    教学目标

    1. Students can master the key sentence patterns and introduce people's appearance and personality characteristics.

    -- Is he/she... Is he/she...  ?  -- Yes, he/she is or No, he/she isn't "

    -- What's he/she like?  - He/She is..."  . 

    1. Students can listen, speak, read and write the new words: old, young, funny, kind, strict.  
    2. Students can master the pronunciation rules of letter Y and spell the examples given in the textbook correctly.

    Students can master the key sentence and new words.

    Students can master the pronunciation rules of letter Y.

    教学准备

    Teacher preparation: multimedia courseware, textbook recordings

    Student Preparation: Pre-class preparation

    教学过程

    1.Lead in

      Review the characters in the textbook and introduce the new classmate Oliver. And let the students describe the characters.

     

    2.Presentation

    1Let’s try

    ①Look at three pictures in the textbook and find out the similarities and differences between them. The teacher helps the students to roughly determine the key words of each picture. For example, the key words of the first picture are basketball”and strong”. The key words in the second picture are math teacher”and thin”. The key words of the third picture are “Chinese teacher”.

    ②Play the recording three times. The first time, let the students know the content of the dialogue. The second time, listen carefully to the details of the dialogue and decide the answer. Then the teacher gives the correct answer. The third time, Listen and read after the dialogue .

    2Let’s talk

    ①The teacher first presents the old man in Let's Talk” with PPT and ask Who is he?” . Students will say, “He is a music teacher”. The teacher then asked, Is he old? Is he funny?” Then the teacher leads the students into this part, to have a further understanding of the music teacher.

    ②Explain the new words and do role play, deepen the students' familiarity with the sentence.

    ③Let students talk about the teachers with the given words and sentences.

    3Let’s Learn

    Through the scene where Zhang Peng and Oliver talk about the teacher, present the word forms and meanings of the core words: old, young, funny, kind, strict.

    4Ask and answer

    ①The teacher presents the pictures of several teachers with PPT, and mark the name of the person and her/his teaching course (e.g. Mrs Li, English teacher) next to each picture. 

    ②Show one of the pictures and ask,Who's Mr/Mrs/Miss...?”  Students can answer the teacher according to the notes next to the picture, and say her/his appearance and character. After the demonstration, practice the dialogue with the pictures of other teachers in pairs.

    5Let’s spell

    ①Let the students distinguish the pronunciation of the words: sky, baby, yes. Tell the different pronunciation of letter Y.

    ②Learn the words: baby, happy, windy, sunny, sorry...Summarize the pronunciation rules of unstressed syllables, when the letter Y is at the end of the word.

     

    3.Practice

    1By listening to examples of word pronunciation, observing the common characteristics of the word structure, learn the letter Y pronounce/I/at the end of the word.

    2Answer the questions about the text, and ask some students to reply.

     

    4.Summary

    1New words: old, young,kind,strict,funny

    2Sentences:  

      —Who’s he/she?

      —He’s /She’s…

      —Is he/she funny/young/old...?

      —Yes, he/she is.

      —No, he/she isn’t.

    3Pronunciation /i/ : baby, happy, windy, sunny,sorry

    2. Weaknesses: Students should improve the listening to the tape and the attention on the key words.
