Language is a medium that binds all human beings．It is the unique frm，which has been explited and used t the maximum by us．But smewhere dwn the line，we used it nly fr the purpse f cmmunicatin and nt fr enriching ur knwledge and t increase ur market value．
The first study t cmpare hnesty acrss a range f cmmunicatin media has fund that peple are twice as likely t tell lies in phne cnversatins as they are in emails．
Jeff Hancck asked 30 students t keep a cmmunicatin diary fr a week．In it they nted the number f cnversatins r email exchanges mre than 10 minutes，and cnfessed hw many lies they tld．Hancck then wrked ut the number f lies per cnversatin fr each medium．He fund that lies made up 14 percent f emails，21 percent f instant messages，27 percent f facetface interactins and an astnishing 37 percent f phne calls．
His results t be presented at the cnference n humancmputer interactin in Vienna，Austria，in April，have surprised psychlgists．Sme expected emailers t be the biggest liars，reasning that because deceptin makes peple uncmfrtable，the detachment(非直接接触)f emailing wuld make it easier t lie．Others expected peple t lie mre in facetface exchanges because we are mst practised at that frm f cmmunicatin．
But Hancck says it is als crucial whether a cnversatin is being recrded and culd be reread，and whether it ccurs in real time．Peple appear t be afraid t lie when they knw the cmmunicatin culd later be used t hld them t accunt，he says．This is why fewer lies appear in email than n the phne．
