He also heard the woman tell the cashier that her daughter had recently died.
Evans, a businessman who had just buried his father, couldn't stomach the idea of this woman losing her home right after losing her child. He approached the window. As the coronavirus disease(冠状病毒)takes hold and causes lockdowns(禁闭)in major urban centers, researchers studying air pollution data are recording significant improvements in air quality levels. The change is so huge that some believe these short-term reductions could end up saving many more lives than those who are lost to the virus itself.
"These are quite great times," Francois Gemenne, director of The Hugo Observatory, an environmental research center, said during an appearance on France 24's The Debate. "What surprises me most is that the measures that we are ready to take to face this coronavirus are much more severer than the measures we would be ready to take to face climate change or air pollution."
According to the World Health Organization(WHO), around 91% of the world's population live in places where air quality levels are beyond acceptable limits. Globally, this results in nearly 4. 2 million deaths annually, according to 2016 statistics.
Recent data from the European Space Agency's(ESA)Copernicus Sentinel-5P satellite have shown a marked reduction over Italy in the amount of nitrogen dioxide(二氧化氮), a gas produced from road traffic and other processes. during the country's nationwide lockdown.
"Although there could be slight variations in the data due to cloud cover and changing weather, we are very confident about the improvement of air quality because of less traffic and industrial activities," said Josef Aschbacher, ESA's Director of Earth Observation Programmes.
People living in Venice have noticed how much clearer the water has become now that the city is in lockdown. Fishes have been seen in the canals, which is unusual for waters normally full of mud caused by so much canal traffic, reports CNN. In some cities, animals are cautiously exploring new areas, especially in urban areas.
28. What can we learn from what Francois said?
A. Air pollution is not serious as we imagine.
B. We will meet with huge change of climate.
C. Dealing with the coronavirus will be very tough.
D. What we do to beat the coronavirus is surprising.
29. What do the data in paragraph 3 mainly indicate?
A. There is little air pollution in the world. B. Air pollution is very severe globally.
C. Most people will die from air pollution. D. The earth is too terrible for people to live on.
30. What does the last paragraph want to tell us?
A. Traffic jam will not be seen from now on.
B. We have solved the problem of water pollution.
C. The environment has improved due to the lockdown.
D. Staying at home is the only way to beat the coronavirus.
31. Where is this text most likely from?
A. A textbook. B. A guidebook. C. A novel. D. A newspaper.

Jigsaw puzzles(拼图游戏)aren't just fun. They can also make you feel less anxious, especially when you put them well together.
While out shopping for Christmas presents, I bought myself a jigsaw puzzle. It was an unusual buy, one that I now recognize as an attempt at dealing with that particular stress many of us experience during the holidays. Don't get me wrong-I love seeing my wife and family. But holiday get-togethers have a way of putting any personal shortcomings at center stage.
Robyn Breen, a dance instructor knows the feeling. Breen suffered from anxiety and she turned to puzzles. It worked, and jigsaws have since become a necessary part of her daily routine. "I thought, Whoa, I feel really good when I'm doing this," she says.
Susan Vandermorris is a clinical neuropsychologist and a global leader in brain health. Any type of puzzle is good for the brain and points to the stress-relieving benefits of jigsaws, in particular, she says. "If you're doing a puzzle, you are, free from the interruptions and stresses of day-to-day life," she explains.
Vandermorris believes that doing puzzles with others has even more health benefits than doing them on your own, adding that it provides a rare opportunity for intergenerational engagement(参与). "Get the teenagers off their smart phones and working on a puzzle with Grandma, and suddenly you've got a really nice family interaction that seems to be harder and harder to come by these days," she adds.
The 23-year-old Jack from Marshfield, Massachusetts, has autism(自闭症)and first took to puzzles as a kid because they "gave him a break from the demands of socializing", says his mother. As Jack grew, so did his puzzling talent and its benefits. In 2014, while still in high school, he completed a 32, 256-piece puzzle(then the largest in the world). "When I completed my first huge puzzle, I invited friends and family to share my achievement," he says.

How to Encourage a Teenager to Take up a Hobby
Having a hobby can greatly enrich a teenager's life. Hobbies can increase physical activity and social interaction, provide stress relief and teach valuable skills. 36 Even so, you can use some gentle guidance to help your teens to explore their interests and find their perfect hobbies.
You can ask your teens what makes them feel good about themselves. One way to help a teenager find a hobby is to focus on their strengths and what makes them feel good. Many teens may only focus on weaknesses or things they have failed at. 37
You can determine if your teens already participate in hobbies. Teenagers spend much of their life away from the eyes of parents and don't always offer up information. 38 Your children may be developing hobbies away from home, so you may not have to encourage them to adopt new ones. Instead, you can support their current hobbies.
39 After brainstorming(头脑风暴), have your teens write down a list of interests they would like to pursue or be curious about. Then, have the teens rank the interests on a scale from 1 to 10, with I being most likely to try and 10 being least likely.
You can analyze the teens' personality. 40 Think about your teens. What are their character traits(特点)? What things do they get in trouble for doing? What do they gravitate towards? The answers to these questions can help them come up with ideas.
A. You can have the teens make an interest list.
B. However, many teens are unwilling to try a hobby.
C. Because their parents force them to do what they hate.
D. You can search for opportunities you think your teens might like.
E. A person's personality can help them figure out hobbies or interests.
F. So what you should do is to pay attention to what they enjoy doing.
G. As a result, sometimes adults are not entirely aware that teenagers are developing hobbies.
