特殊疑问句以疑问词开头，常用的疑问词有what，wh，when，why等。因大多数疑问词均以wh­开头，所以特殊疑问句又被称为wh­问句。
特殊疑问句的疑问词
◆wh wh作疑问代词，意为“谁”。如： ---Wh is yur sister? ---Lily.
◆why why作疑问副词，意为“为什么”，用来询问原因或理由。对于why引导的特殊疑问句，答句通常用because引导。如： —Why d yu like P．E.? —Because it's fun.
◆when when作疑问副词，意为“什么时候，何时”，用来询问时间，既可询问某个时段或时刻，也可询问具体的日期。如： 1. ----When d yu usually have dinner? --- At 7:00. 2. --- When is his birthday? ---August 10th.
◆what what作疑问代词，意为“什么”，多用来询问某物，可以对句中的主语、宾语或表语提问。如：
what还可作限定词，和其他名词(如time，clr等)一起引导特殊疑问句。
