Like a phenix (凤凰), sme stars may burst t life cvered in “ash,” rising frm the remains f stars that had previusly passed n.
Tw fireballs cvered in carbn and xygen, ashy byprducts f helium fusin (氦聚变),belng t a new class f stars, researchers reprt in the March Mnthly Ntices. Thugh these burning bjects are nt the first stars fund cvered in carbn and xygen, they are the first discvered t have helium-burning cres.
“That merger(并合) tells yu the star must have evlved differently," says study authr Nicle Reindl.
The stars may have frmed frm the merger f tw white dwarfs(白矮星), the remaining hearts f stars that exhausted their fuel, Reindl further explains. One f the tw was rich in helium, while the ther cntained lts f carbn and xygen. These tw white dwarfs had already been rbiting ne anther, but gradually drew tgether. Eventually the helium-rich white dwarf “ate" its partner, leaving carbn and xygen all ver its surface, just as a messy child might get fd all ver their face.
Such a merger wuld have prduced a star cvered in carbn and xygen t burn nuclear fusin in its cre again, says Tiara Battich, a German astrphysicist.
T test this idea, Battich cpied the evlutin, death and eventual merger f tw stars n his cmputer and simulated(模拟) the prcess. He fund that putting tgether a carbn-and-xygen-rich white dwarf and a mre massive helium ne culd explain the cmpsitins f the tw stars bserved by Reindl and her clleagues.
“But this shuld happen very rarely,”Battich says. In mst cases the ppsite shuld ccur, because carbn-xygen white dwarfs are usually the mre massive nes. Fr the rarer case t ccur,
tw stars slightly mre massive than the sun must have frmed at just the right distance and the right time.
The rigins stry Battich prpses demands a very specific and unusual set f circumstances, says Simn Bluin, a Canadian astrphysicist. "But in the end, it makes sense."
    28. What’s the newest discvery f the merger f tw stars?
    A. It prduces a mass f helium ash.
    B. It pssesses a helium-burning cre.
    C. It is cvered in carbn and xygen.
    D. It makes an xygen atmsphere fr life.
29.Hw did Battich prve his assumptin f the merger?
    A. By c-wrking with Rcindl's team.
    B. By making astrnmic bservatins.
    C. By building mdels n his cmputer.
    D. By testing the tw stars' cmpsitins.
    30. The underlined phrase "the ppsite" means _______.
    A. the carbn-xygen white dwarf "ate" the helium ne
    B. the helium white dwarf "ate" the carbn-xygen ne
    C. helium white dwarfs are usually the mre massive nes
    D. carbn-xygen white dwarfs are usually the mre massive nes
31.What's the main idea f the text?
    A. The frmatin f stars makes sense.
    B. The burning f stars brings them t life.
    C. Stars inspire scientists t reflect n the universe.
    D. Star mergers can unfld in mre than ne way.

It is lunchtime. At a lng table inside a restaurant, sme yung peple sit tgether ver lunch. There is less cnversatin than yu might expect frm a typical grup f friends: a by seems t talk nly t himself, and a girl lks anxius.
These yung peple met thrugh a prgram rganized by the nnprfit Actinplay, where yung peple with autism(自闭症) wrk tgether t write and stage a musical. Each Sunday, they wrk and have lunch tgether. Fr decades, scientists have suppsed peple with autism dn't have r need friends. A new research is frcing a rethink f thse lng-held beliefs. Autistic peple reprt they want friends. One significant barrier t friendships is cmmn peple's pinin that autistic peple are nt interested in cnnecting with them. Appearing uninterested, hwever, is nt always the same as being uninterested. An autistic child lking uninterested in games may in fact be vercme by the nise. And behavirs like clapping hands repeatedly are a way t manage their anxiety and uncertainty, nt a sign f their lw scial interest.
Fr sme autistic peple, friendships develp thrugh experimental prgrams. In a prgram Lerner develped, participants play a game called Gibberish. where teenagers must interpret each
ther's intentins withut using real language. The pint is nt t get it right. but t attend t what the ther persn is ding in a way that creates pprtunities t cnnect.
Lerner's ideas were inspired by a mment 16 years ag after he established a small camp fr
children with autism called Sptlight. On the secnd day an l1-year-ld by ran up and pulled his clthes. "Lerner, Lerner, where did yu find these kids?”
“All ver the place,” Lerner answered. "Everyne wants t cme t camp, just like yu."
“This is the first nrmal grup f kids I have cvcr met."the by said.
    32.The scene in paragraph 1 is described t _________.
    A. reveal the lack f an interpersnal cnversatin
    B. prve the difficulty in reducing teenage anxiety
    C. stress the great necessity f frming friendships
    D. shw the different behavir f a particular grup
    33. What is Actinplay aimed at?
    A. Curing yung peple f autism.
    B. Develping autistic peple's taste in art.
    C. Offering autistic peple a scial platfrm.
    D. Imprving yung peple's family relatinship.
34.What can we infer frm paragraph 3?
    A. Autistic peple have n intentin t make friends.
    B. Nise sets barriers t autistic peple's views n games.
    C. Repetitive mvements make autistic peple feel secure.
    D. Cmmn beliefs cause autistic peple's lw scial interest.
35.What des the underlined sentence imply?
    A. He feels at case with his autistic fellws.
    B. He n lnger regards himself as an autistic kid.
    C. Lerner's guidance helps him get ut f autism.

I clearly remembered it was my 40th birthday. On that day, my sixth-grade students were seated in a large circle, each hlding a different tl in their hand—a hammer, a flashlight, a screwdriver, etc. The students discussed hw wrds are like tls—they have the ability t build r t destry, and they discvered hw the right tl used at the right time fr the right jb can bring abut great results. They freely shared persnal stries f hw they had experienced smene’s wrds used as a tl, t wund r t heal.
I watched and listened with a sense f satisfactin—the students were engaged, attentive, and enjying the lessn. They gt it! It was ne f thse times when I sat back and enjyed the magic f being a teacher—t have the pprtunity t watch yung peple discver a greater truth abut life abut each ther, and abut themselves. There was n better gift than that.
As we neared the end f that schl day, ne f my students, Laura, had an unexpected utburst f defiance(违抗) in class. Busy scribbling (涂画) in her exercise bk, she refused t wrk with her grup.
