    The disease has caused prblems fr the mnkeys, t. They are hungry. The restrictins n turism mean fewer peple cme t see the mnkeys and feed them.“We need t make an effrt t make sure that they eat prperly. And when they eat prperly they will be calmer and will nt be aggressive,” said Bartn, 59, a lng-time Thailand resident. Bartn has played at fur sites in Lpburi, including at an ancient Hindu temple, a stre and an ld mvie theater.
    The macaques quickly surrund Bartn when he plays Greensleeves, Beethven’s Für Elise and Michael Nyman’s Diary f Lve. Sme f the creatures sit n his chair, while thers climb up his bdy and tuch his head. “A wnderful pprtunity t see the wild animals just being themselves,” said Bartn, frm Yrkshire in nrthern England.
    But, Bartn keeps his attentin n his perfrmance, even as a small mnkey runs ver his hands n the instrument. Other mnkeys take cntrl f his music papers.“I was surprised t play the pian and find that they were actually eating the music as I was playing it. But,” he added, “I wasn’t ging t let thse things distract frm the prject which is t play the music fr these wnderful macaques.”
    The mnkeys are Bartn’s latest animal fans. Past wildlife audiences included elephants living in special prtected areas. Bartn hpes t raise awareness f the mnkeys’ hunger. At the same time, he hpes t study their behavir as they react t classical music.
