II. pre-task preparation :
The Ss look at the pictures and talk about the story according to them, then ask the Ss some questions:
1. what are the fisherman doing ?
2. Does every fisherman fish like this ?
III .While-task :
To study the new words expressions :
Competition : compete v. have a swimming competition
Tale : tell the Ss the difference between story and tale e g: a fairy tale
Stair : upstairs /downstairs go upstairs / downstairs come down / go up the stairs
Disappear : appear (come into view ) vanish / no long be visible
Plain : large area of flat land
Troy : Trojan
Look down at : tell the Ss the difference between look down at and look down on
Beyond : eg: If you traveled beyond Nanqiao, you can see Xidu.
Capture : take control by force capture Sp.
Sail : go sailing sail away sailor n.
Wooden : wood a piece of wood a wooden chair
Wheel : on wheel The horse is on wheel.
Interrupt : eg : Don’t interrupt me .

教后感:这堂课下来,我感触最深的应该是学生预习这一块。学生的充分预习能使得课堂效率整体提高,因为学生已经有了提前感受课文内容并提前进入的状态。有意识地学习比盲目学习效果好!

Review the whole words expressions we have learnt .
III .While-task :
To study the text:
First ask the Ss to read the text quietly. Then do A on page 66,and check the answers with the whole class.
Translate the text and explain some grammar
Play attention to the expressions :on the side of .... / on the other side of .....; with a large bird on his head ; of average height ; fit ; an elderly man ; be + a. + enough to + V... ; be good at ;be used to do Sth. dive down ; up to ;
To learn the passive voice: be + p.p.
While we play attention to the expressions,we make sentences with them.
Read paragraph (1-2) together.

教后感:本节课主要是复习单词与词组后再学习课文为主,在进行课文的教学过程中,让学生积极参与语言练习,例如:朗读课文, 引导学生能用所学词组或语法造句,让他们多说,时间较紧,只能完成课文的一部分。遗憾的是,基础差的学生几乎不能开口用英语表达。

Review the words , expressions and the passive voice we have learnt .

To study the text:
First ask the Ss to read the rest of the text quietly.
Translate the text and explain some grammar
Play attention to the expressions :a fishing rod / in the late afternoon. / set off ./ on his bamboo raft / a piece of grass / so that / jump up and down attract / bring Sth back to .../ a traditional Chinese skill / more than / be interested in doing Sth. / this type of work / in the moden world / no more / in fifty years
While we pay attention to the expressions,the teacher ask the Ss to make sentences with them.
Read the rest of the text together.
Do B on page 66. Then check the answer .
Read the text together again.
