If you ask Jeff Shea who is from California where he is going or where he has been to, you better get a drink, sit back in your favourite chair and fresh yourself up to hear a long story.
The sixty-year-old adventurer (探险家) Shea has walked across Africa, Europe, America, Asia and other continents. In his spare time, he has also climbed the highest mountains all over the world. When he climbed Mount Qomolangma which is in China, he did not take the traditional ‘easy route (路线)’—the southern side of the Himalaya Mountains from India and Nepal, but the most dangerous northern side from Xizang, China.
Shea travels in his own way, seldom moving directly from Point A to Point B or just following anyone else’s route. Travel clubs for country collectors, divide (划分) the world up into 325, 875 and 1281 parts, but Shea has his own idea. He divides the world into 3978 parts. He has visited 2,330 of them and decided to complete the rest of them before his travelling days are over.
Shea’s love for traveling, however, isn’t about these numbers, life goals or risks (风险). For him, travel is like a holy activity, one that makes the mind and one’s horizons larger. In 2012, he founded (组建) an organization called World Parks in order to achieve what some people would view as a quixotic (狂想的) goal: making world leaders protect wild places as ‘world’ parks rather than ‘national’ parks. He is nothing if he is not ambitious (野心勃勃的). “My goal is to change the world,” he said.

the wild places.

D. Jeff Shea did not climb so many high peaks for the numbers, life goals and risks.
( )57. This article suggests that .
A. only the world leaders can do something to change the world
B. we should climb as many high mountains as we can before our travelling
days are over
C. World Parks, an organization founded by Jeff Shea is a club for climbing mountains
D. every one of us should do something to make the world better for humans
and animals

Zhang dingyu, the director of Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital, leads over 600 doctors and nurses fighting against the Novel coronavirus pneumonia(新型冠状病毒肺炎), which has caused hundreds of deaths in central China’s Hubei Province.
As Zhang led over 600 doctors and nurses fighting the disease, his strange way of walking shocked his colleagues. He finally admitted that he had fallen ill with ALS (渐冻症) since October 2018 after constant researches. ALS is a disease that gradually blocks the connection between brain and body. People with ALS become partially paralyzed (瘫痪的) leading to respiratory(呼吸系统的)failure.
While working with handicapped(瘸的)legs, his wife was confirmed to get infected with the virus after working in another hospital. The bad news brought him to his knees, and he cried for the first time after the virus broke out. Zhang could only find time to visit his wife until three days after she got admitted to the hospital. Even then he could only stay for 30minutes. Fortunately, the good news came that his wife had recovered ten days after treatment.
Zhang, 57, has offered medical services along with Chinese medical teams to Algeria and Pakistan. Three days after the earthquake hit central Sichuan Province in 2008, Zhang entered the city with his medical team members to offer help.
“Life is always short. I need to do more to finish the things that I might leave behind, then I would leave without too many regrets,” Zhang said. “We are at the center of a storm, so we need to give all we have to protect our city, and our Wuhan people,” Zhang said.

You may charge(充电) your phone every day, but do you clean your phone as much? Whatever your hands touch, your phones touch. It has been discovered that some phones have 18 times more bacteria and viruses (细菌病毒) than any surface in a public restroom. So it won’t surprise you that a 2011 University of London study found that one in six of our phones have bacteria and viruses on them.
The research on bacteria and viruses led to the invention of PhoneSoap. It is not actually liquid (液体). It is a phone charger that uses the electromagnetic radiation (辐射) to kill 99.9 percent of bacteria and viruses, cleaning your phone while it charges.
“Certain types of bacteria and viruses are really on our phones,” says Wes Barnes, the PhoneSoap founder. “It would be the fastest, most powerful way to kill them.”
PhoneSoap looks like a little metal suitcase. Your phone rests to charge and get cleaned at the same time. Instead of plugging your phone into the wall, you’d plug it into the PhoneSoap charger box. The process only takes a few minutes but, Barnes says, “The idea is that you can leave it in there overnight if you want to keep charging. And it cleans the phone fully.”
The founder found the right companies and then started shipping the product in late November. By last week’s International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, PhoneSoap was very popular with people. The founder has left his present job and is selling PhoneSoap without a stop. “We sell out PhoneSoap every day, and we will try to provide enough PhoneSoap” Barnes says. “It’s been a great challenge.”
( )62. We can learn from the first paragraph that ___________.
A. phones can be very dirty B. phones are where bacteria are born
C. most phones are attacked by bacteria D. phones store more bacteria in a restroom
( )63. According to the passage, PhoneSoap ___________.
A. takes a whole night to kill bacteria B. deals with bacteria with radiation
C. is a kind of liquid D. has to be plugged into the wall to work
( )64. From the last paragraph, we can infer that ___________.
A. PhoneSoap is in great need now
B. PhoneSoap is really hard to use
C. they won’t produce enough PhoneSoap
D. they’ll make improvements to PhoneSoap
( )65. What’s the passage mainly about?
A. Methods of cleaning phones.
B. Tips on charging phones quickly.
C. Soap killing harmful bacteria on phones.
D. A phone charger keeping your phone clean.

At the age of six, he told his mother he wanted to get down from the prosthetics(假肢)and play with other kids. This was the last time Jason had worn them. He now has an electric wheelchair(轮椅), but he never uses it at home or when it is easy for him to move using only his body.

Dear Amy,

During the winter holiday, my parents and I paid a visit to Yangzhou/travelled to Yangzhou. It took us two and a half hours to get there by coach/take a coach there.
There are lots of places of interest to visit in Yangzhou, especially Chinese gardens. The next day, we visited Ge Garden and He Garden. In the gardens, we couldn’t stop taking photos when we enjoyed the beautiful views. Moreover, we learned a lot about the history of the gardens by listening to the tour guide. On the third day, we went to Slender West Lake. We rowed boats on the lake and took a lot of photos there. On the fourth day, we visited museums and did some shopping. I bought a lot of presents for my friends and relatives. Later in the afternoon, we tasted some delicious food in the restaurants./we went to a Chinese restaurant and had a delicious meal. The food there is really nice.
We had a fantastic time in Yangzhou. I enjoyed this trip very much. I hope to visit it again some day.
Hope to see you soon.
Yours,
Tom
