Decide to Do Well
Everybody makes decisions in daily life. They can be as important as what you will do in the future or as simple as what you will eat for breakfast. Any decision could be the turning point in your life.
I made an important decision when I was in Grade 8. Before I made that decision, I was one of the boys who tried too hard to act as an adult. I didn’t know that only kids want to show themselves as adults. I didn’t listen to my parents and teachers, and my grades became poor. Then it came the high school entrance exam. At the turning point in my life, my mom wanted to have a conversation with me. I wanted to turn it down but when I looked at her eyes, I felt I couldn’t refuse. Instead of asking me to study hard, to my surprise, Mom just asked what I wanted to do in the future. Without thinking too much, I just said I would like to study hard. Mom smiled and asked again,"What do you want to do?" I never seriously thought about the question. So I kept silent."Whether you want to go on studying or enter the society," she went on,"it is your own decision. Your life ought to be decided by you, not by anyone else, including me." After saying that, she had tears in her eyes. For the first time in my life I was asked to make my own decision. I sat in my chair and thought about myself, my life and what kind of person I wanted to become. It took me what seemed to be ages to make the biggest decision so far in my life — I wanted to be a man who made a difference in the world. To achieve that, I needed to study hard. The path to my future became clear to me. I didn’t act rebelliously(叛逆地) any more. With passion(激情) in my heart, I studied hard.
Now, I’m 17. I’m in one of the best schools in my city and in one of the best classes at the school. And I am one of the best students in the class. Thanks to that decision, I have become what I am today.

Around the world, about 450 million people are living with mental(精神的;心理的) health problems right now. However, few people would like to talk about any mental health problem they have because they think it is a shame(可耻的事).
To bring attention to mental health problems and help people to solve those problems, World Mental Health(WMH) Day was first celebrated in 1992. Now, more and more people celebrate WMH Day on 10th October.
It is important for us to look after our own mental health. Do you know how good exercise is for mental health? Doing exercise and spending time in nature can really help to deal with worries and depression(沮丧). So why not go for a walk in a park or the countryside?
Your diet can also change how you feel. If you eat candies, cake, chocolate, etc., your blood sugar level will rise and fall, making you feel angry and tired. Make sure you eat enough vegetables and fruit, and you may feel good. It’s also important to drink enough water — being thirsty(口渴的)can make it difficult to think clearly. Also, it’s good to spend time with other people. Talking to others and asking them for support can help to reduce(减少)the shame.
World Mental Health Day encourages us to pay more attention to both our own mental health and other people’s. Anything you do on WMH Day will help us all to better understand and support people with mental health problems.

One possible version:
Dear Danny,
I’m sorry to hear that you have some problems with your parents. Don’t worry! I think you should do some outdoor exercise after school every day. Doing some exercise every day can make you keep healthy. If you sometimes feel tired from school, you can tell your parents about your problem and do less exercise. Although you just want to relax yourself at home when you are tired, I think the best way to relax is through exercise.
As for your New Term’s Resolution, it can help you develop good habits and get good grades. So I think it’s a good idea to make a New Term’s Resolution and keep it.
I believe that you can make it. Hope you are happy.
Yours,
Mark
