牛津版英语八年级上册《Unit 2 Numbers》全英教学设计课题名Lesson 2 - Grammar and reading教学目标- Ss learn cardinal numbers and ordinal numbers.- Ss learn how to read and write these two types of numbers. Ss will learn to spell and speak correctly. - Ss practice to use them in different scenarios.教学重点- Teach the difference between Cardinal numbers and ordinal numbers.- Pay attention to the spelling exceptions.- Understand how to use them in different scenarios.教学难点- How to read different numbers correctly. -How to use them.教学准备- print out the flash cards on PPT Page 37-38.- PPT教学过程Warm up game(3-5 mins)Play a warm up game on PPT P 4-10. Students say the missing number on the page. T ask “ What (number) is missing.” Cardinal Numbers (15 - 20 mins)Definition and detail. In PPT P12, count with students to make sure they aware the spelling exceptions. (fourteen/ forty; fifteen, fifty )B. Learn how to read cardinal numbers (PPT 12-16) In PPT P13, Teach students how to read 3 digits numbers. In PPT P14-15, Teach students how to read numbers larger then a thousand. In PPT P 16. Students learn how to read decimal. Practice how and when to use cardinal numbers (PPT 17-27)Use cardinal numbers to express “year”. PPT 17 -18 Use cardinal numbers to express “price, population, and measurements”. T can use the game on PPT 19- 23 to practice them. Students guess the exact price or exact number based on the hint. Whose number is the closest to the exact number, then, he/she is the winner. Practice to use cardinal numbers by doing math.
Teach students basic words and expressions about calculation.
On PPT 24, Ss will learn about adding. Learn to use expression : “add A and B” and “A plus B equals C”
On PPT 25, Ss will learn about subtraction. Learn to use expression : “subtract A from B” and “A minus B equals C”
On PPT 26, Ss will learn about multiplication. Learn to use expression : “multiply A by B” and “A multiplied by B equals C”
On PPT 26, Ss will learn about division. Learn to use expression : “divide A by B” and “A divided by B equals C” T can use the equation on the right of the page to practice speaking. Ss pair up to ask and answer questions based on examples. Ordinal numbers (15 - 20 mins)
A. Definition and detailHow to write and read ordinal numbers. And learn basic rules.Highlight writing/spelling exceptions (first, second, third | twelfth)Learn large ordinal numbers. Practice how and when to use ordinal numbersUse ordinal numbers to tell the position. We can us the PPT 31 to practice the reading and learn how to use them. Emphasis that we should use “the” before the ordinal numbers.Use ordinal numbers to say floors. In British English, the 1st floor is not the ground floor. Use the picture on the PPT to help students understand. And pair up to find out which floor your friends lives on.Use ordinal numbers to say fractions. Use the PPT (P33-36) to explain the rule.
- Use cardinal number for numerator and ordinal number for denominator .- 1/2 is special, we say one half/ a half. - One fourth also can say one quarter- If the numerator is larger than 1, the denominator should add “s”. Practice fraction by using flash card game. T distributes flash card to students. The first student say the picture then ask question at the bottom of the card. For example, if a student got the first flash card, he/she should say :”I have three sevenths. Who has one third. ” Then the other students should look at their own card. The student who holds the card with a circle indicates “one third” , then he/she should stand up and say “I have the one third. Who has the .... (based on the flash card)”Use ordinal numbers to express date. Ss should aware that we could not read what we see. There are two ways to say date. After T models how to say. Students pair up and practice with friends to find out their birthday. Summary(5 mins)We learned two different types of numbers: Cardinal number and Ordinal number.Cardinal numbers can be used in counting, doing math. And we practiced to use cardinal numbers in different scenarios, which include expressing years, pricing and calculating.3. Ordinal numbers indicate the order. And we practiced to use cardinal numbers to express position, fraction and date. 板书设计- Teacher can make your own flash cards and stick on the board to play games with students. - Teacher can make flash cards to show students floor, fractions. - Teacher can make animal flash cards to play your own game to practice position. 课后作业Review and practice as much as possible.Use them in your daily life.教学反思 Number is easy for Junior students. But its hard for them to remember and hard for them to know how to use. Practice in class is important. During the practice, students should be able to visualize the word, and be able to say them and gradually improve their fluency.
