Whether you’re a boy or a girl and whether you’re a freshman or a senior, developing the following skills will help you achieve success in school and in life.
Time management. There are just 24 hours in each day. What you do with that time makes all the difference. While high school students have an average of 35 hours per week of class time, college students have an average of 15 to 18 hours per week.Manage your free time wisely and you’ll make full use of each day.
Good study habits. If you’ve got them,it’s great. If not, there’s still time to develop them.Good study habits include the following:
·Always be prepared for class, and attend classes regularly. No cutting!
·Finish homework in a timely manner.
·Review your notes daily rather than study for tests the night before.
·Set aside quiet time each day for study, even if you don’t have homework or a test the next day!
Good note-taking.You can’t possibly set down everything the teacher says since we talk at a pace of about 225 words per minute. But,you do need to set down the important materials.Note-taking should be in a way that’s the most helpful to you.You can try writing notes on different coloured cards. If you really have a problem with note-taking,you might ask your teacher if you can record daily lessons.Do whatever it takes!
Review of daily notes.Don’t wait until the night before the test to review your notes.Go over your notes each day while the lecture is still fresh in your mind.Add any missing pieces.Compare your notes with a classmate’s notes.Review your notes each day to improve your learning and build towards your final goal:mastery of the subject or skill.
21.If you want to form good study habits, you should .
A.get them as early as you can
B.study for tests the night before
C.set down all the teacher says
D.go over your notes every day
22.What is the main advantage of reviewing daily notes?
A.To help write down the important materials.
B.To solve some problems with note-taking timely.

As a teenager, I hated Physical Education lessons.I was not very good at sports, and I hated team sports because I always felt like I was disappointing the rest of the team. I was always making up excuses to get out of such lessons.
When I started university, I decided to try kung fu. To my surprise, I loved it! It was a friendly club, and in my first year most of us were beginners. I used to go two or three times a week to train. Because it is not a team sport, I didn't feel guilty (内疚的) about not being very good. And because it is a combat (格斗) sport, you train in pairs, which means that you get to meet people and talk to them. When I was doing kung fu, I got stronger and quicker. Unluckily, in the last year of university I was too busy to do kung fu most of the time.
When I moved to Italy this year I decided to start doing a combat sport again. I found a great local club that does mixed martial arts (综合格斗) and I love it. The club is more serious than the one at my university and we do lots of practice fights. It is very fun.

Then one day, some visitors from the city arrived. They told the villagers there were some people elsewhere who liked to eat frog’s legs. However, they did not have enough frogs of their own,and so they wanted to buy frogs from other places.
This seemed like money for nothing. There were millions of frogs in the fields around, and they were no use to the villagers. All they had to do was catch them.Agreement was reached, and the children were sent into the fields to catch frogs.Every week a truck arrived to collect the catch and hand over the money. For the first time, the people were able to dream of a better future. But the dream didn’t last long.
The change was hardly noticed at first, but it seemed as if the crops were not doing so well.More worrying was that the children fell ill more often, and, there seemed to be more insects around lately.
The villagers decided that they couldn’t just wait to see the crops failing and the children getting weak. They would have to use the money earned to buy pesticides(杀虫剂) and medicines.Soon there was no money left.
Then the people realized what was happening. It was the frog. They hadn’t been useless. They had been doing an important job—eating insects. Now with so many frogs killed, the insects were increasing more rapidly. They were damaging the crops and spreading diseases.

Communication Tips
Here are some suggestions about making your talk with your parents turn out for the best.
Be honest.
If you're always honest, your parents will be likely to believe what you say. If you sometimes hide the truth, parents will have a harder time to believe what you tell them. 36
Be brave and start talking.
It's easy to say “Hi, Mum” or “Dad, can you pass the potatoes?” 37 Let's face it. You will feel embarrassed (尴尬的)when talking about something personal, but your parents know you quite well. They were your age once, too! So don't let a little embarrassment stop you. It's OK to go ahead and share what's on your mind.
38
If you have a disagreement, can you consider things from your parents' points of view? If you can, telling your parents you understand their views and feelings helps them be willing to understand yours, too.
Try not to argue.
Using a friendly and respectful tone makes your parents more likely to listen to you and take what you say seriously. 39
What if it doesn't work? If you still can't talk to your parents, seek other adults' help. 40 Then follow all the tips above to make you communicate with that person well.
A.Explain your situation.
B.Try to understand them.
C.If you lie, they'll find it hard to trust you.
D.Parents are the most important people in your life.
E.But it can be harder to start talking about personal topics.
F.It also makes it more likely that they'll talk to you in the same way.
G.Find a relative or a teacher who will listen to, understand and care about you.

作文:
Dear Peter,
I’m sorry to hear that you have decided to leave home because of your conflict with your parents.
I think it’s unwise to make such a decision. Addicted to playing online games, you are not only wasting your valuable time but also hurting the feelings of your parents. Judging from your last letter, your parents are living a simple life to save every penny for your future. Therefore, wouldn’t it be reasonable for you to respect them, have a talk with them and apologize? Meanwhile, you should manage your time more wisely and find some meaningful ways to spend your free time, such as playing sports with your friends, learning a new language, etc.
I’m looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
