March, April and May are months full of festivals and events all over the world. Here are four wonderful festivals around the world that happen in spring. If you want to know more about them, please click here or visit http://www.buddhanet.net/
SongKran----Thailand
Dates: 13th-15th, April
In Thailand, people celebrate a festival called SongKran, when people head out to the streets with water guns to spray everyone who walks past.
Naghol----Vanuatu
Dates: Every Saturday from April to May
Every year, villagers come together to celebrate the harvest of yams, an important part in the people's diet in Vanuatu. The festival is most famous for its "land diving ceremony". During the ceremony men and boys dive to the ground from high wooden towers with only two thin vines(藤) attached to their ankles.
Cherry Blossom Viewing----Japan
Dates: The cherry blossom season is different from year to year depending on the weather forecast.
The festival is well-known. Japanese celebrate the days when the flowers finally blossom. Only a few days later, the petals(花瓣) fall to the ground, like pink snowflakes. That means the traditional festival only lasts for several days. In Japan, almost everyone has picnics in the parks to view the flowers.
Sinhalese New Year----Sri Lanka
Dates: 13th or 14th, April
Just like in many other countries in South or South East Asia, this is the time when the Sinhalese celebrate the traditional New Year, an ancient celebration which marks the end of the harvest season and is one of two times of the year when the sun is straight above Sri Lanka. There are a lot of delicious foods during the celebration.
21.What may happen to a tourist walking in the street during SongKran in Thailand?
A.He may get wet. B.He may be shot by the locals.
C.He may enjoy delicious foods. D.He may see some petals falling.
22.How is Cherry Blossom Viewing different from the other three festivals?
A.It is a traditional festival.
B.It is a very famous festival.
C.It varies with weather conditions every year.
D.It allows visitors to eat food during the festival.
23.Where are you most likely to find the text?
A.In a textbook. B.In a report.
C.On the Internet. D.In a newspaper.

Voters in Colorado narrowly approved an initiative (计划), setting the stage for the return of gray wolves, which were wiped out in this area by the 1940s. This is the first time that a state has reintroduced an animal like this.
The Colorado Parks and Wildlife department will lead the effort to establish a sustainable population of gray wolves in the western part of the state, beginning in 2022 or 2023. The Southern Rocky Mountains, where there used to be a lot of them, contain millions of acres of suitable habitat that could support several hundred wolves or more, biologists say.
However, some say it’s unwise to leave the question to voters. “State biologists have previously declined to introduce wolves. There's a reason it's never been done before.” says Shawn Martini, spokesperson for Coloradans for Protecting Wildlife, noting that most supporters are from urban areas and they don't have to live alongside the animal, unlike people living in the countryside. Farmers and hunters don't favor the initiative, either. Farmers worry wolves will kill their cattle while hunters worry they will lose elk (驼鹿) to the predators.
On the other hand, according to Jonathan Proctor, a conservationist with the Defenders of Wildlife, reintroducing wolves will restore Colorado's natural balance. They help thin out sick animals, maintaining healthy populations of deer and elk. The remains of wolf kills also provide food for “eaters of the dead”, including wolverines, eagles, and bears. He also emphasizes the experience of living with wolves in other places, like the Northern Rockies, has shown that wolves are not the threat people sometimes make them out to be. Reintroduction program biologists promise to make it a priority to work with people living alongside wolves, providing training and resources to keep the wolves out of the farms in the first place. And a program will be funded to pay farmers for their lost cattle.
24.What can we learn about the Southern Rocky Mountains from the text?
A.They are heavily populated. B.They were inhabited by wolves.
C.They are in the east of Colorado. D.They are home to small animals.
25.What's Shawn Martini's opinion about the return of the gray wolves?
A.It's unfair to make it happen by voting.
B.It's welcomed by urban and rural people.
C.State biologists shouldn't have opposed it.
D.The wolves should be put somewhere else.
26.What will the program biologists probably do first?
A.Buy more cattle. B.Reach out to the locals.
C.Relocate the wolves. D.Clear the site for wolves.
27.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Wolves are Coming Home. B.No Worries about Wolves.
C.Always Vote for What is Right. D.Wolves Help Local Ecosystem.

The first set of Chinese stories presented in English scripts (剧本), titled Stories of China: Performed in English, was officially published by Foreign Languages Press. Planned by the New Channel International Education Group with the participation of playwrights from China, the United Kingdom and the United States, the book provides a new way for young people to learn English while inheriting (传承) and spreading Chinese culture.

All the scripts in the book are written by top playwrights with elegant, pure and vivid language. The scripts are provided with a summary of the story in both Chinese and English, so that readers can fully understand the plot as well as the history and culture behind it. Readers can not only improve their English skills through immersive (沉浸式) reading and performance but also appreciate Chinese culture.
Hu Min, English education expert and founder of the New Channel, said the combination of traditional culture and English teaching has become a trend, guiding young people to bring their own wisdom and deep cultural heritage to tell Chinese stories to the world. Since time immemorial, people have been searching for the fountain of youth. Surprisingly, the dream of human immortality is, according to some scientists, not so far out of reach.
Professor Brian Cox, Google's Ray Kurzweil, and Tesla head Elon Musk all agree on not only the possibility of human immortality but also that it is not too far away. The solution, they say, is something called the “technological singularity”.
The singularity is a combination of humankind with computers, namely uploading the contents of one's brain onto a hard drive. In that way, a person's consciousness can stay alive after a physical body gets worse. This is based on the idea that a human brain is simply a machine, and there is, according to Professor Cox, “no reason at all why we cannot simulate (模拟) human intelligence,” using a computer.
Although Professor Cox did not say when the singularity would occur, Google's Ray Kurzweil predicts that the singularity will happen as early as 2045. By 2100, he says, human body parts will be replaceable by machine parts. Further, by uploading our brains onto a computer, we will be able to toy with it, and become “able to expand the scope(范围)of our intelligence a billion fold. ”
Elon Musk agreed with the asessments of the other scientists, even going so far as saying that the chances that we are not in a computer simulation right now are “one in billions” .
Google is preparing for a future where you can download personalities onto robots. For example, you might be able to download onto your robot a celebrity personality, or the personality of your deceased grandmother.
The search engine giant filed a patent for this download process recently. So they definitely believe that the singularity is just around the corner. All you have to do is hold on until 2045, and soon you can effectively live in the cloud.
32.What does the underlined word “immortality” in paragraph 1 probably mean?
A.Living forever. B.Rebirth after death.
C.Being perfect. D.Continuous improvement.
33.How did the writer illustrate the idea of human immortality in the text?
A.By giving examples. B.By presenting quotations.
C.By logically reasoning. D.By making a description.
34.Which of the following can Elon Musk most probably agree with?
A.Computers are much smarter than humankind.
B.Computers can never surpass humankind at all.
C.Computers and humankind are quite different.
D.Computers can be another version of humankind.
35.How can humankind improve by 2100 according to the text?
A.Physically and intelligently. B.Individually and corporately.
C.Psychologically and spiritually. D.Emotionally and materially.

I'll do it tomorrow,I swear!
Procrastination is the thief of time and a lot of students suffer from it. 36 However, they only stare into space, eat snacks, surf the Internet, watch videos and look at their pretty peers sitting around them who, most likely, are doing nothing either.
According to a recent report by the BBC,95 percent of us procrastinate at some point and 20percent of the world's population are chronic procrastinators, complicating their lives with their constant delaying of tasks. The figures are discouraging. 37 Just look at Hamlet, who is perhaps the world's most famous procrastinator. He is also a university student, and his indecision leads to tragedy(悲剧)in the biggest way.
Procrastinators like to find excuses to justify their behavior, but BBC columnist Rowan Pelling says they are all wrong. 38 Pelling says this is nonsense,as work done at the last minute is more likely to have mistakes than work done on time. She says the behavior of procrastinators often makes them feel nervous and ashamed, inconveniences others, and annoys loved ones.Pelling also points out that procrastination feels particularly delinquent(不良倾向的)in a society that views swift action as praiseworthy, and,at times, even as morally good.
39 Piers Steel,a Canadian social scientist and author of The Procrastination Equation, believes humankind is"designed"to procrastinate.Nevertheless,he suggests a couple of good ways to get through the task at hand. 40 Break the task down into small pieces and work your way through them methodically. The second is ingenious:Give a trusted friend a sum of money and tell them that if you don't complete the task you have undertaken by a specific time, they can keep it or donate it to a cause you hate.
A.The first one is obvious.
B.But this does nothing to break the spell.
C.They could spend whole days in the library doing nothing useful.
D.Procrastinators are less wealthy, less healthy and less happy than those who don't delay.
E.Many procrastinators tell themselves they are perfectionists who work best under pressure.
F.Fortunately, social scientists have made efforts to understand this behavioral weakness and offer strategies to control it.
G.Paralyzed by their habit to procrastinate, they write micro blogs about their fears, asking their online friends if they sometimes have the same issue.

Dear Eric,
Thanks for lead me to some wonderful scenic spot in London.
To begin with, I appreciated the unique landscape of London what I had only seen on the Internet or on TV before. Of all the tourist attractions we visited about, the Big Ben and the British Museum left me the deep impression. More importantly, this trip helps me learn more about the connections between Chinese culture and British culture.
It was pity that we had only a day for our trip, which made me a little regret. How I wish you could have another trip soon. Thanks again but I' m looking forward to our next trip together.
Yours
Li Hua
