). N ne shuld lse because they dn’t have a sad stry f struggle t tell. It’s very unfair. They can be given pprtunities therwise, but shuld nt be judged because f their stries.
Maybe, the TV channels d it t attract mre viewers, because the mst imprtant element f any reality shw is these tuching stries. But as Sanya has said, it’s unfair t thse wh haven’t such a stry and are equally talented.
    1. What d we knw abut Sanya Malhtra?
    A. She entered a talent shw.
    B. She wn “Dance India Dance”.
    C. She had a sad stry t tell.
    D. She was rejected in a film.

    C. She has a great gift fr gymnastics.
    D. She used t be cnfident in her artistic talent.
    3. Which f the fllwing headlines appeals t the readers mst accrding t Paragraph 3?

    B. A Gifted Indian Teenager Wn “Dance India Dance”.
    C. An Armless Girl Was Admitted T Harvard University.
    D. A Freshman Paid Off Lans by Getting a Part-time Jb.
    4. Which f the fllwing is the best title f the passage?
