    本课是北师大版初中英语九年级教材第5单元的第14课,话题为文学。本课主要通过听来学习故事中5位官员对于所触摸的大象肢体的不同部分的描述,评价和判断。为学生最终进行本单元的综合语言输出奠定初步的语言基础。
    教学目标

    运用本课所学词汇,口头简单的描述大象的身体部位。
    【能力目标】
    通过听获取信息,分析推断出国王让5位官员摸象的意图。
    【情感目标】
    初步建立团队合作意识。

    听前预测故事发展以及听中通过关键词获取主要信息。课前准备
    1.课前准备:调试光盘与课件、给学生分组、为学生布置预习作业等;
    2.教具学具:光盘、大卡片等。
    教学过程
    Step1. Warm-up
    1. Let students make a discussin abut fairy tales and chse several students t tell the fables they have read.
    2. Take a lk at the pictures f fairy tales and let students make up a stry accrding t the pictures.
    Step2. Reading
    1. Talk abut the stry, The Blind Men and the Elephant, and answer the related questins.
    What was special abut the men?
    Which part f the elephant did they tuch?
    What did they think the elephant was like?
    2. Teach key wrds appearing in the stry and explain their meaning and cllcatin t students.
    3. After teaching new wrds, let students retell the stry in their wn language.
    Example:
    The men in the stry were blind. One f them tuched the trunk f the elephant. It was lng and had hles at the end. He thught the elephant was like a hse.
    Step3. Listening
    1. Read the beginning part f the stry and answer the fllwing questins.
    2. Listen t the rest f the play. Order the pictures accrding t the fficers’ answers.
    3. Listen again and cmplete the table.
    4. Lk at the details in Exercise 4. Which part f the elephant did each fficer tuch? Write numbers.
    5. Underline the stating wrds and talk abut the specific rders given by the king.
    6. Lk at the transcripts. Try t read it ludly and remember the details.
    7. Take a lk at the picture f elephant and indicate the English names f each bdy parts.
