People with a type B personality are often described as easy-going, relaxed, and highly flexible. The type B personality is basically the opposite of the type A.The type A and type B types were first introduced during the 1950s by cardiologists (心脏病专家) Rosenman and Friedman who were interested in how an individuals personality might serve as a predictor for heart disease later on in life. As researchers continued to explore this linkthey noted that certain groups personality traits(特点) seemed to have a link to specific physical illnesses.People with type A personality traits such as aggression and competitiveness were found to have a greater risk of developing high blood pressure and heart disease. People with Type B personalities, on the other hand, had a lower risk of heart problems. So what exactly distinguished this type of personality? The type B personality lacks the behavior typically seen in the A type. The type B personality is characterized by a set of traits that include flexibility, low stress levels, relaxed attitude, patience, creativity. It is important to remember that everyone tends to experience the above traits to some degree from time to time. People with the type B personality, however, exhibit these traits more often. Knowing your type can help you better understand your tendencies, including your potential strengths and weaknesses. Some have suggested that since type A behavior is more connected to heart problems, there might be some benefit to helping people adopt more of a type B approach. However, as some researchers point out, doing so could also lead to negative outcomes. If an ambitious driven workaholic(工作狂) stopped displaying typical type A behavior, it could lead to reduced productivity, decreased job functionand even loss of income. These effects could then negatively impact health by increasing stress levels.11. What are people with a type B personality like?A. Flexible, ambitious and patient.B. Flexible, patient and creative.   C. Stressed and hard-driving.   D. Outgoing, hard-driving and creative.12. Why did the cardiologists put forward two types of traits?   A. They wanted to understand people's potential strengths and weaknesses.  B. They thought these two types could lead to different physical illnesses.   C. They wanted to find out how people 's personalities affect their health..   D. They thought these two types play different roles in developing high blood pressure.13. What will happen if type A people adopt a type B approach, according to the text?   A. They might be more creative.   B. They could gain a lot of benefits.   C. They might suffer from poor work efficiency.   D. Their health condition could be greatly improved.BHungarian Jewish activist Rezso Kasztner, a brilliant, self-confident lawyer and journalist was directly responsible for liberating 1, 684 Jews on a train to Switzerland.    Struggling to save the Hungarian Jewsby the war ended, he had preserved some 100000 more lives by bargaining (讨价还价) with the Nazisincluding Adolf Eichman and Kurt Becher among other officers. He did this by making use of the Nazi weaknesses of greed and need blood for goods. Kasztner offered moneyjewelry and the promise of war materiel(物资) that he knew could never be delivered in exchange for Jewish lives. He and the other activists were able to save only a small number of their people, as nearly half a million Hungarians.    Jews were sent to Auschwitz to be killed in just few months. The selection of those who were saved, especially on the train, had bothered Kasztner ever since. After the war, Kasztner and his family emigrated to Israel, where he expected to be  welcomed as a hero. Instead, they found tension between settlers and refugees (难民), and because Kasztner had to pretend to make friends with Nasis, he was attacked as a Nazi collaborator(勾结). When he charged one of his accusers (a man who was jealous (嫉妒) of him back in Hungary) with libel(谤罪)the judge ruled against him because of the struggle for power between the political parties in Israel. The real Rezso Kasztner was an extraordinary man who played a high-risk game with the devil. And he won in the only game of saving human lives. He achieved more in his way than any other individual in Nazi-occupied Europe. In the end all he lost was his own life…14. What is the passage mainly about?A. A mans heroic deeds in saving Hungarian JewsB. The crimes committed by the NazisC. The darkness of Nazi-occupied EuropeD. Peoples different views about heroesCYou probably have a rough idea of how much energy and water your home uses based on your utility bills (物业账单). But new technologies aim to turn the tables, letting you see just how much you are using in advance of those bills so that your bottom line is lower. And that goes for everything from everyday appliances to your sprinkler (喷水器) system. There are a variety of in-home technology products that will save homeowners money on their utility bills and help the environment at the same time. These technologies aim to help conserve resources, and potentially save you hundreds to thousands of dollars. The idea for Flo Technologies’ products was inspired by a disaster. Company CEO Gabriel Halimi's family had terrible water damage to their home which resulted in a US$300000 insurance claim (保险索赔).Halimi's father, an engineer, was inspired to put forward a solution. The result is the company’s water monitoring and control technology for the home. The technology is installed on the home's main water supply. It works by tracking the flow, temperature and pressure of your homes water system. Some insurance plans will give you a discount for using the technology, Halimi said. It also shows you in real time via an app how much water you're using. If your water usage requires attention, it can also send push notifications, text messages or emails. If you don't respond, it can call you by phone. The technology can turn off your water in severe situations. You can also turn it off yourself by pushing a button. The key to the technology is that it can help a homeowner save energy and water by reminding them of the problem that they might not know about, like a broken sprinkler or water pipe.“Unless you have something like this, you have no way of knowing that you have something wrong with your home, Halimi said.18. What led to the invention of Flo Technologies products?A. A bill      B. A disaster     C. A sprinkler      D. An app19. The underlined word "install" in the fifth paragraph most probably means____.A. to fix equipment or furniture into position so that it can be usedB. to give somebody a test to see how much he knows about a subjectC. to remove things from a vehicle or ship after it has taken them somewhereD. to put a large quantity of things or people onto or into something20. What can we know from the passage?A. There is only one technology product that helps homeowners save money.B. Halimi designed company’s water monitoring technology for the home.C. Flo Technologies’ products can remind people of the unknown problems. 第二节 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)  Pancake racingOn Shrove Tuesday(基督教的忏悔星期二)---many people like to call it Pancake Daypeople across the UK make and eat pancakes.    Pancakes in the UKPancakes in the UK are large and thin and can be topped with different ingredients.
