Canadian English is a variant f bth variants. Because f the fact that their next-dr neighbrs speak American English, n dubt they were largely influenced by it. Hwever, it is t be nted that the Canadians were strngly against clnizatin (殖民化) when the Americans tried t frce them t jin. This shwed just hw much lyalty ( 忠诚) they have fr the Queen f England. The English spken by the British and that spken by the Americans are wrlds apart and Canadian English tk the best f bth wrlds t create its wn language style.
What's mre, nthing beats the uniqueness (独特性) f the Canadian accent. This accent can g back t the histry f the first Canadians. The first peple t arrive in Canada were the Irish wh were under the rule f Great Britain. Hwever, sn after, a large number f peple wh came frm neighbring America als started t arrive. Many accents mixed int smething between the British and the American accent. It created certain mannerisms (习惯) which cannt be fund in either British r American English.

Ask an English-speaking persn whether they've heard f a pineapple, and yu'll prbably receive little mre than a puzzled (迷惑的) lk. Surely, every schlchild has heard f this special fruit. But ask an English-speaking persn if they've ever heard f the ananas fruit and yu'll prbably get similarly puzzled lks, but fr the ppsite reasn. Mst English speakers have n idea what an ananas is — even thugh it's the name given t the pineapple in almst every ther imprtant language such as Arabic, German and French.
S hw is it that English managed t pick the wrng side in this fight? Wuld nt a pineapple, by any ther name, taste strange?
The fruit was first nticed by Clumbus's men n Guadelupe in 1493, and they called it piña de Indes, meaning “pine f the Indians”. But almst every ther Eurpean language decided t stick with the name given t the fruit by the Tupí peple f Suth America: ananas, which means “excellent fruit”.
Accrding t histrical recrds, the English wrd “pineapple” was first applied t the fruit in 1664, but that didn't end the great pineapple versus (对抗) ananas debate.
S given that we knew what bth wrds meant, why didn't English speakers just let g f this illgical (不合逻辑的) and unhelpful linguistic distinctin (语言差别)? The final reasn may be: We just think ur wn language is better than everyne else's.
Yu see, “pineapple” was already an English wrd befre it was applied t the fruit. First used in 1398, it was used t describe what we nw call pine cne. Interestingly, the term “pine cne” wasn't recrded until 1694, suggesting that the applicatin f pineapple t the ananas fruit prbably meant that peple had t find anther wrd t avid cnfusin. And while ananas hung arund n the periphery ( 边缘) f the language fr a time, when given a chice between using a lcal wrd and a freign ne, the English went with the frmer s ften that the latter died ut.
Of curse, it's nt t late t change ur minds. If yu want t ask fr ananas the next time yu rder a pizza, give it a try.
32. What des Paragraph 1 center n?
A. The rigin f the pineapple fruit.
B. The ppularity f the pineapple fruit.
C. The strange taste f the pineapple fruit.
D. The different names f the pineapple fruit.

B. It was created by Clumbus.
C. It came frm Suth America.
