The School Crossing Patrol (巡逻) Service started in the UK in 1950 to allow children to cross Britain’s roads in a safe way. People who did this were called a lollipop(棒棒糖)lady or man because their sign(标志)to stop the traffic was in the shape of a lollipop.
The job of a School Crossing Patroller is to allow children to cross the roads in a safe way when they are making their way to and from school. When in a car and you are approaching a school crossing patrol, you should slow down. This is especially important during rush hours for schools.
“Most of the School Crossing Patrollers are old people,” says Richard Hall. “The pay is around £8.5—£10 per hour so it’s not the kind of job that will make anyone rich, but many school crossing patrols speak very warmly about their work, knowing they are playing an important part in the community.”
However, this job has become a dangerous one in recent times and some local governments have put cameras on the lollipops to catch drivers that put the school crossing patrols in danger. The patrols also wear bright-colored clothing so that there can be no excuses for drivers saying that they cannot see them. Don’t be one of the growing number of people that fail to stop when a lollipop man or woman shows their stop sign in the middle of the road. If you do, you could get a big fine from the government.
Remember, by not stopping you are putting the lives of the lollipop lady or man in danger. A few minutes waiting is much safer than trying to get past when the patrol has started to stop the traffic.

A.improve school safety B.show the traffic problems
C.introduce new traffic signs D.help students cross roads safely

Puberty (青春期) is a stage (阶段) of life when young people leave childhood and head into adulthood. It is a difficult time for young people because it changes both their bodies and minds. They need to understand what is going on with their bodies, how to do with those changes and learn to take responsibility (责任).
A young person may begin puberty at 8, while another may not start puberty until 14 or 15. Usually, girls start puberty before boys do. For both girls and boys, it is usually complete by the age of 18.
During these years, the body develops in many ways. Feeling will also change quickly. Young boys at this stage are interested in having fun and being accepted by others. They need to think before they act and make up their minds for themselves.
A girl’s personality often does not develop in the same way as a boy’s. Young girls sometimes lose confidence in themselves. They are no longer sure of their own feelings. Yet they are usually afraid to tell their parents or teachers about their problems. For this reason, young girls should be encouraged to talk about things with trusted adults.
Parents, schools and communities can do a lot to care for and help young people. It is their responsibility to make sure that young people grow into healthy adults.
