The Maldives is a group of very small islands in the Indian Ocean, near Sri Lanka. There are about 1,200 islands. The Republic of Maldives is the smallest Asian country and it also has the smallest population. About 400,000 people live in the Maldives, 75,000 of whom are on the capital island, Malé. Malé is different from the other islands in the Maldives because it doesn’t have any beaches.  1  

As one of the most popular holiday destinations, the Maldives has truly spectacular sights. Eighty-seven of the islands in the Maldives have different types of hotels on them.  2   They can even stay in a Bangalore, a small cabin right over the water where they can enjoy the clear water and fish with friends. That’s an experience you’ll never forget.

  3  When you arrive on the airport island, you can take a Dhoni taxi and go to Malé. This is a small boat used for transportation around the islands. The Dhoni has a wide range of functions. Apart from being used for fishing, it is popular for transportation of goods and people between the islands.  4  You can use these boats to visit other islands, too.

The Maldives is a popular place for scuba-diving, because there are many wonderful fish in the water to see. Also, the water is very clear.  5  There are many professional diving schools with instructors who speak many languages. You can also go whale and dolphin watching, fishing, surfing, hiking or you can explore the towns.

选材背景：

   高考“七选五”考查指导类说明文比较多一点，但本文反其道而行之，选择了一篇描述类说明文，因为高考强调不能固化命题模式。介绍地点类的“七选五”之前也没有考查过。

“七选五”与《英语课程标准》(2017年版2020修订) 和英语考纲要求

《英语课程标准》(2017年版2020年修订)指出：“阅读理解主要考查学生理解书面语篇的能力，其中包括对语篇内容、语篇结构的理解和把握，也包括对语篇内容的分析、阐释和评价。” 英语《考试大纲》(2019年版；之后，教育部考试院没有再出《考试大纲》)中对阅读的考核目标与要求的第五点是：理解文章的基本结构。“七选五”这种阅读理解题型正是对“语篇结构”的考查。

“七选五”题型分析

命题人在一篇约300词的文章中挖出5个句子，给出七个选项，要求考生根据文章结构、内容，选出正确的句子，填入相应的空白处。

“七选五”考情综述

   1.文章体裁：近三年，除2018年III卷是议论文外，其余均是说明文。

   2.文章长度：近三年，大部分文章挖句后，一般在250词左右。2019年I卷，加上选项后，词数达333词。

   3.文章特征：一般是“总—分—(总)”结构。有主题段，有主题句。全文层次分明，条理清晰。

4.考点特征：除2018年I卷有两空是从句，2018年前的II卷，每年有1-2空是介词短语、从句或不带标点的小标题，七个选项均不带标点符号，其余均是完整句子，且带标点符号。2021年高考选项要么是完整的句子，句末要有句号；要么有一两个是从句或介词短语或不带标点的小标题，标点在横线末。甲卷只有一句为非完整句子，其余均是完整句子。乙卷有两个非完整句子，标点在文中。新高考全部是完整句子，标点在选项中。主要考查段中衔接句；其次考查段落主题句；再其次考查段末句或文末句。2021年高考甲卷和新高考段首1 处；段中4处，没有考查段尾。

5. 选项排列：除2012和2013年其选项是由长到短依次排列外，其余年份，其选项均是由短到长依次排列，没有出现排列参差不齐的情况。

“七选五”解题步骤

首先浏览全文。利用主题段和没有挖句的段首句，明白文章主要内容。

第二步，在弄懂文章结构的基础上，明白各段落之间的关系。

第三步，也是做题最重要的一步，精读每段，务必明白每个段落内部结构和句子之间的逻辑关系。然后即可开始答题。

下面，我们来实际操练一个原创的“七选五”试题。

【语篇解读】

   本文属于描述类说明文。介绍了马尔代夫(the Maldives)作为世界旅游胜地的相关情况。

1. D【解析】考查上下文衔接。本空前面有“Malé is different from the other islands in the Maldives because it doesn’t have any beaches.”信息，说明本空应该继续谈有关Malé岛屿的情况。D项解释了Malé岛屿为什么没有海滩。故选D。

     本空容易误选G。因为G项中涉及到了Malé岛屿，但是该句在逻辑上不通顺。

2. B【解析】考查上下文衔接。本空前面有“Eighty-seven of the islands in the Maldives have different types of hotels on them.”信息，谈到有不同类型的旅馆；本空后面有“They can even stay in a Bangalore…”信息，谈到游客还可以住在Bangalore。由此说明，本空与游客有关系。故选B。

3. A【解析】考查段首句。本段主要在介绍马尔代夫交通工具Dhoni taxi，A项与交通有关系。故选A。

4. F【解析】考查上下文衔接。本空前后内容都在介绍Dhoni taxi的作用。由此本空应该接着谈Dhoni taxi的相关情况。故选F。

5. E【解析】考查上下文衔接。本空前面有“Also, the water is very clear.”信息，因此本空接着谈：由于水很清澈，在水下可以看到50多米远。故选E。
